his eyes perks upward, looking at the person skipping her way to him in front of the door of his office.

"it is i, your favourite concubine," you said giddily and bowing respectfully when you stopped in front of the king. he couldn't help himself and chuckled at your behavior.

"what brings you here, my love? i didn't call for you, do you need anything?", getting up from his seat, he walks slowly towards you.

you were beyond happy when he smiles at you, he looks so handsome. his sharp nose, high cheekbones, sharp jaw, beautiful eyes, plump lips. the man you love with all of your heart, and the king you faithfully serve. kim hongjoong.

"i was bored in the harem, so i came to find you instead.", clasping your hands behind your back to not let him see you fidgeting your fingers.

"my dear, I've bought lots of other women to accompany you there. were they not friendly to you, dear?", his soft tone always makes your heart flutter. but the way he gently tucks away the strands of hair behind your ear made your heart stopped beating for a second. you avert your eyes from him, couldn't bear looking at his gorgeous face, one more second and you might actually explode. he smiled to himself upon noticing your reaction. he finds it very adorable.

"go ahead and choose any books you want, I'll let you borrow it.", his callous fingertips softly caress your cheeks.

he knew how much you love reading and learn new things. he loves it more when you tell him what you've learnt from your studies to him. he would attentively listen to you even when he himself already knew bout everything. its his books obviously. but that's what makes you special and different from his other concubines. you were someone who's eager to learn despite being a servent to the king. not many women were given the opportunity to read and study, but for you, he made an exception. he gave you the permission to roam around the palace anytime you want and may interrupt him when needed most.

you've chosen a new book to discover the story and you spent the whole evening sitting and laying around in his office, reading quietly while he continues with his paper work.

"OH MY GOD, YOUR MAJESTY!!! DID YOU KNOW....", you quickly snapped the book close in your hands and made your way excitedly to thw man sitting in his office chair. he welcomed you with a big smile and open arms. once you've settled yourself on his lap and his arms wrapping around you, you went on and on telling him everything.

he found himself admiring your enthusiastic self way too much and slowly closes the distance between the two of you and you felt his soft lips on yours. you stopped talking for once and hid your face in the palm of your hands.

"you're so adorable when you're flustered like this, sweetheart." he kisses your fingers and he removes your hands from your face. his soft laughter at your flushed face made you felt more shy. it's not the first time he's done this, yet it still made you love him even more day by day.

you both glance at the door as there was a soft knock, following with the voice of a very familiar woman you both knew, and she's calling for your man. wait, was he even your man? is he even yours officially to begin with? compared to the women behind the closed door.
