Hiatus Announcement

I haven’t been on Tumblr for very long, but I was lucky enough to have found a handful of precious, lovely mutuals who have been so kind to me.

@anotakugardener , @highly-functioning-mitochondria , @etcrownew and many others.

I really regret that I have to make this announcement, that I have to step away from a community of such wonderful people.

I know all of you who are reading this are among the most caring, understanding people I have ever met. Especially when it comes to mental health problems.

I don’t have access to a diagnosis by a professional, since therapy is expensive and difficult to acquire. It’s fine, really, and all it means for me is that I have to be very aware of my mental state and monitor what issues I have so that I can catch symptoms of my more serious episodes before they happen.

I have two big issues that I have dealt with for as long as I can remember: debilitating anxiety, and severe mood swings

Usually, I can keep these things from getting out of hand by following the standard procedure for staying mentally and physically healthy: eat well, sleep well, work out, and have hobbies that I enjoy

But recently, my hobbies have started to fall away (I can barely read novels or even play my favourite video games anymore) and my internet addiction has been getting worse. I used to have an unhealthy dependency on internet interaction in the past, and now it’s resurfaced and I really, really don’t like where this is going. 

I tried, I really did, to cut out everything else so I could stay on here with all of you, but Tumblr has unfortunately turned out to be the most addictive thing of all, and even though I love you all, I’ve started slipping into apathy and going through the motions without actually genuinely reacting when I speak with you guys. You’re all such wonderful people, but I’m getting overwhelmed by things outside of Tumblr too and everything’s just started mixing and blurring into a big mess that I have to get away from for a while.

The only healthy hobby I have left is my dancing.

And estimating from past experiences, with all the stress I’ve been under, one of two things is going to happen to me if I don’t change something: either I’ll get so anxious it’ll make me physically sick, or my mood swings will culminate into complete and utter apathy toward everything, even the things I love.

If I get physically sick, I won’t be able to go to dance classes anymore.

If my symptoms push me into apathy, I’ll mess up my upcoming sewing lessons, which would be bad because I want to try out sewing as a potential career option this year.

And this is my explanation to all of you who I’m so grateful to have met.

My explanation for why I’m going to be uninstalling the Tumblr app from my phone and stepping away from daily internet interaction.

So, yeah. I’m so sorry.

I’ll be on hiatus indefinitely.

Otaku Gardener and Nixie, I’ll be contacting you privately since we have regular correspondence, and we’ll work something out.

If I come back, I promise I’ll be a better and more reliable person.
