; hullo !! Basically Juneteenth marks the day ( June 19th, 1865 ), Major General Gordan Granger ( I think I've spelt the name right .. ) and Union troops reached Galveston and informed the enslaved Texans there that they were actually free. It essentially represents the end to slavery in the US !! Although the actual emancipation proclamation by Lincoln was issued like 2 years prior in in January, but the enslaved people of Galveston weren't informed until 1865, so that's why Juneteenth is so important to Black people yk !! :D
