Republicans are the type of people to want a woman dead for aborting a 1 day old fetus that was going to grow up in an abusive foster home and then starve to death after aging out of the system, but will tell you to put down your dog if it stubbed its toe
"If more of Gen Z had been exposed to sexualization that's way too mature for them and had been taught to view women as objects from a young age, they'd be republicans."
Nice call out there, pal.
"transgender operations on illegal aliens who are in prison"
the illegal aliens in prison:
People love to discredit things like this as a conspiracy and people doom fretting and such but... The reality is that quite literally globally the rich and powerful (particularly the men) want to return us to a world where they are the only people with freedom, resources and control.

Sometimes incremental change is the only change possible, and I for one would much rather have incremental change that (even subtly and slowly!) does something rather than wasting time with infighting and squabbling amongst ourselves getting nothing done.
And yeah, it's not ideal. I know that. We all know.
Being told to go vote while having our rights taken away feels like shit. But I'd rather cast my damn vote than not cast it, and if we don't vote, the republicans are going to keep voting and keep winning because they show up and we don't.
And you can do more than that, if you've the capability. Donate to abortion funds and planned parenthood if you have the money! Go to protests if you know you can stay safe! Email your senators if you feel comfortable doing that! And if you can't do those things for one reason or another, then go vote--especially in the primaries so we get a better candidate next time.
Sitting on the internet being sad and feeling helpless is not going to help us.
I too am sick of being told to vote as my rights are stripped away. But it's better to do it than to not, because these days, us not voting is a win for the fascists.
Some of you really need to drop the “incremental change is worthless” shit and start appreciating the sacrifices of the activists who spent hundreds of years making the incremental changes that made this country livable for people who aren’t straight white Christian men.
I’ve seen a lot of posts about how “well Democrats could have prevented this but didn’t, so they’re just as bad as Republicans and voting is worthless”, and those posts do a massive disservice to all the people who have been fucking trying. Almost every issue I’ve seen people complain about Democrats not preventing, there’s a bill that would’ve fixed it that got stalled by Republicans in the House or Senate. Democrats tried to pass abortion protection just last month but Republicans in the Senate blocked it. Acting like Democrats totally have the power to fix everything and just aren’t doing it is not only blatantly untrue, but it’s massively damaging and spreads a message of helplessness and despair. That’s the last fucking thing we need right now!
You know why evangelicals have so much power despite being a minority of the population? Because they show up. They’re a dedicated, consistent voting block who show up to EVERY election, every town hall meeting, and every PTA meeting, vocally and en masse. And it took them 50 years, but now we’re seeing the results of all that grassroots organizing.
So yeah. There’s not going to be a revolution that just magically fixes every problem with this country. There IS going to be a huge number of people who wake up every day determined to make tiny changes - to their town, their community, their schools, their libraries - and they’re going to do that every day for 50 years, and if there’s enough of them, we’ll get there. It’s slow and it sucks and it’s not glamorous or exciting, but it’s how progress is made. So get off your high horse and join us, and maybe we can get there a little faster.
haha time for another rant because fuck my civics teacher
so we have another assignment about picking issues that are most important in the US
this time we have to write a TDA and this will help us decide how liberal or conservative we are. i know i’m going to be far on the liberal side bc i disagree with most of the conservative points he gave us
anyhow we have to choose three points from the article that “represent the major issues for either you or most americans.” one of the points is same-sex marriage.
these are the points (liberal left, conservative right):
so yeah i’m going with the liberal side and no this isn’t a “major issue” for the american population, so yeah i might out myself in civics. :)))
I’m fucking terrified right now. My hands are shaking so bad I can barely type (thank you autocorrect). I try not to talk about politics on my blog, but I’m a trans man living in the U.S., and it’s kind of unavoidable. So trigger warning below cut for mentions of SA, hate crimes and political stuff. And also swearing. Side note - when I use the phrase “my people,” I mean those who are trans, disabled (physically, mentally, or both), and those who don’t fit into the “normal” standards that society expects.
Seeing trump flags around my neighborhood on two cars makes me feel so fucking scared. When I see a trump flag, what I really see is a sign that says “your existence as a person is worth less than mine,” because that seems to be what they think. I mean, I’m transgender, mentally ill, and physically disabled. Also I’m alterhuman and a furry, which probably means two more reasons to hate me. Being trans means being four times as likely to be the victim of a hate crime, most often physical or sexual assault, including murder. I don’t feel safe walking outside my own apartment alone. I don’t feel safe at work. Or anywhere else. Literally the only thing that trump supporters don’t hate about me is my skin color (which is stupid because why should skin color even matter). I represent nearly everything that they hate. But I’m not going to hide who I am, because I don’t want to torture myself just to please those who will hate me regardless.
I’m constantly looking over my shoulder whenever I’m not in my apartment with every door locked. I don’t feel safe at work because I don’t know enough about the people I work with. Whenever I see a stranger, I get scared because I have no way to know if they’re part of the group that wants my people killed and erased. To me, anyone I don’t know on a personal level could be a threat to my life. And I’m supposed to just live with that fear.
Most mornings, I wake up shaking and in a cold sweat after nightmares about the things being done to my people all the time.
If I don’t know you, my first instinct is to assume that you’re a threat. Because that’s how it feels to be seen as less worthy of life than other people. I live in constant fear and there’s nothing I can do about it but vote and hope that there’s a chance of my people being treated like people.
I’m saying this online instead of talking to someone in the real world because I don’t trust anyone anymore and I have no way to know who sees me as a person and who sees me as a political issue that needs to be removed.
”think of the children”
I AM actually. That’s my job, to “think of the children”.
the children should have open and engaging environments to learn about and know lgbtq+ people and couples. it’s normal and they should know it
they should also be able to learn about other cultures, religions, and races without the stereotypes and hatred that bigots love to spout
they should know that people that come from different circumstances are still ordinary people
keep your discriminatory bullshit away from those children that you’re so worried about. it’s the bigots who’re the problem
“Think of the children” just say you hate people who’re actually worth getting to know and learning from.
…..” Family friendly” is the same type of issue but I’m too tired to type it out rn. just so we’re all aware
sorry about all the political posts I will be reblogging and maybe writing, I live in america and am watching the absolute shit show that is th presidential debate. i absolutely despise both of these geriatric old windbags who dodge questions like is an olympic sport and they’re going for gold
You motherfuckers yes I hate Kamala too but when she is announced to be the Democratic candidate we are all going to shoot fireworks and go to the goddamn polls
before we get an official announcement on who is replacing biden as the nominee, im just going to put this out there: do not mess this up. i don't care how little you like politics. i don't care if this new nominee isn't your first choice.
our alternative is trump. third party splits the votes, and abstaining is just going to fuck the entire united states over. your vote (AND support) matters, and i better see anyone who doesn't want trump to be elected and the United States to become a fascist, authoritarian regime throwing their full support behind this new nominee.
we have three months to go. we're in crunch time. if you don't want to lose your rights, support this new nominee with everything you've got.
edit: just in case this somehow wasn't obvious, this is NOT the post to be a pessimist on. don't say we're fucked. say TRUMP is fucked. we can't go back and change the nomination timeline, but we can absolutely support our new nominee and ensure they get elected.
Don’t ever come at me saying “both parties are the same”
No, no they’re not. the REPUBLICANS are doing this.
Fuck them straight to hell.
So I went to read the Kids Online Safety Act, thinking that it couldn't possibly be as bad as what people are making it out to be, I mean I'm a lawyer and expert in statutory interpretation, it can't be that bad, right?
Oh no. KOSA IS that bad. It will literally eradicate queer people online.
The bill says that a "covered platform" - broadly defined as "anything on the internet a minor might use" which is literally the entire fucking internet- has a "duty" to protect minors from anything that might harm them, including "sexual exploitation" and other undefined terms
It also gives state attorneys general the ability to sue to enforce it.
So here's exactly what's gonna happen:
Wacko republicans, as they've been doing with increasing force this year and last, are going to sue any and every website in existence, saying that the mere existence of LGBT people online constitutes sexual abuse of minors. And websites are gonna be so afraid of not doing the most that they'll just axe all LGBT everything.
Like. Republicans have been calling all LGBT people groomers and child molesters for years. The lead Republican literally admitted this bill will be used to attack trans people.
This bill is BAD bad. I'm appalled that democrats are lining up behind what is clearly a republican Trojan horse to eradicate LGBT people from the entire internet.
