β€œYou look at trees and called them β€˜trees,’ and probably you do not think twice about the word. You call a star a β€˜star,’ and think nothing more of it. But you must remember that these words, β€˜tree,’ β€˜star,’ were (in their original forms) names given to these objects by people with very different views from yours. To you, a tree is simply a vegetable organism, and a star simply a ball of inanimate matter moving along a mathematical course. But the first men to talk of β€˜trees’ and β€˜stars’ saw things very differently. To them, the world was alive with mythological beings. They saw the stars as living silver, bursting into flame in answer to the eternal music. They saw the sky as a jeweled tent, and the earth as the womb whence all living things have come. To them, the whole of creation was β€˜myth-woven and elf patterned’.”

SONNAEN - OARLAG

Goddesses of the sun and war

This isn’t Tolkien related, I’ve just been working on world building when I had the time. These are 2 of my main deities of my world, Dewis.

Sonnaen is the goddess of the sun, sky and fire. Oarlag is the goddess of war, strategy and bloodshed. Both are not to be messed with…

Would you guys be interested in more of the deities or other characters from my own world or nah?

Oath of FΓ«anor byΒ https://hehuihehui.lofter.com

Be he foe or friend, be he foul or clean, brood of Morgoth or bright Vala, Elda or Maia or Aftercomer, Man yet unborn upon Middle-earth, neither law, nor love, nor league of swords, dread nor danger, not Doom itself, shall defend him from FΓ«anor, and FΓ«anor’s kin, whoso hideth or hoardeth, or in hand taketh, finding keepeth or afar casteth a Silmaril. This swear we all: death we will deal him ere Day’s ending, woe unto world’s end! Our word hear thou, Eru Allfather! To the everlasting Darkness doom us if our deed faileth. On the holy mountain hear in witness and our vow remember, ManwΓ« and Varda!

β€œβ€¦for she was (and knew she was) my LΓΊthien. <…> I never called Edith LΓΊthien – but she was the source of the story that in time became the chief part of the Silmarillion. It was first conceived in a small woodland glade filled with hemlocks at Roos in Yorkshire (where I was for a brief time in command of an outpost of the Humber Garrison in 1917, and she was able to live with me for a while). In those days her hair was raven, her skin clear, her eyes brighter than you have seen them, and she could sing – and dance.” β€” J.R.R. Tolkien in a letter to his son Christopher, 11 July 1972 πŸ“œ

What Is The Cost Of Lies? Its Not That Well Mistake Them For The Truth. The Real Danger Is That If We

β€œWhat is the cost of lies? It’s not that we’ll mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognize the truth at all. What can we do then? What else is left but to abandon even the hope of truth and content ourselves instead with stories? In these stories, it doesn’t matter who the heroes are. All we want to know is: who is to blame? […] What does matter is that, to them, justice was done. Because, you see, to them a just world is a sane world. There was nothing sane about Chernobyl. What happened there, what happened after, even the good we did, all of it… all of it… madness. Well, I’ve given you everything I know. They’ll deny it, of course. They always do. I know you’ll try your best.”  -Β Chernobyl (2019) dir. Johan Renck
