I have a headcanon that despite the strong physical resemblance Shino has to his father, and his dedication to the Aburame Clan culture of "train or die" and "control over emotions", Shino 100% must take after his mother in temperament. I just find the idea super endearing, even though we don't even know if Shino's mother is even alive or not as she is nonexistent (booooo).

Mostly because for all of his effort to emulate his Dad or seasoned players like Muta, Shino is just so sensitive. And he has every right to feel as hurt and offended as he does when he's forgotten or excluded (it's not a very amusing running gag honestly! epecially if you have first hand experience...). But then you have Shibi going through the same thing at least once that we know of as an audience, and presumably has been going through the same thing as an expansion of that running gag. Maybe all Aburame have a tendency to be forgotten or excluded, accidentally OR otherwise (so mean!).

But Shibi is so chill about it. He may be raging pissed on the inside, but he's very calm and willing to wait hours until he himself is approached to even say anything about his delayed food at a restaurant. He's either very used to it or just VERY socially awkward or has mastered Zen mode. Like... maybe he cleared his schedule that day specifically and literally had nothing better to do, I really don't know! But he's cool as a cucumber, so to speak.

Shino is not cool as a cucumber. When something genuinely irks or confuses him, makes him uncomfortable, he expresses it. The boy is not shy and he will dwell on it too. Shino gets mad. Shino feels hurt. Shino holds grudges. Shino is petty and WILL shove smelly fish in your fucking face. You sass him, he will sass you back. You annoy him, he will snipe you down as accurately as the situation calls for. You manage to push his buttons and disturb him, he FREAKS THE HELL OUT. But sometimes, he just gets dejected and mopey because seriously what's the fucking point?

If Shibi has simply mastered Aburame Clan Culture, that could explain such a different in reaction. But really if Shino has a habit of dwelling on things and holding grudges and reacting in ways where he can't help but say something to let you know that he is not for it or something just ain't it, I would just REALLY hope he gets it from his mom.

Because if that's how Shino's mom was, like, imagine that she also held grudges or was just so upfront and honest with her feelings. Imagine she was the kind person that just CARED THAT MUCH. Because if Shibi was always like that, then maybe Shibi had simply done something that his future wife just couldn't forget because she was just so affected by it. But, in a positive way!

So no matter how much time passed, Mrs. Aburame always remembered Shibi. And imagine how nice that must've felt for Shibi, a member of a constantly excluded or forgotten clan. Someone actually remembered his name, and even took the time to greet him in passing on the street. The recognition! The friendliness! The absolute warmth he probably felt. Not even his old "comrades" could do that for him, but she genuinely cared enough to do that.

Like, how could that not make you fall in love?

And because Shino has so much of his mother's spirit in him, Shibi just constantly dotes on him all the damn time, even more so if she happens to no longer be with them by the time Shino becomes a genin. Shibi wants to keep his son as safe as he can. He WILL rush in if and when Shino needs him. He WILL keep him close during a large scale assault. He will be his number one supporter and insist on helping him hone his skill with joint missions that incidentally keep Shino away from his friends and teammates, but it's for his own good, so it should probably be fine, right?

It's probably really hard for Shibi to let go of someone he loves so much, because there are only so many people he truly cares about that truly care about him. Maybe it's that part of himself Shino might greatly dislike because he wants so badly to be recognized by Shibi as more than just his son. He wants to be seen as a worthy heir and someone Shibi himself can truly rely on. But it's hard, because being part of a family can be hard.

I have a theory that if you're bad at cooking from scratch, it's probably because you currently:

1) suck at math and/or science

2) have performance anxiety

3) are over eager, impatient, and can't follow directions

So when I think about people who I know that can't cook from base ingredients, it seems that 3 is the problem a majority of the time while people who just don't attempt to even try typically have 2 or are simply lazy or don't have the time. Rarely does 1 apply, but some people really can't comprehend the difference between a simmer and a boil or burnt vs crispy.

Canonly, Hinata is a great cook, and I figure she most likely has been making her own clan ointment in batches as needed since she was fairly young, which shows she's good at concocting things in general. She has a good eye for details like that, byakugan or no byakygan, and could probably tweak first time borrowed recipes to make them even more satisfying and personalized for whomever she's cooking for, because she's sweet and notices and cares enough to do so and I love that <3 She also probably actually enjoys cooking since it's one way to show her love but it's very fun if you enjoy food in general!

I highly doubt Kiba has the patience to cook a good, balanced meal from scratch, but he certainly could manage to not burn instant or microwavable foods, and maybe make like... okay spaghetti or meat dishes with not too many sides. He'd probably grill pretty well, yet marinating would not be his forte. Though being somewhat feral, he'd probably be one of those people who'd eat literal raw steak, ew. And even if he could muster the patience, I feel like 2 would apply because he'd probably only put in more effort in order to impress someone, causing mistakes here and there. Nothing wrong with a simpler meal of course, but I don't think he'd make good sauces or use spices very efficiently without a lot of practice, haha. Like, I bet he'd struggle some trying to make tonkatsu for the first time, sauce and all. rip lol

As for Shino, I feel he has the potential to be an excellent cook as well. None of the above apply. However, Shino is a delicate type when it comes to his physical inner workings, so he probably wouldn't be super practiced beyond simple and fresh or mild foods like salads or not-so-spicy stir fry, maybe some homemade glazes and dressings if he cared for them (because forget store bought, he probably likes some control over it's contents as well for his sensative self). Unless he used to cook special for Shibi more frequently before he also got busy with ninja life, assuming Shibi isn't as delicate as Shino. Or maybe he still does, which would be really cute and extra special <3
