Looks pretty gay (and pretty hot) to me.
Fast Food Nation (2006), directed by Richard Linklater, aired recently, and it served as a chance to rewatch Glen Powell (briefly) early in his career. The upcoming release of another collaboration between the two Texas natives is Hit Man (2023) and I'm looking forward to it. They wrote the screenplay together, along with veteran writer, Skip Hollandsworth (a Texas transplant from childhood), and it's been getting generally positive reviews from the various film festivals where it's been shown. Netflix acquired the rights for a cool $20 million and it's scheduled to be released in theaters prior to streaming. Let's see if Mr. Powell is ready to move up in the Hollywood pecking order.
SCHOOL OF ROCK (Dir: Richard Linklater, 2003).
Jack Black is in family friendly mode for this kinda broader comic version of Dead Poets Society (Peter Weir, 1989).
School of Rock (A late name change means the on screen title remains The School of Rock) is the tale of would be rock star Dewey Finn. Kicked out of his band and in need of cash, Dewey posses as a substitute teacher and takes a job at a fancy prep school. With no background in education he firsts lets the students do as they please in lessons. On hearing their performance in music class he seizes the opportunity to form the kids into a rock band and enter them in to a battle of the contest, without the prior approval of the parents or the school Principal (Joan Cusak).
Let’s be honest, the plot involves a great deal of suspension of disbelief. But it is so warm-hearted, well played and genuinely funny that you won’t really care.

There truly isn't any movie out there like this. A time lapse of twelve years is phenomenal and they couldn't have chosen a better child to follow. The nonchalant way of aging of the characters throughout this film was very similar to the way we see it in our own lives. Props to bringing a brilliant new style of film to the table. Loved every minute of it!

“I believe if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in any of us, not you or me but just this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed but who cares really? The answer must be in the attempt.”
