Carrier

Q code has some really strong podcasts but as with all things they have some stinkers in thare apple barrel. One of the shiniest apples they have is carrier. A podcast about a long haul trucker taking a crate that is not her normal haul. The episodes are about 30 minutes long give or take and to my memory the episodes are very high quality and the voice acting is of the same very high quality. I highly recommend this podcast for those looking for a new podcast to listen to.

Unwell

One of the best ongoing podcasts out right now, a strange house that is like house of leaves, gay romance, and thinking about spooky things in the way of science. There is not enuf i can say about this podcast that will satisfy my need to talk about this awesome podcast. They have some of the most entertaining characters I have seen in a long time. They do really well with keeping their characters true to themselves as they feel like they grow in a way that feels real. Go listen to this podcast

The enoch saga

When i first started this podcast i thought it was going to be some kind of ya podcast and it is but like with Illuminae i liked this podcast after i got over it ya ness. In a world with a pill that can make you live forever a young girl has a lot of interest in the city of mutants that make the pills. I wish they gave her a country accent as She lives on a farm and I think it would help create a bigger divide in the other main characters. I hope to see more from this podcast but I am not betting on it as it has not been updated in 2 years. There's a lot of good things here that I think if picked back up I think there's a lot you can do with it.

Crooked river

CROOKED RIVER is a fictional podcast narrative that spans the five-year period between September 1934 and August 1939 in post-Prohibition Cleveland, Ohio at the height of the Great Depression. During this politically turbulent time, an elusive killer decapitated and dismembered thirteen victims—seven men and six women—all under the watch of newly appointed Public Safety Director Eliot Ness, the famed G-man from Al Capone’s Chicago glory days. The disturbing crimes This podcast does a lot of things really well and it makes me sad that it will most likely never be finished. I was a big fan of true crime till I felt icky after they started to bring the family into it. But with fichon you can play with it a bit more without being real folks into it. There's a lot you can talk about with all the problems with true crime and i will not talk about that here but you can. I feel that it does something similar to true detective in the way that they look at the case and talk to the guys that worked the case in the hay day.

Jack of all trades

A queer occult horror comedy, JACK OF ALL TRADES follows Jack in her new job as a woefully unqualified repairperson. She soon discovers that her resume embellishments are the least of her worries: the flickering lights and strange sounds in the walls all seem to be caused by hauntings Qweer folks love to date someone who is not human or maybe something more than. I like the idea of ghosts being the problem with your really bad apartment. They don't go as far into the rules of thare magic system as I would like but you can just asom that that they will rules lawyer you into losing. I don't what to rouin the villin if this one so do what you will with that. This podcast is on the faustian nonsense network witch made chain of being and dos after you.

Harbor

The Greer siblings have a lot on their plate- stressful jobs, southern heat, small town politics AND Cryptids with personal problems. Remember, normal is what you get used to. Man do i love it when they make Cryptids human+, they do that farly well. And its gay, gay Cryptid with human lovers. I love the siblings in this podcast. I do not remember their names but the they/them sibling reminds me of duck in the adventure zone with her job and general way they live their life. I feel that this podcast does its dialogue in the exact way that i what it to be done, telling your sibling to change the way they speak to you is aqword and it's not going to be right all the time or the most fiting words. It's something you have to shimmy in to. There are some small town politics that I love to see in things like this, unwell does it very well and so does harbor. Podcast makers should take notes from this podcast. It seems that this one is getting its 3ed season this year and i will be listening to this the second it comes out

The vela

A refugee returns to her home planet in search of a missing ship that holds the key to saving humanity.

This is a fairly good podcast. I am not a fan of its ending but all the things going into it are cool. There are some interesting tech and character interactions. There's a romance part that I think they did rather well as it did not take center stage and you get just a whiff of it from them. In the middle of writing this spotify changed the way it looks and i love it. The ui is so nice looking. Bit glitchy but pretty. Back to podcasts, the two main characters are rather likable. Both of their point of views make sense and evolve throughout the story.

Solide podcast not the best not the worst

Gods and lies

An investigator with a damaged reputation reluctantly teams up with a disgraced son of a Goddess to solve the murder of a mortal. This is an ok podcast. I don't think this podcast does anything particularly well but it does everything satisfactory. The only real thing that makes this podcast different is that the (i don't remember what pantheon they use or if they made their own) gods feel like a real force in the world. They don't feel strong in the way they can just beat you to death if they don't like you but in the way that they can ruin your life with all the power they have in the world. There's some interesting things with the demigod characters and how they work with the capital G, gods and what that means for the humans in the story.

This land

The award-winning documentary podcast This Land is back for season 2. Host Rebecca Nagle reports on how the far right is using Native children to attack American Indian tribes and advance a conservative agenda.

This is a very good documentary style podcast that brings something up to center stage that I think most folks don't think about, native american issues in reverence to the US government. This podcast does this better than most podcasts doing documentaries. There's not much i don't like in this podcast, the only possible thing i don't like about this podcast is sometimes the passing and wording are a bit off.

The bright sessions

Dr. Bright provides therapy for the strange and unusual; their sessions have been recorded for research purposes

This is a fairly long running podcast all the way back in 2016. There are 7 seasons and it will take you a long time to finish this podcast. I am not going to go season by season but I will touch on some things that I liked. The powers are not mind bending or hard to understand, in a later season they go into how the powers interact and can harm each other. They talk about what we do with folks with powers that commit crime or are convenient for science. There are some really heavy things in this podcast if you can not handle things like this go at your own risk.

Unplaced

Unplaced tells the story of a woman who wakes up one day to find that no one can see or hear her, and everyone she knows is slowly forgetting about her. That would be weird enough...but after a few weeks of being invisible, she finds she's not the only being other people can't see.

I recommend this for folks that are just getting into podcasts to give them an idea of what you can do with podcasts. It also shows one of the biggest problems facing podcasts other than the alt right, unfinished podcast. I think some of the best podcasts are unfinished, Crooked river, The enoch saga, and Philips apocalypse. Good hooks, and good voice acting, it had the footing to be something great. Give it a listen or don't, you are not missing a groundbreaking podcast.

Moonface

A fiction show about a Korean American son (Joel Kim Booster) who wants to come out to his mom (Esther Moon), but can't because they don't speak the same language.

There is not a part of this podcast that I do not like. It is strong in all its ways. I never felt that the cast was some kind of overdramatic joke. It feels real. James Kim has some really interesting podcasts that I hope that they will be on my must listen to list as Moonface is in my top 20 podcast fiction. The hiss has only positive reviews and I hope it can hold up to the hype as from what I have read it looks to be the best of the best.

The ghosts on this road

For lovers of subtle horror and unconventional fiction, ”The Ghosts on This Road” features two anonymous hosts reporting to one another from the field on the inexplicable. This is a very good podcast where two folks talk to each other about the strange things going on in the investigation they are working on. There is not really a story so much as its really good character study. The male voice is the crater of knifepoint horror and the female voice is the creator of wolf stories, which I have not listened to yet but is on the list. This is definitely a really good podcast you should listen to.

The hiss

A show about real-life experiences that are hard to explain. Stories about the unknown, the inexplicable, the surreal.

This is the first time I have listened to a podcast since I started this project so it is still very fresh. You can tell that these are folks that are not interviewed often or are not used to this type of thing. These are stories from folks that live regular lives and don't get to tell the world their stories all that often. Thare stories are not things that most folk will live through but often anuf that most folks have some kind of idea. There are only 4 episodes and the last hit me the hardest. Some of them go into some really hard to handle things. It did live up to the hype of the reviews, the sound design is so smart, the way they let video play its part or the notes of the topic. This is a must listen to.

The competition

Each season covers an obscure, real-life competition and follows the contestants until there is only one left standing.

I only listened to the 2ed season as I am not that interested in the piano competition, but I am interested in the la mister leather. All the guys in this are super interesting. The audio design is really good. Folks should take notes on this podcast if they are waiting to make a podcast. Some of the interviews are a bit quiet when compared to others.

The Legion Tapes

The Legion Tapes are selections from an archive chronicling the world after the end. The alien Legion takes over worlds and absorbs the sentients of those worlds. They've assimilated eleven species so far, and humanity is next on their list. But even after the nations of the world fall, and even after being reduced to communicating solely by radio, humanity's fighting back. This podcast does one thing really well and that is its use of the radio. The names of the characters are rather interesting, naming themselves after animals similar to the beacon. There are some slight things that I am not a fan of and they are as such, Mist's voice sounds exactly like karkat from homestuck, they did not go into as much detail about the humans working with aliens. There are some things that they should go in to in later seasons maybe have it take place from the aliens side that would be interesting

Hand in glove

Jake Corliss is a 26-year-old "quadruple-A" pitcher trying to get one last shot in the majors. Javy Correa is a 22-year-old catching phenom ready to take baseball by storm. They're both about to meet in the minors for the first time, though, and when they do, they'll find something neither of them ever expected.

Never going to shut up about gay romance, they do a lot of things well. There are some parts that I think could have been done better but other than that I have no real issues with it. When Javy Correa starts to speak Spanish it never does not make sense. I think there's a lot thay choud do if they wanted to so many good hooks very well baited.

The art of ambition

In the city that never sleeps, the next opportunity is right around the corner… The Art of Ambition is a modern noir-esque series told from the perspective of a New Yorker with his ear to the ground and a knack for turning a situation to his advantage. It's fairly interesting, nothing to write home about. I like the idea of taking advantage of city space that no one is using. I have a lot of thoughts like this to tust steal land from those that dont use it. The voice acting is good as well its a solid b+, they do well but nothing so good that you should take notes on.

Badlands cola

Badlands Cola is a cinematic mystery/horror audio drama about eldritch fossils, hate-flirting, and liminal nightmares that yawn wide in the night. In a desert town full of strange fossils and even stranger people, a hard-hearted PI and a broken-down radio DJ attempt to dig up the skeletal past of a cult before it can reform. I don't think this podcast is that good. It has some interesting things that they could have gone further into like the house or the repeating town. I feel like the podcast goes too much on the “hate-flirting” and not on the horror of bone gods and house of leaves style homes. There are a lot of hooks none of them are baited correctly so i just don't what to bite

Impact winter

More than a decade after a comet strike has inflicted an "impact winter" and blacked out the sun, vampires have emerged in the darkness to take over what remains of the world. Humans have fled underground, clinging to an existence that feels increasingly doomed. One vampire hunter, a young woman named Darcy, is lured from her bunker beneath an ancient castle by a powerful vampire overlord and thrust into a fight for her people's future.

There are a lot of interesting things in this podcast but I feel that it falls short of my expectations as it falls into the trap other vampire centric shows into. And that trap is that they try to show vampire society but they stay there way too long (also human romance with a monster has no interest to me if it is not gay). I don't care about how crazy strong and how much influence they have, they are a force, show the things they affect.
