:Abandoned AU: The brother never knew a Hidden City ever existed so imagine Leo’s shock to find someone who is just like them (even more so from someone who’s definitely his type.) Yuichi Usagi on the other hand works closely with Baron Draxum, he is Draxum’s eyes and ears when it comes to any surface news without knowing Draxum’s connections towards the turtles. Lets just say Yuichi and Leonardo are ‘fascinated’ towards each other, Leo being joyful and surprised that there are more people just like them, and Yuichi shocked to see a yokai (He doesn’t know Leonardo is a mutant.) living among humans so normally.
So I do this thing, with my hands and just in general when I can’t think of the word for soemthing I’m looking for, a common side effect of adhd (not literally but maybe people I know so the same thing and they also have it) and I think that’s how Yuichi and Mikey communicate
Yuichi, looking for the vegetable slicer so he can help make dinner: hey, do you know where the uh- the- the thing?
Mikey: the thing? Which one?
Yuichi: you know the uh- *vague gesture of sliding his hands across each other while cupping them* the thingy
Mikey: OH! The uh- *hand swirly’s as he thinks of the word* shoot, what’s it called- *snap and clap stim bc same*
Raph: what are y’all lookin for?
Yuichi: the- the thing. *repeats the sliding and cupping motion*
Mikey: you- you like uh- *vague motion of using it to slice a cucumber* and it chhk chhk chhks and then it like *makes motion of cucumber slices faling* blblblblbllb??
Raph: the vegetable slicer thingy?
Mikey and yuichi: YES!!
Donnie, of whom was listening in: what the fuck was that.
Leo: *shrug* made sense to me

It’s kind of funny that between Leo & Yuichi people like to make Yuichi the cool, calm & collected one in the relationship when I’m pretty sure that Yuichi has never been cool, calm or collected in his life.
I personally feel like Yuichi is, & I say this in the most affectionate way possible, just a much of a dumb-ass if not more of a dumb-ass than Leo, I’m serious, he saw a giant spider & his first response was to compliment the Spider & say ‘you have pretty eyes’, he once got a grape stuck in his nose for a whole year, he promised his auntie to treat his sword with respect & find a sensei & then as soon as he left home he started swinging his sword around & yelling that he didn’t need a sensei, he writes fan-fiction about himself in his head.
Yuichi has a magic yo-yo because when placed in a room full of magic weapons & told to pick very carefully because he could only choose once, he immediately went ‘hey is that a yo-yo?’ & picked it up.
I honestly feel like Leo could be the one with the braincell in that relationship or at least the one with the braincell most of the time.
