I still find it weird how JK Rowling tweeted this:

while having her only gay character in the entire franchise be trapped in the closet for the entire series…

Not to mention this was in a twitter chain that started with her talking about how she imagined characters of various religions existed at Hogwarts but were just never mentioned…because she doesn’t feel the need to include Jewish people (for example) in her stories.

So she always kept her characters’ statuses as minorities a secret, but she thinks it should never have to be a secret, and that’s not a contradiction I guess.

why is it that when we talk about straight couples, kissing and pda and sex is the first thing we talk about, but when we’re talking about non-canon gay couples, ‘they should just talk about it and kinda start dating, i mean kisses and all would be totally out of character’?

well, listen to me, sweetheart.

the only fucking time kisses, pda and sex (or some of those) is out of character is when said character is asexual (which doesn’t even happen half of the time (hi, r*verdale)).

somebody might also be uncomfortable with all these things for other reasons. but when people say that they ‘would be uncomfortable’, while that character was in a committed straight relationship with all that and more, it’s just bullshit.
