aaaand it's finally my all time favourite and the best
our beloved summer
bringing to us from the witch, kim dami and choi wooshik. and damn, do they look cute together.
our beloved summer is about growing up, problems of a distracted mind, and problems of am overly focused one. it describes how despite all hardships in life, sometimes all you need is someone to push you through those difficult times.
picture twenty five twenty one, but with a happier ending.
we have choi ung, the artist. kook yeon su, the strict one, and ji ung, the one sided pining lover (the horse boy from vincenzo ðŸ˜).
i. the acting. dear heavens. keep in mind, this was one of the first dramas i watched. i was completely unimpressed by ung's hairstyles and mannerisms and yeon su's coldness. ji ung seemed expressionless and i was not hooked at all. BUT THEN, like a saviour, came the salt and water scene. it was actually then that i understood - the show isn't going to be known for its grand gestures or huge confessions. it's going to be known for the little things, the deeply buried doubt and insecurities of both ung and yeon su.
ii. there's a constant shift between the past and the present, in both of which they're shooting a documentary. typically, there's no reason for such a documentary to be shot again. but once we see the nostalgia of the producer, it all makes sense. from the immature kids they were in high school to the still maturing adults they are. nothing beats yeon su saying she wants a guy who's mature and ung waving a broom from behind. yes ma'am this is the guy you ordered
iii. emotion management top tier. as someone who's lived in the constant struggle to be liked and to stay on the top, yeon su's multi layered character gave me a sense of comfort. as a distracted mind, always here and there for acceptance and finding something that makes me truly happy, i found my home in ung. there's no grand confession that makes everything happy and dandy. it made me wonder if these gestures are overrated after all.
this was such a long rant.
ive had longer reviews than this, but i think if i stretch this longer you're gonna get bored.
to all my people who got bored and left this drama halfway between - give it a chance. try to not see it as a kdrama with quirky music and funny leads but as real people, through layers of experiences and failures.

#5 - weightlifting fairy kim bok joo/ strong girl do bong soon
such feel good dramas. if you're looking for a light hearted watch, something to get you out of your kdrama slump, this one's for you. strong girls, cheesy simp boys, good friendships and good feels all around. ignore the sub plot in do bong soon and you'll be happier than ever.
#4 - doom at your service
the thing. with this. was. I LOVED THE CONCEPT. ive basically ranted about the concept in the review, but yes. the visuals are pretty good, with some cute rain and garden scenes and fated for each other thingamajig. little girl god is there, bonus visuals of seo in guk reversing with hand on back of car seat and parking ticket in his mouth. ps - second couple was everything.
#3 - vincenzo
Hollywood should really stop trying to make action/crime/mafia movies because Vincenzo made me believe koreans have cracked the code. i mean, the action, the subtle romance, the equal bad assery of BOTH male and female leads, + some really iconic lines. you WILL NOT find a hotter villain (jang han seok ily), a more annoying side villain ( choi myeong hui die again), or a better character arc ( jang han seo my beloved). amazing.

welcome to me ranting about my favs again. very topsy turvy but feel good drama, slow and equal paced with real people. it's a heavy watch, so be sure you're ready when you dive in. it takes some time to love it, but once you do, you love it too much.

gong yoo and lee dong woo. that should be enough reason. plotline 5 stars, action, visuals 4 stars, romance 4.5 stars, bromance 174634 stars, second lead couple 5 stars, JUST WATCH IT

Soo Ah carried that flower pot with her whole chest instead of yeeting it in the bin or destroying it. Then had the nerve to look heart broken. Girl you have me fucked up.

I have never read the webtoon but I've heard yi seo and park saeroyi end up together. I feel like the ending of this drama wont be what we expected

Notes Part 1
• I'm happy that PSR finally realized his feelings for JYS but it was in the most cliched way ever. I knew he had feeling for her for a long while now, but why did it have to be when she was ill or now that she is MIA.
• Also why they give my man Toni those small snippets. Wtf. Toni literally is the sun and without him there was darkness. That's why yi seo got taken. Js
• I liked the scene between Seung Kwon and Saeroyi. There friendship is just so pure and cute. You can tell Seung Kwon really admires Saeroyi.
• I like how Saeroyi shut down Soo Ah at the restaurant. Soo ah literally looked crazy when she said "Say you like me" and Royi looked like "wtf"
• Geun wons plan is literally so messed up I can not fathom. He killed him like he killed his dad. How messed up is that. He is a mess.
• The ending pissed me off. Why would you do that.
• Overall ep 14 was really cute but so damn cliché. It was supposed to be a drama that stood out till the very end. But it didnt. It's still one of the greatest dramas I've watched but it could've been still unique you know.
