“Well, according to the pack of testosterone that set this game up, it does. You do know whose party you’re at, right?” Alex had only come along because Marina and Sam had wanted to go. He’d have steered clear of the so-called ‘Riot Club’ otherwise. “It doesn’t matter, really,” he shook his head. “Popularity is very overrated. William might’ve filled this house with people, but he only has two actual friends, trust me.” 

Despite his grumpy attitude, Alex sensed her positivity, and although he would’ve usually rolled his eyes, he decided to give in, even if only a little. So, he picked up another quarter and tried again, failing miserably. “Well… you’re doing better than me. Guess you’re one step closer to prom queen!”

“I do. I thought Will was alright actually, just a bit moody-looking,” Aimee admitted, shrugging a shoulder. She wasn’t one to make harsh judgements, often seeing the best in others, even when they annoyed her. “Well, two friends is alright, ‘long as they’re good ones. I only had one real one in my last school, but she was brilliant. I was kinda’ hoping to have a few more this time, so I’m picking you as one of them.”

Aimee pouted as Alex missed the shot, having hoped he’d get it in, just for argument’s sake. “At least you made the effort, see? Even if you missed, you’ve gotta’ admit it was a little fun.” At the mention of prom queen, her nose wrinkled, clearly dissuaded. “Oh god. I mean, it’d be nice and everything, but I couldn’t handle the pressure. I’d shit myself as soon as they called my name, and it’d be all over my dress. It’d be like Carrie, but poo instead of blood.”

“I didn’t realise winning made you popular,” Aimee replied honestly, glancing at the beer pong table with a new sense of awe. “I would’ve tried harder if I knew that. I was just kinda’ lobbing it, when it was my turn. Although I did get one in, that’s gotta’ count for something, aye?”
