Another art of King (Prince) from concept-arts of Sky by Tom Zhao.
This time it was inspired by Orbit's concept-arts with King.
• | "Hello fellow sky kids!" | •
The King returned to the Sky after very long vacation.
(I'm sorry, my friends and I were joking about the return of King after beta season update)

Some sketches, while I didn't have electricity today.
And sorry, I suck at drawing umbrellas.
Another Oc you say- say nO mOre! I got it!
Got into Sky:COTL recently and I just got a very nice idea for a OC so here she is! Daughter of the all mighty tank himself ^^
I have a short summary of her backstory that I sent to my friends so here it is here too, not professional but it gets the job done.
Daughter of the Golden Wasteland elder. Big stressed dad too worried about his daughter and from war that happened he gets too protective. Doesn't let her too far away without his supervision or the watch of the Krills. So she was lOnely a lot, saddddd, but she had a lot to explore and her dad let her go to the forgottten ark as her safe getaway. But ofc Bouncer was nearby. The hounds attack her sometimes too if she does anything sus that goes against her dads wishes so she got a sword and sometimes a big shield to protect herself.Training with her dad from time to time, sO sHe a WaRrIor. Since in my headcanons not many would really go into wasteland(she wouldn't interact a lot) she is pretty quiet and bad with words, especially with strangers. So when she does interact she'd often use her hands too for signaling like "come here" the "scolding finger" "over there" and those simple ones. And she'd be pretty shy in certain situations. Bothered if she thinks she spoke too much or out of place or something like that. AnxIoUs lil thing. But she also helped several travelers get through Wasteland, little words spoken, and she'd disappear before they could like thank her or speak to her more, ask her questions and stuff.
Still developing her and I love her. 😔
I had this charming idea to make a metal album cover when we visited the office today
what would we sing about?
I had to restart this four whole times, but it’s the most detailed piece ive made in a while. At least 10 hours of my life i cant get back 🙌
Happy belated birthday, friend. It’s based off of the town kiki’s delivery service takes place in
i think the birds are plotting to take over
I rarely doodle moths due to my inability to draw symmetrical things, but on the other hand sah is about to get the ever loving crap beaten out of him by a two foot tall moff
this was a moth study FYI
Sah but hes dressed like ace attorney and probably mocking you
Want to make your own summer lights bunny friend? Here’s how!
Tim is looking for new recruits to join his army. Here’s a tutorial on how to make your own summer lights bunny!
Pardon the lighting and half the shots being unfocused. OH WELL HAHAHAH
Materials: some form of clay, whether it be air dry or polymer. Personally, i use polymer. It needs to be tempered, meaning you have to work with it for a bit before it becomes pliable.
First, roll your clay into one large sphere and two smaller ones. The large one will serve as the body and the small ones the ears.
Next, shape the two smaller spheres into triangles. The body should resemble a very rounded rectangle.
Kinda like a smashed jelly bean from the side view.
Stretch the triangles a fair bit. They should taper the higher you get.
Press the bottom of the triangle onto a surface at an angle, so you get something like the picture above. This isnt necessary but i find it easier to connect the ears to the body that way.
Stick them on one of the shorter ends with the ears pointing backward.
Tim is overseeing his creation.
Next, begin to smooth the ears into the head. You can use your finger or any tool with a rounded tip. I use the end of a paintbrush.
Your new friend’s face might start to look a bit squished, but you can fix that later. Its important we remove the seams from the bunny. I personally ignore the seams in the back, since i can paint over them and dont want to cause any unnecessary distortions.
Fix the snout again and voila! Your tim is ready to be BAKED IN THE FIREY HEAT OF AN OVEN.
What to do with a giant bunny on my desk?
Oh.
I know.
Two new creatures! Flight bird and turtle 🐢
Sometimes I’m seized by a creative fit and four hours later, each of my limbs is covered in paint and my room is a mess
i squished the poor bird a fair bit. This angle doesn’t do it justice 😗
EVERYONE
MEET TIM AND JIM
my beloved sons. my dream is to one day make marshmallows shaped like the bunny and devour them whole
How to paint your sky creature
This is only my experience, but I figured some tips in here would be useful for someone
Sorry i dont have an example ready to be painted, but I’m here to give y’all some much needed advice when painting a clay sky creature.
What you’ll need:
paints of choice
Three different sizes of paintbrush, although you can make do with one
Patience if you don’t have the right type of paint
I learned this the hard way, if you don’t have the right kind of materials then this can end up being a long and painful process.
First of all, certain types of paint won’t stick. You’ll have to sand the clay a bit with rough grain sandpaper, or put bits on at a time and blow dry it on medium heat.
Here is the type I use. This actually sticks to the clay for some reason, but i couldn’t find an ingredients list anywhere. I DO NOT KNOW WHY IT WORKS. I use it to make a base coat for other colors to stick on.
Here’s the other type i use for color. Even though this is also acrylic paint, it doesn’t like to stick.
To make a base coat, use quick, even strokes to cover your creature. It doesn’t matter what color it is, just that it offers something for your paint to grab onto. Don’t obsessively keep brushing over an area, because the paint will start to dry and you will get a bumpy texture with dried paint blobs everywhere. This tip applies through the whole process.
This is what happened to Tim. It’s not pretty.
(Only if you have paint that won’t stick) Once you’re done with your base coat, let it dry thoroughly or else it’ll mix with the other colors you’re using.
Here’s a boat I made. The texture is more even, with a few bumps. Not everything is perfect so don’t worry about it.
If you didn’t need a base coat or you’re done with it, start painting your creature with the color that is greatest in frequency. If you want a gradient, like i did with Tim, put the next color on before the first coat is done drying. Blend it a bit and there you have it!
If you have a color that you want to use in different areas, make sure you work quickly before your palette dries. It’s hard to mix the same color twice. I prefer to work with one color at a time.
Now paint the details on!
Before you know it, you’ll have your own group of sky creatures!
ALSO, DO NOT USE THESE PAINTBRUSHES. THEYRE SOFT AND SPREAD PAINT UNEVENLY
Thank you for coming to my art class
Quick little sketch I did for a friend
“And then I learned the truth,
How everything good in life seems to lead back to you,
And every single time I run into your arms,
I feel like I exist for love.”
