Summary: Levi takes a job without you, and well, if that’s how it’s gonna be, you’ll show him you can do just fine on your own. 

You’ve been alone for a year.

Kenny never really bothered to come back to say goodbye, and Levi tells you the last time he saw your surly guardian was for a moment. He was a face in the crowd, surveying the gutted body of Vic, the beaten and stabbed corpse of the tall boy whos name you never caught.

You and Levi did what you could do. You returned to your home built through ill gotten gains, your sanctuary constructed from trust and growing up side by side. You improved it, at the will of Levi the Dictator, who constantly bullied you to fix this, and clean that, and for the love of god dust that shelf.

Days turned into months, turned into years, and eventually you stopped waiting for Kenny and started scrambling for higher ground, for better weapons and thicker clothes. You bullied your way through marketplaces by day, and raided them by night. Things never got the chance to get harried; not since Levi’s first kill. Now he led you, sneaking through shadows and striking through smog, always knowing just what to do.

You had laughed, frantic and aching and triumphant when you realized that the Ackerman Instinct Kenny had so fondly spoke of wasn’t another lie. You watched as Levi danced around opponents, slipped behind enemy lines. He massacred men twice his age and skill level. He was invaluable even if you had only ever wanted him to be safe happy warm.

Naturally, this behavior would begin to attract attention.

Jeongguk’s punch must have hurt like a bitch because the amount of blood that was pouring out of Lee Howon-nim’s nose was not normal. But it wasn’t like you could stop him, Jeongguk was going hard with his fists flying and cracking bones here and there and even though you yelled at him to stop— your pleas fell on death ears.

“Oh God, Jeongguk please!” you screamed, eyes wide opened as you watched the awful events unfold in front of you. You ran up to them and tried to drag him away from your boss but Jeongguk’s movements were so aggressive and violent you couldn’t get a hand in without risking to get hit.

His face was red with anger as he managed to get Lee Howon down on the ground before straddling him, giving Jeongguk the perfect opportunity to really cause damage. And he did not miss the chance as he swung his fists and held the other man down.

Jeongguk was literally towering over the older man as he kept throwing punches after punches. And the worst part of all of it was that you had no idea why he was doing it— for real had he gone crazy?! After a long minute or so, a big beefy guy came running up to you, you recognized him as Lee Howon’s part-time driver, and he had to pry Jeongguk off your boss to break the fight.

A/N: It’s finally here. Hope this makes your day a little better with the Corona virus isolation and stuff. Gonna try and finish writing the last few drabbles in my inbox next and have something ready to post day after tomorrow. I’m gonna try and post more since we’re all stuck inside.

You blinked a few times, eyes too heavy for you to be awake now, but not really given a choice because you were awake and there was no turning back. Or turning at all. You were definitely trapped by the warm bodies on either side of you…and on top of you?

You frowned and peeked up at Jimin who was sprawled across you, Taehyung, and…whoever was behind you…Yoongi, maybe? Yeah, must have been. You vaguely recalled him coming home and you whining for him to cuddle you.

You still felt a little floaty, but this time your limbs felt lighter than air. You wiggled a bit, then managed to slip out of the hole you were sleeping in, only disturbing Yoongi—and he didn’t fully wake up.

You climbed up onto the couch, shrinking and flying over the boys and into the kitchen. You grew again, pulling out some fairy-fruits in the hopes they would help you feel less floaty.

A hand supported you as you wobbled a bit.

He’s cheerful most of the time, trying to cheer anyone who feels down and be there for them. Like that time, when Mina failed on her psychology test and cried on your shoulder, while Jimin assured her everything will be fine. He came back with a chocolate bar and single rose the next day.

But most of the time, he doesn’t show the way how he really feels or what he’s been going through. Like that time, when you’ve seen him struggling in the practice room you randomly passed by. The image is engraved in your mind to this day. He was there alone, sitting on the floor covering his face with his hands. At first, you weren’t sure if it’s really him since he changed his hair color back to his usual sandy blonde. But then you’ve noticed oversized sweater hugging his torso, the one you complimented him when Mina said she isn’t sure about it. You were debating about going in but then you’ve noticed not to, even when he stood up and threw frustratedly his black cap on the floor. You were once remembered that this is none of your business.

A low sound, a mixture of a sensitive purr and threatening growl rumbled in his throat. The sweet scent of Y/n stood in the air and Jimin examined where it smelt fresher and where it was stale. The entire night he had spent on his own, rolling in his soft sheets, barely getting any sleep. But his pride forbade him to repeat last night actions. Even though he missed the warm scratches he would not bow that simple.

That’s going to be the eighth shelter you break in.

It was after the second one that you realized that you just couldn’t walk in and ask for Jimin — that you had to be smart and lie to their faces so you could look around or simply find a way not to be seen.

And once it was getting dark and everything started to close it became easier — to blend into the shadows, to hold your breath longer if needed and make your steps less noisy.

Not for the first time in your stay on this planet, you found yourself once more overcome with awe at the sheer beauty of your surroundings.

Today was a day you’d been looking forward to ever since Seokjin had asked you if you’d like to tag along three days ago—today you finally ventured past the tall, looming obsidian walls that guarded the edge of the palace’s property. You were going into town! The fabled city that nestled below the incline upon which the palace sat, with markets, stalls, parks, and all the other good things you’d heard of from Namjoon and the other humans but hadn’t had the pleasure of experiencing yet. You were beyond excited, quite literally bouncing down the path beside Seokjin. Contrary to what you might have expected, the male was surprisingly unbothered by your sudden hyperactivity. In fact, you suspected from the slight bounce in his step that he was barely restraining himself from skipping down the path with you.

“Where are we going first?” you couldn’t help yourself from asking Seokjin, not for the first time. Your arms were swinging and you felt a bit like a child but were too excited to really care.

Seokjin snorted as your hastened pace caused you to trip on a dark plum-coloured branch that had fallen onto the black stone path and blended in. His arm shot out with ease and stopped you from face-planting, a sheepish laugh tumbling from your throat in response.

“Well, I have a list of supplies I am to fetch. Normally a task like this would be assigned to someone in a lesser position, but since the event is so important it has fallen onto me. Additionally, it occurred to me that you hadn’t seen the town yet and might enjoy the opportunity to venture past the palace walls.”

“Aw, Seokjinnie~” you cooed immediately, your first instinct always to give in to your playful whims. You paused your skipping to latch onto the kelkie’s arm dramatically, nearly tripping again in the process. Was it your shoes? Or were you just incredibly uncoordinated today? “How kind of you, I can always trust you to take care of me!”

Seokjin let out a loud laugh at that, allowing you to cling for a moment before he peeled you off. “I know, I’m far too generous and considerate. Combined with my incredible good looks, it is a wonder I do not have suitors lining up for miles.”

You joined him in his laughter, bracing yourself on his arm. You didn’t bother adding to that since it was already funny enough as is, and in the following comfortable silence the male’s words from earlier caught up to you.

IMPORTANT! Before reading this chapter, I suggest to re-read chapter 2. Chapter 2 goes on two different sides of the story, italics are flashbacks and they’re in line while normal writing is the current time. But between the hospital scene at the end and Jimin’s call from the beginning, there is an unknown. Chapter 3 starts with that time. Until the italics are over, you’re reading the time between them.

You stopped speaking, turning your gaze to meet his doe brown eyes, seeking a spark of truth from them - because if you saw anything, anything related to the love he’s been saying that he felt, you’d forgive him.

He looked at you, eyes full of fear, concern - but you weren’t sure if he was afraid of losing you or afraid of you learning everything.

So you just pulled the trigger.
