[SCAN] BTS’ FAIRYTALE CHARACTERS FOR THE LATEST ARMY.KIT EXPLAINED!
JUNGKOOK: Peter Pan
A free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys, interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and occasionally ordinary children from the world outside Neverland. Peter Pan has become a cultural icon symbolizing youthful innocence and escapism.
To Jungkook: The tale of BTS and ARMY is a coming of age story written together. He picked Peter Pan because as he said before he felt like since he debuted he was stuck at the age 15. But at the same time, he grew up thanks to ARMYs and his members.
V: Uturi
Uturi is originally based on a Korean folk tale of Agijangsu, the Mighty Baby with superpowers who met a tragic death just for being born into a lowly family. He was born to a poor farming family in the village of Yongsan, Miryang, in the South Gyeongsang Province. Uturi was born with wings under his arms and by the time he was a few weeks old, he could fly. His parents tried to kill him for fear that the authorities would come, and hence put him under a boulder and rice stalks on an oil press. Finally, after three attempts, the baby died. Although there are many versions to the tale, with him living until middle age in some, the basis of the story remains – parents or officials who try to kill an extraordinary baby for fear of its power and what it may bring. With the parents or officials signifying the public and Uturi someone with extraordinary power, the tale represents the idea that anyone with great potential can be crushed by those that fear them.
To V: The tale of BTS and ARMY is a story that lingers in our minds. No matter how people try to crush BTS & ARMY down, V tells us that our story will never be forgotten and people who want us gone are just threatened by how great we are.
JIMIN: Pied Piper
The legend dates back to the Middle Ages, the earliest references describing a piper, dressed in multicolored (“pied”) clothing, who was a rat-catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe. When the citizens refuse to pay for this service as promised, he retaliates by using his instrument’s magical power on their children, leading them away as he had the rats. There are many contradictory theories about the Pied Piper. Some suggest he was a symbol of hope to the people of Hamelin, which had been attacked by plague; he drove the rats from Hamelin, saving the people from the epidemic.
To Jimin: The tale of BTS and ARMY is a story that makes us imagine a warm-hearted ending. Many know pied piper as the one who ended children’s life for vengeance, but this was just one out of many stories related to the tale. Some say that the pied piper saved the people during an epidemic. And Jimin wants to do the same with his voice and songs.
RM: Daddy Long Legs
Judy Abbott is an orphan who has been given the opportunity to study at the prestigious Lincoln Memorial High School by a mysterious benefactor whom she only knows as “John Smith”. She has only seen his shadow once, and because of his long legs, she calls him “Daddy Long Legs”. The only payment she is to give her benefactor is that she write him letters every month, with no expectation of them being responded to. Daddy-Long-Legs is a profound and tender homage to the power of awakening love.
To RM: The tale of BTS and ARMY is a folk tale. A folk tale is a story originating in popular culture, typically passed on by word of mouth. And isn’t that BTS & ARMYs’ story? Media, shows, public … we were ignored by many, but we kept being heard as our story was so great to not be shared.
JHOPE: Pinocchio
Pinocchio was carved by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a Tuscan village. He was created as a wooden puppet but he dreams of becoming a real boy. He is notably characterized for his frequent tendency to lie, which causes his nose to grow.
To JHope: The tale of BTS and ARMY is brilliant and awesome. Pinocchio was a story made to make children learn to be honest. And JHope thanks to it learned to become pure sunshine. Just how this story influenced him, he believes BTS & ARMY can have this kind of influence too. The one that is so brilliant, it just changes you to the better.
SUGA: Puss In Boots
The tale opens with the third and youngest son of a miller receiving his inheritance—a cat. At first, the youngest son laments, as the eldest brother gains the mill, and the middle brother gets the mules. The feline is no ordinary cat, however, but one who requests and receives a pair of boots. Determined to make his master’s fortune. Basically the anthropomorphic cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for his penniless and low-born master.
To Suga: The tale of BTS and ARMY is a never ending story. A cat made his poor master not just rich but marry the country’s beloved princess. Just like how ARMYs made BTS this huge today. Puss in Boots also shares Suga’s wits and wisdom but also crazy vision. Just how a cat decided that his master will become a ruler. Suga said that BTS will achieve big things and many laughed, yet he indeed reached each goal he spoke of and the unknown Korean group from the small agency is now going for world domination. And yes, it’s a never ending story, because just when you think BTS & ARMY reached their peak, they grow wings and fly even higher.
JIN: The Little Prince
The story follows a young prince who visits various planets in space, including Earth, and addresses themes of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss. Despite its style as a children’s book, The Little Prince makes observations about life and human nature.
To Jin: The tale of BTS and ARMY is a story with a happy ending. The biggest plot twist is that the ending of The Little Prince is super sad. The prince has left the Earth—it looked like he died when the snake bit him, but his body is nowhere to be found. The author just ended it this way. There are no answers and the only answers you can get about The Little Prince’s ending depends on your own perception and imagination. This story was written for children but grown-ups can learn more from it as many of us forget that we were even once children, and we also forgot to question the world and ourselves. Like the beautiful quote from the book says: “All grown-ups were once children … but only few of them remember it.”

You Got This
(Suicide mention)
September is know for having many important events in it, Hispanic heritage month (woo!), labor day, the remembrance of the 9/11 attack but it is also know for being the month of suicide prevention. Suicide has always been something very serious. Some people see it as escape and many other things. I may get attacked because people will say, “Well how do you know?” Well I understand the feeling of being worthless, numb, dumb, horrible, a waste of space, someone who can never do anything right, and like I am unfixable beyond comparison so why do I keep going? Many people feel this way because something bad had happened in their life or they lost someone or their parents are abusive or whatever the situation is. For me it started with feeling worthless until getting up seemed like a chore. My “friends” were all over the place... I was betrayed multiple times destroying my trust and faith that people could actually be nice to me. I hit my all time low when I started cutting. It felt like a relief and like I was finally human yet I had no idea I was slowly destroying myself in the process. People didn’t believe me when I told them I was depressed, I was always told to keep it a secret when in reality I needed a community... It got worse when I attempted suicide for the first time. I remember I felt so worthless and like all I was to my family was a mistake. Yet I managed to stop myself because people told me how much they needed me and how much they loved me. I tell my friends now who are struggling through hard things like depression and suicidal thoughts, that they can survive and that things can get better. I don’t know what things you are going through but I hope you see this as a message of encouragement and that no matter how low you can get, people still love you, and that people still need you. You don’t have to go into the fight alone because there are people like me who are willing to fight the good fight with you and that you will survive. Just know that people will always love you even if you think they don’t, they do. Just remember that not everything has to end. You got this! You will survive! You’ve made it this far to read this, keep going! We are all proud of you for coming this far. You Got This!
“A little bit of blood may not seem like a lot, but a life is everything, so don’t waste it.”
