Almost There...

Almost There...

A Breznick fanfiction

Claire felt Morgan's head drop down to her shoulder. It was a long night, she understood Morgan was tired, but she could've at least waited till she got home, right?

At least it wasn't some stranger…

Yet again, it was Morgan Reznick.

She looked down at the soft blond, for some reason -not just because of this crazy night- Morgan looked physically and emotionally drained. Not more than she felt, for sure… but this Morgan looked like she had nothing to hide. It was different.

And great, now Claire was dwelling over her fri- co-workers health, she didn't even like Morgan that much.

All these thoughts that went through her head suddenly made her think differently of her. For fucks sake, it's been 2 minutes.

If her opinion on someone she's hated for at least two years can change just like that then she should have the strength to get over her mother's death.

She noticed the street signs starting to look familiar and realized she was getting closer to her bus stop. She looked to Morgan then the houses outside of the bus.

She gently nudged the blond to wake her, having to do it again because Morgan didn't budge.

"Morgan…" she whispered, her smooth voice coaxing Morgan senses.

Waking up to little strands of Claire's hair in her face, so close she could smell the scent of her shampoo, was something Reznick wanted to get used to. The warmth of her shoulder under her head was just so comforting.

A small whine escaped Morgan's closed lips from the back of her throat, Claire swooned at the sound.

Falling into what she would blame to be Morgan's trap, she sighed and reached her hand forward. She gently caressed the sleepy doctor's jawline and pushed her head back into the previous position she was rested in.

Claire let her hand wander up to the top of Morgan's head and brushed the stray hair that had fallen in front of her face out of the way,  messaging her temples delicately.

"Almost home, don't worry," She whispered again, not wanting to startle the half-asleep blond into sobriety. Morgan let out one last sigh of contentment before drifting off.

Request: @mr-walkingrainbow

Hello! How are you today? Is there where I can ask for a prompt? If not please tell me where I can!!! (I’m just gonna say the prompt). So for 1, it’s Breznick. (Or Clairgan, whatever floats your boat) and basically, Morgan just has a closeted fear of thunder and then a super big storm hits and Claire soon realizes what’s wrong and rather than let Alex tease her or something she finds them somewhere private and just helps her through it! Very fluffy. (I checked the no-no list and I think that’s ok)

Request: @mr-walkingrainbow

A/N: I'm sorry, I kinda made it angsty, I got carried away 😅 anyway, I hope you like it, sorry it took a while too

|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|•|

It was raining that morning, and, according to Shaun, it was expected. Unfortunately, no one else was prepared and claimed whatever site they got their weather updates from said it would be sunny. Which only resulted in Shaun saying they need to get better at knowing what's coming and what's not.

Great way to start the day off.

After a difficult surgery, –removing a tumour that was wrapped around a crucial nerve– Claire, Shaun and Alex were in need of a hot cup of coffee. Well, at least Alex and Claire were.

Overall, it's just been a really crappy day; and, of course, to top it all off, whatever asshole that controls the weather decided to make it rain. Again.

Going in to work soaked and coming out in the same fashion. At least now they were sorta prepared…

Claire walked into the locker room to get out of her subs for the night. She had put in a special request to end her day short, sure, Claire has dealt with way worse, but this just wasn't a day she could hold up.

Once she was finished getting changed, she heard a loud sound from outside reminding her that it was still storming. Just worse.

Heavily sighing, she made her way back to the stairwell to see if she could grab one of the hospital's spare umbrellas.

She closed the door behind her and heard a small sound. Someone else was in here, and it sounded like… crying?

Hearing the door close, Morgan softly swore under her breath. She was not going to look vulnerable in front of anyone today. Especially over something so stupid like a storm.

"Hey, anyone in here?" Claire's soft voice rang out through the stairwell. Morgan abruptly froze, if it was bad before, it was worse now. The last person she needs to see her crying is Claire Browne.

The saint Claire Browne.

Another rumble of thunder from outside made Morgan jump, forgetting about Claire. A small whimper escaped her lips as more tears fell from her eyes.

Dr. Browne's soft footsteps echoed throughout the empty hall like Morgan's cries.

"Morgan?" The white coat and blond hair was all that Claire needed to figure out who was in there. Though, she was alarmed, what was Morgan doing… More importantly, why was she crying?

From behind, Claire could see Morgan's back slump down farther, still stiff in shock. Walking over, Claire gently sat down next to the taller blond.

She looked to Morgan, then to the vacant, stale wall that mocked every doctor to come here. Morgan took in a deep breath of humiliation, her trembling hands running over her face, making their way to rub the tears from her now puffy eyes.

Claire tapped her foot with Morgan's, giving her a little reassurance that whenever Morgan was ready, she could talk to her.

She wasn't sure what it was that set Morgan off. Possibly a case that hit too close to home, maybe the problems with her career, or perhaps Morgan just isn't in the best mental state. Whatever it was, Claire wanted her to know that she wasn't alone.

She could hear the left-over sniffles from Morgan's small breakdown.

Claire dusted the tears off of Morgan's cheeks with her knuckle, being very gentle not to startle her anymore than she already is.

Finally getting a good look at her face, she could tell Morgan's been down there for a while. All alone.

Seeing the girl she lo- likes a lot break down over something she couldn't figure out how to fix, or even know the cause of for that matter, just broke Claire's heart.

The poor woman was alone in the stairwell for God knows how long, sobbing her eyes out.

Claire let her hand down to rest on Morgan's cheek, caressing her jawline softly. She could feel Morgan gently lean into the touch.

Another clap of thunder made Morgan spring from her previously calm stance.

"Uh," She stammered, voice groggy and embarrassed, wanting to avoid any further conversation that would sprout between the two. But of course, Claire just had to look at her like that. Like she cared.

Thankfully, Morgan was now being paged out of the awkward situation. Well, not so thankful for the patient who had summoned a code blue.

Swearing under her breath for the second time today, Morgan jumped from the concrete steps, Claire's hand falling back to her side. Morgan sprinted back up to where Claire came from, wanting nothing but to avoid confrontation about what just went on. And, I guess, help her patient in the process.

To Claire's dismay, Morgan went the rest of her shift avoiding her.

-

Claire stirred gently in her sleep, coaxing herself to wake up. She let her senses relax for a moment until she noticed her alarm wasn't going off.

She lifted her head from the pillow and squinted her eyes around the room in search of the red numbers.

11:43.

It was nearly midnight, what was she doing up this early? Her question was soon answered by the loud rain pouring from outside. It was still storming out.

A flash of lightning lit up her room, followed by the loud thunder. The only thing she could think of was Morgan jumping at the sound in the stairwell.

Morgan.

It was simple, Morgan was afraid of the storm.

Without thinking, Claire sobered up and jumped out of bed, put on a proper shirt and checked her phone for Morgan's address.

There was no way she was going to leave Morgan alone again.

-

So, that's how Claire found herself standing outside Morgan's door at midnight.

It was only now, after she had gotten kinda dressed and drove all the way out here, that she started to rationalize what she was actually doing.

But one more flash of lightning and her finger was pushing the doorbell. God, she only hoped that the ringing that echoed throughout Morgan's house didn't startle the woman any more than she already was.

Claire felt her heart race as she saw the doorknob slowly start to turn. The door soon opened, revealing a red eyed Morgan in some comfy clothes.

Morgan's hand flew up to her eyes, subconsciously wiping them clean of tears for the millionth time today. Suddenly, she felt very insecure about her appearance. But Morgan's messy hair was the cutest thing in Claire's eyes.

"Um… Claire?" Morgan's soft voice broke at the sight of Claire awkwardly swaying there. "I- I didn't want you to be alone," The words that came out of her mouth sounded small, like how Morgan felt.

That night Morgan fell asleep with her body cradled by Claire's and her head buried in the brunette's chest. Soft, safe and warm.

She Likes Girls

She Likes Girls

A Breznick fanfiction

"Hey," a taller man giving off 'classic dad' vibes slid into the barstool next to Morgan. She did a double-take and realized he was talking to her. "Uh, hey," She gave an awkward, tight-lipped smile, aiming for her signals to hit him in the face.

"You want something to drink?" He asked. All Morgan wished was that she could disintegrate into dust in the snap of a finger. That was until this extraordinary lady strolled through the low, stained doors of this hell hole place they call a bar. She couldn't keep her eyes off her caramel skin.

"Uh, yes please," the words slipped out, unaware of the man still in front of her. "I'll take a dry Martini," Morgan slowly ripped her eyes off the pretty lass and became attentive to the situation. "I'm Alex, you?" She took a deep breath as he introduced himself. "I'm- I'm Morgan,"

Morgan watched as she came closer to the counter, her hips swaying gracefully as she walked. Looking her up and down slowly as Alex ordered her drink.

"We should slow down, I was moving too quick," he turned back to give Morgan her drink. It surprised her how nice this man was, the sudden admiration caught her off guard. "I can read the signals from a mile away," He reassured, taking a sip of alcohol.

Morgan chuckled nervously, he must've caught her checking out the chick beside him. Though she was looking down at her swirling martini, Morgan raised her head to face him with a wince. "Oh dear…" She trialled out with a ring of laughter followed by Alex.

"I say give it a shot," he took another sip.

"Woah, woah… yeah, that's oughta be a no,"

"Then why go to a bar? C'mon the worst she could do is say no, it's not like you know each other," he hesitated, slowly looking up at Morgan. "do you?"

She laughed again. "Gosh no!" Mumbling a little 'I wish' before taking another gulp of her beverage.

"Then ask her out,"

"...Alright."

She honestly didn't know what it was that made her stand up and walk towards Claire. Was it the alcohol bringing a newfound courage, was it the random stranger that just hyped her up about it? Possibly both…

Just as Morgan started to reach her she turned around, the two doctors almost knocking into each other. "Gosh, I'm so sorry, ma'am," Morgan got a good look at her eyes, a beautiful golden brown that the party lights glistened off of. Her brown sugar hair, she could just visualize getting her fingers intertwined with. Everything Morgan thought was amazing about her before was a million times better up close.

"I- I uh…" Morgan was lost for words at her sight. She looked back at Alex for a quick reassuring jester, only to watch him play with the lemon on the side of his glass. Morgan looked back at the angel in front of her and tried to gain the courage that had just fled from her back.

Morgan cleared her throat and managed to squeak out her name. "Hi, I'm Morgan," She backed up a fraction, the quick flash of disappointment in Claire’s eyes going unnoticed. "Claire, nice to meet you,"

Her smile made Morgan melt into the ground even more. Claire’s soft hands meeting her dry, cold ones made her flush, this time with embarrassment. But she didn't mind, coming face to face with the blonde, Morgan’s hands were the least of her interests.

"Uh- would you like something to drink?" Morgan hasn’t asked out a girl before, being new to this endeavour made her much more anxious.

"I… just got something to drink," she smiled, trying to ease the tension.

"Oh-"

"But, I would love to sit with you,"

A grin grew where her upset expression currently was.

"Great!"

Evan Morgan Reznick

Evan Morgan Reznick

A Breznick fanfiction

Summary: Breznick soulmate AU

"Have any of your soulmate initials switched?" Claire asked, filling the silence in the locker room with a question she's been wanting to ask forever. "Mm… no. They've been L.D ever since I was twelve," Shaun carefully placed his toy scalpel in his bag while Morgan opened her locker. "Nope," Alex turned around, "M.W, always. Why has yours recently changed?"

"Yeah- well… not recently, more like when I was fourteen. But, one of the letters is still crossed out," She placed a hand on her right thigh where her soulmate's initials are. "I've never really told anyone, but I haven't seen anyone else's initials crossed out…" She trailed off, allowing the other three doctor's fill in the blanks that it was something she didn't talk much about. "That's weird," Alex gave Morgan a look only for her to ignore it by taking a sip from the day-old water in her bottle.

Claire scoffed, "They used to be C-E.R, but now the 'E' is crossed out and replaced with an 'M'-" Before Claire got a chance to continue, Morgan spit out her water and fell into a fit of non-stop coughing which caught everyone's attention.

Cristina-Morgan, Reznick.

Caroline thought it'd be a good idea to give her child a longer name, that way her art signature would be more unique… Now looking back at it, it was a stupid desicion consitering Morgan hates art.

Despite choking on water -and the initial shock of the situation- Morgan managed to choke out some sorta sentence reassuring her sudden outburst.

"Those are my initials-" Alex froze on his way to help the blonde that was practically suffocating.

A few more seconds of Morgan choking to death, Claire broke the thick tension that filled the previously dead silent room.

"What…?" Morgan took another sip after (and to help) her body calmed down. “Wait… you don’t have mine… right?” Claire felt her heart speed up when whipped her mouth and nodded her head.

"Alright, me and Shaun will see you two tomorrow…" Alex tapped Shaun's bag to catch his attention, leaving the two women to sort out their predicament. He didn't want to make the situation worse or more awkward, not that he was sure they were soulmates, or what the crossed out 'E' meant; but he didn't want to make either of them uncomfortable.

"Are you-… you're sure about this?" Claire asked as Shaun and Alex left the room. Morgan felt her eyes burn at the contact with Claire's "Well, I suspected it once I had your initials, but you're straight and never said anything…"

"Well I never said anything because your name starts with a 'C' and has an 'E' in the middle of it!" Claire's confusion brought her to her next question.

"Why is there an 'E'?" Morgan looked down at her shoe, avoiding the question and filing with her water bottle. "The 'E' is crossed out, what does it stand for?" She asked again, getting impatient with the situation. "It doesn't matter-" Claire interrupted her. "Well it kinda does, how do I know if you're actually my soulmate?!"

Morgan looked back up, "I have C.B on my collar bone and you have my initials on your leg, right? Why does it matter?"

"Cause I don't know if you're lying about being my soulmate or not!" Claire bitterly laughed at the end, clearly getting more pressed by the second. "So what if I'm not? What's so disappointing about that?! I'm lying, I'm not your soulmate. Just go find him!"

The smaller doctor sighed, "We'll what if you are?! And you're actually lying to me! You obviously know why there was or still is an 'E', just tell me already!"

"Because I'm trans!" Morgan confessed, albeit a bit louder than she should. “See, that's all you had to do? Was that so Goddamn hard!?" Her tone was now mirroring Morgan's.

"YES! Yes, it was! And you don't fucking understand that!" She put her back to the locker and slid down shakily, her head making its way to her hands.

"Are you crying, is that how shitty of a soulmate I am?" For a split second, Morgan wanted to say yes -Even if she didn’t exactly mean it-, but her body felt like it was choking on that gross luke-warm water again and she couldn’t breathe.

It took Claire to realize that not everyone is as accepting of who their soulmate might be. She could only imagine that Morgan thought her soulmate would be immensely disappointed. Especially now -that Morgan has learnt she is her soulmate- since Morgan's only ever heard about Claire's past boyfriends, and on top of that, she's trans.

Her mind went back to what Morgan was previously hinting at:

'I'm not your soulmate, just go find him!'

'But you're straight…'

"Morgan, you are a wonderful woman," Claire slowly sat down next to her, "And you've only ever heard me talk about my soulmate being a man… right?" Morgan's hair and hands hid her face, but Claire could tell she nodded. "I've had girlfriends before, and I don't care if you're trans or not."

Claire hesitantly moved a little closer. "It's not that- well, kinda… I know you wouldn't care if I was transgender or not, but I didn't know you liked women. It's just that I have my deadname on your leg," Morgan sniffed and rubbed her eyes before looking at Claire and continuing, "My name's Morgan, and it should've been like that from the start… no? Like, does this mean I'll never actually pass with whatever universe-god-thing that created soulmates,"

It pained Claire's heart to hear her voice get shakier with each word. Locking eyes with Morgan's pink, tear-filled ones, she lightly put her hand on Morgan's cheek.

This time, she felt a different feeling in her heart when Morgan closed her eyes and leaned into the touch, allowing the tears to finally fall.

Morgan softly smiled and grabbed Claire's wrist, bringing it down to her knees and crawling it with her other one. Without breaking eye contact, Claire moved her thumb to delicately caress Morgans.

"I want you to believe me when I say I'm not disappointed, Morgan," The smaller doctor felt Morgan play with her fingers and smiled. "I do… and I want you to too. There has been so many times where I actually hoped you were- will be," she corrected herself briefly, "-my soulmate. When I first met you I genuinely thought that that was it. That I had won the most beautiful woman in the world,"

Now it was Claire's turn to cry. She's never seen this side of Morgan before, has never been told something that sweet and genuine before either. And it was ultimately the best words she's ever heard in her entire life, it's just an added bonus that they're coming from Morgan Reznick.

Without a second thought, Claire pulled Morgan in and did something she never even thought of doing before.

It's just that her mind was screaming 'Kiss her. She's so soft and cute and she's actually one of the sweetest people you've ever met! Her lips look as soft as her hair, if not, even softer!' And that's all it took.

Morgan let out a small squeak of surprise and froze for a moment before kissing back. Claire felt her hand drop and then another smoothing out her jawline and sighed into the kiss.

She couldn't tell if it was Morgan or if it was just the first time kissing her soulmate, but it felt so perfect.

Once they pulled apart and caught their breath, Morgan was the first one to talk. "You felt that too, right?" Claire couldn't help but smile wider, knowing exactly what she meant. "Yeah," She breathed out in awe.

The two of them giggled before leaning in for another small peck. Morgan let her hand fall from the side of Claire's face, the way it trailed down her neck gave the small brunette goosebumps.

"Guess we'll have to know each other better bow, huh?" Claire bit her lip to keep her from smiling so much but to avail.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

Ampu-tea

A Breznick fanfiction

Ampu-tea

Summary: Alex and Claire mess around with a nerf gun

"Ouch!" Claire turned around and glared at Alex who had a nerf gun in his hand. Rubbing her shoulder, Alex laughed at her hurt expression and lowered his toy gun.

"Where did you get that?" Claire breathed out a chuckle at the sight of Alex with some kid's nerf gun. "My patient," he explained, "they were being annoying so his dad's told me to confiscate it for him, now I'm being annoying."

"I can see that." Claire raised an eyebrow as Alex aimed it at her other shoulder.

"Below the waist, Park." Dr. Lim warned him as she walked between the gun and Claire, smirking at his groan of resentment. He dragged out an exasperated 'Fine' and laughed as Claire hurried out of the way when he pointed it to her knees.

Claire moved towards the sofa they recently installed for the residents lounge (which Audrey occasionally joins them because the majority of attendings are lame and irritating... At least more irritating than the four idiots she's taking care of.) And tried to muffle her giggle when Alex reloaded it and pointed it at Dr. Lim.

"Don't even try, guys." Alex sighed and Claire snickered at the fact that Audrey wasn't even facing them.

Then Morgan walked in, not sparing a glance to the two on the couch drinking her tea.

Alex looked to Claire to see if they were thinking the same thing and the giddy nod the brunette gave clarified his question.

They waited till Morgan was leaning against the counter, cup of tea in hand, looking at a medical journal and side facing them.

He grinned and closed one eye to get the best aim then pulled the trigger.

The foam bullet bounced off her leg like it did Claire's shoulder earlier but no reaction.

He hummed in confusion and let Claire take the gun. Just like Park did, she leaned forward, closed one eye, and pulled the trigger, the bullet hitting only a few centimetres above where the previous one did.

Still nothing.

That was when Alex snatched the toy gun from Claire's hands and loosely aimed it at the blonde.

This time the bullet hit her stomach.

"Ow! What the hell? What'd you shoot me in the stomach for?!" Morgan doubled over the counter in pain. "I said below the waist, Alex." Audrey didn't care to hide her smile at how funny it was though. "Well, we tried shooting her in the leg and for some reason, it didn't work!"

Dr. Reznick and Dr. Lim made eye contact with each other before Morgan started giggling.

"Out of all the places to shoot Morgan, you choose her right leg?" Audrey's smile looked even more amused than it was two seconds ago.

"You said below the waist, where else do you want me to shoot her?" Alex and Claire narrowed their eyes at the laughing doctors across from them.

That was supposed to be their job.

"I- I don't have a right leg-" Morgan managed to get the statement out between her progressive laughing, this time she wasn't doubling over in pain.

Claire and Alex stayed silent for a second, the only sound filling out the room was Morgan and Audrey's snickers.

"What?" They said in unison, "it's a prosthesis, you idiots," Morgan proceeded to ram her leg into the side of the counter for demonstration.

She looked back up at the two "idiots" only to be met with their dumbfound faces.

That was definitely worth getting shot in the stomach for.

Criminal AU

! DISCLAIMER ! This WIP Is Something That Will Never Be Complete Or Worked Futher On, Please Continue

"I feel you've been on the other end of this table that I might not even be qualified to investigate you. I think we're building a relationship here," Claire rolled her eyes at the familiar sarcastic comment as Officer Reznick pulled out the chair on her end of the table. "Y'know, conflict of interest and everything." She smirked.

The brunette across from Morgan didn't hesitate to cut straight to the chase.

"I'm innocent. I swear." Claire slammed her hand-cuff burned hands on the table in frustration. The little hum the blonde across from her let out only added to the annoyance knowing the mere sound was purely so that she knew Morgan acknowledged what she said.

"I'm not lying!"

"Alrighty," Officer Reznick mumbled again, flipping through some magazine -or maybe it was the newspaper which had Claire's name in it- not bothering to make eye contact.

"Officer-" Morgan cut her off this time.

"I hear you, you're a Saint, Claire." A full sentence was a start but it still confused her why Morgan wouldn't meet her eyes.

What confused her even more was that she wanted progression with this investigation.

Claire Browne, was, in fact, innocent.

*This time.*

Maybe it was just wanting to get out of this room that she found herself stuck in for what felt like the millionth time.

That mustn't look too good on her record.

Morgan flipped through what Claire had now confirmed to be the daily newspaper by watching her fill in the crossword and let out an exasperated sigh.

"Are you just trying to waste my time? I have a job to get to in-" She looked down at her wrist only to be met with the cold yet harsh metal that chimed with her every movement. "However many minutes till 4:30!"

Morgan scribbled something down with that irritating blue inked pen that Browne couldn't stand then looked to her watch.

"You have about an hour," She looked up to see Claire roll her eyes at the pen clicking closed. "That is if you bother to tell the truth,"

The brunette felt herself sink into the seat, which shouldn't even be qualified as a seat, more like some sorta perch that has now left a permanent mark in her ass.

God, she hates this chair.

"I'm not lying to you, detective. Please just believe me this once!" She understood that with her past she wasn't a trusted person, and that simply telling someone who went through years if schooling and training wouldn't make them believe that she is actually innocent... but there really wasn't much she could do.

Well, she could get a lawyer but she didn't need this to go any further than it already was.

"Browne! Browne... I know we have our history, I know you got your history, I know you have some sorta intel of this investigation and the fact you were spotted on scene just seems to bring me further into my conclusion," She shrugged.
