Listen, okay? Listen. I’m gunna get a bit real here. I think some people are getting the idea that a possible redemption arc = all of eclipse’s actions being excused. If Eclipse does get “redeemed”, and the arc is done well, that is not what it will mean.

If Eclipse does shift his view and he changes his ways, that will not suddenly make the actions he’s done before nonexistent. Solar Flare will still be dead, Lunar might still be dead, Sun will still have trauma, and Moon will still have no memories. If the show decides to go down the route where Eclipse will no longer be the antagonist, it will only mean that he isn’t actively trying to torture Sun and Moon.

What it could mean, though, is that Eclipse will give up the star. It could mean that he bitterly, begrudgingly opens up about why he thought Sun and Moon deserved the things he did to them. It could mean that one or both refuse to forgive him, or it could mean only one forgives him. It could mean that he tries to undo some of his actions, like taking back the wish and helping Sun and Moon and Earth have a stable, calm life ahead of them.

What it likely won’t mean is that Sun will start to be buddy-buddy with Eclipse and that Moon will accept him into the family and Eclipse will start to call KC “dad” and he’ll be all cheery smiles. It won’t mean that Earth will suddenly “make him realize the error in his ways” and he’ll be crying and sniffling and poking his fingers while he asks for forgiveness and everyone pats him on the head and tells him he’s already been forgiven.

Because that’s not Eclipse!

Eclipse acts the way he does because it’s a thistled barrier to “protect” him for being hurt and traumatized again. I know some of y’all believe Eclipse is “remorseless” and “not traumatized” and “100% evil” just because he acts the way he does but he isn’t. While Sun’s trauma made him anxious and jumpy, and Moon’s trauma made him constantly work to feel useful, Eclipse’s trauma made him bite back and get mad. Eclipse’s trauma made him bitter and jaded and cold.

If Eclipse were to be “redeemed”, he’d still be like that. He wouldn’t be actively using his every breathe to hurt Sun and Moon, but he’d still be defensive and rude. He’d force out an apology through gritted teeth and when he asks if they’re happy now, he’d feel betrayed when they say no. He’d be better but he’d be mad about it.

So. I dunno, I think my point is that some of y’all really don’t look past the walls that Eclipse built around himself and take him at face value and, on top of that, act like Eclipse being possibly “redeemed” would mean that the show does a 180 and Eclipse will give a lil grin and say sorry and everyone will cheer and hold hands. Pls pls pls if ur going to hate on Eclipse at least hate him because you understand him. Okay? Okay. I’m normal again.
