Abby nodded, and was unable to help herself from showing off just a little. “Oui, j’ai eu sept ans de cours. My grandmother was super into forwarding my education, so I started almost as soon as I moved to Seattle and continued until I took AP French in high school. Which, yes, is a thing.” With a sigh, she held up her hand, waving her fingers. “Five. I speak five languages. English, obviously. French. I took Latin-slash-old age Italian to make more sense of the Renaissance stuff I had to read for college. Then there’s Elvish, and Klingon. Though there are no AP classes for those.” She lowered her hand, placing it over her phone out of habit. “I agree. Personally, I would never eat bugs, even if it was one of those Fear Factor situations where I would get a bunch of money for it. Thanks but no thanks.” She smiled as Aiden recalled memories of his parents, triggering memories of her own father. “My dad was really big on French toast. He claimed to have a better recipe than the French themselves, because when I was a little kid I thought the French had invented it. Every time he made it he tried something different. Bananas, powdered sugar. My grandmother could never quite replicate it.” She sat up slightly. “Does that place have French toast? Because I’d order that like, fifty different times and watch every movie with a different plate of French toast and be totally fine.” Abby pouted at him slightly. “Are you kidding? I would never dream of such a thing.”

Aiden’s jaw dropped quite a bit. It was probably obvious that he was extremely confused by the phrase that Abby just said. “I really hope that you didn’t just call me a piece of crap or something,” he laughed. “Wow, your grandma seems like a cool woman. My grandma would just sneak me candy when my parents had their backs turned,” he laughed, reminiscing of his happy childhood. “Okay, five. Wow, what else can you do? Do you happen to have your resume with you? Are there other talents that you have that I’m unaware of?” Aiden was quite impressed with Abby and it was cool that she wasn’t shy about her man talents. He smiled hearing Abby talk about her dad. It was nice that the two could share their childhood memories. He didn’t want to press anything about Abby’s childhood but he took note of everything she said, picking up on the verb tenses that she used. “That’s impressive. I would say that I could make you French toast, but we both know that I’d probably buy it from a store and heat it up on a pan and pretend like I actually made it,” he laughed. “Yeah, they’re really known for their French toast and their waffles. I love a good waffle. I could honestly eat waffles forever,” he admitted. “Okay, good. As long as you hold your promise. I promise I won’t fall asleep during any of the movies because to be honest, I have a tendency of doing that.”

“Oh my god Disney vinyl!? Where can I get some?” She exclaimed, suddenly extremely excited by the idea of listening to Beauty and the Beast on her record player. “There’s nothing wrong with that, I’d definitely own those.” She moved to keep looking through the records as Aiden asked how her day was, shrugging a bit. “Eh? Is that a response? I guess it’s fine. What about you? How have you been?”

“I don’t know if you can find those anymore to be honest. I’m sure that there are some at thrift shops or something but I don’t they sell them anymore in regular vinyl shops,” he continued on. That vinyl he owned was older than him and he never dared put it on the record player. He wanted to keep it intact the way it was when it was handed to him. “Eh can be a response. Anything can be a response really. I’ve been good. I’m loving the summer weather and my dogs have been loving that I take them to the beach on a weekly basis.”

“Back in Vegas, a guy at my MMA gym had a dog, and it.. hated people. It didn’t want to me pet by anyone, sometimes not even by him,” she told him with a small laugh. “Don’t worry, I won’t expose anything, I promise. I imagine this is much nicer than any of the main sidewalks, they must go crazy out there.” Jensen shrugged. “I’m a personal trainer. Nothing too exciting,” she said. “What about you?

“I take it back. Maybe the guy was too aggressive and it scared the dog from affection or something,” he assumed. Dogs were naturally friendly but maybe there was a backstory to why the dog acted the way that it did. “Yeah. My dogs love it here. I usually let them walk leash free. It’s a pretty safe area and they usually walk back to me if I’m taking way too long to catch up to them,” he laughed. “That’s pretty exciting. You’re helping people get into shape and live a healthier life,” he responded. “I’m a high school English teacher.”

“Gotta be a lil more tricky than that with me brother,” he laughed slightly about the shots of water. Waving his hand off for the bucket. “Mmm no no I’m good I…I think so, for now, at least.” Laying back down on the couch he snuggled up digging his foot in the little crevasse between the cushions and the back of the couch. “I love this couch. I think this is the best couch I’ve ever been on,” he muttered as his eyelids fluttered shut listening to Aiden. “MMmm I’ll be around already cheated death twice my man,” but what Arlo didn’t say was that Aiden was right, the drinking was getting a bit out of control. If this kind of comment had come from someone else he would have maybe gotten more defensive, but it was hard to get upset with Aiden. The guy was just so damn pure. He couldn’t help but laugh, “Buddy ya’ll are gonna have to put me in a goddamn time machine and send me back a month n a half ago at this point,” he nodded. “She knows my feelings, yea I told her I loved her…n..we..did…some stuff but I fucked it all up, so, that’s where I’m at right now. Balls in her court so to speak…” pulling the blanket up over his shoulders he snuggled. “Mm you go now, you gotta crush? Who’d I gotta talk your smart cute lil ass up to?”

“This couch is pretty comfy. I’m surprised I got it for the price I did. I have fallen asleep on this couch one too many times,” he laughed. Aiden listened to Arlo stating that he’s already cheated death, but alcohol could slowly be a killer, but Aiden didn’t want to press his friend about it. Yes, he had his concerns, but it wasn’t his place to make his friend feel bad about it or anything. He sighed, hearing about Arlo and Bex. He felt bad for Arlo, it was a tough situation to be in when you mess things up with a girl you like. “Well what exactly did you do to fuck it up? You have to prove to her that you won’t hurt her again or whatever. Girls like that stuff,” he mentioned. “But you have to mean it. Like you don’t have to do crazy gestures like getting writing in the sky, but maybe drop off her favorite breakfast after she’s had a long shift at work. It’ll show her how much you care, you know?” Aiden was giving advice in an area that he wasn’t too good at. “Take my advice with a grain of salt, but I’ve had so many girl friends at this point that I think I get the hang of what most girls want.” He laughed at Arlo’s question. “Well, it’s not really like an I think I’m going to marry her crush. It’s more like she’s really nice and we have this insane connection that I haven’t really felt with anyone, but I also don’t want to rush into something that might not even exist. It’d be so stupid if I confessed that I have a slight crush and she bro zones me or something. I don’t know. I don’t really date many people and I like to have a good friendship foundation before I dive into it because I’d like to be best friends with my future girlfriend, you know?” He continued rambling. “Plus I’m in this other weird situation where I’m hooking up with a girl but strictly as friends but then I had a slight crush but I’m over it now but still man, I don’t know. My love life is a mess. Maybe I’ll be single forever,” he chuckled. “Sorry for the rant. You can tell me more about Bex if you’d like. I can try to text her and tell her to love you back.”

“So what you’re saying is to volunteer and come see your puppies and just constantly be surrounded by dogs? You’re right, I should definitely do all that,” she said as she kept flipping through records, smiling at the idea of seeing Aiden’s dogs. “Do you think all the dogs would like an album? Just put a vinyl on and lay in a room of dogs?”

“I mean that’s one of the perks of being a volunteer at an animal shelter, but you might see some sad things as well,” he carried on, not wanting to mention that could happen to the animals there. “It’s pretty rewarding from what I hear. I hear that some volunteers also groom the dogs so that people are more willing to adopt them.” He laughed at her question and simply nodded. “Yeah. My dogs love to jam out to Elvis. It really gets them going, not so much when I try to sing though.”

Amanda was one of those people who judged the ones who bumped upon people and things because they were too busy texting or scrolling on their phones. Let’s just say, this would be a perfect time for anyone who believed in karma to claim it just came around and bit her in the ass. She lowered the pace of her morning jog to reply to one of her friends who’d just texted her a row of incoherent capital letters in response to the news she was back in town after five whole years. The blonde barely managed to text a sentence back before feeling her feet tangle onto something on the sand underneath her — more precisely, human feet. She stumbled forward rather gracelessly and miraculously managed to maintain her balance, but her cell phone flew out of her hands. “Fuck, I’m so sorry!” she hurried to apologize as she turned around to face the damage she’d done.
Who would’ve thought that Aiden would find running even remotely fun, let alone become one of his favorite work outs. Most days, he would take his dogs out with him, but he didn’t feel it was necessary to tire them out this early in the day. As Aiden was running along, he saw a blonde girl from a distance, but didn’t really take note of it. It wasn’t until the details of the girl’s face were coming into frame that he realized he was going to run into her if he didn’t slow down. He tried to move to the right, but was met with a biker who was clearly ringing her bell as loud as possible. He tried his best to dodge the girl approaching him, but he really couldn’t. He was stopped in his track pretty soon after the small collision. “Shit, are you okay?” he asked. He saw her cell phone a couple feet away and went to grab it before handing it back to her.
