Midnight & Lady Illusion
Midnight & Lady Illusion
A scene from a Superhero/Supervillian romance I’m attempting to write but will probably end up sitting in my docs, unfinished for the rest of eternity. Enjoy! I may end up posting more if it gets written, who knows?

“Midnight?”
“Hello Illy” We are standing away from the rest of the funeral crowd, mourners dressed in all black with a few older people in brightly colored suits breaking up the solid wave of color, other superheroes. I had picked this spot on purpose, I doubt anyone but Illy would recognize me here.
“What are you doing here?!” Illy hisses “This isn’t the time for one of your schemes!”
“They weren’t good people you know” I say, leaning up against the tree behind me.
“Of course they were, they were heroes.” Her constant faith in people's good nature is adorable admirable.
“They played nice for the cameras, nothing more.”
“Even if that’s true, how would you know? I don’t think you ever even met them.”
“They fought constantly. They never physically hurt each other of course, had to keep up the show for the cameras, the perfect couple... with the perfect daughter.”
“So you’ve met their daughter? Is that how you know all this?”
A bitter laugh escapes my throat “Met is one way to put it.”
“What do you mean?”
“You ever wonder why their kid stopped showing up on television after a while? It’s because I refused to keep playing the perfect little princess while on camera.”
“You? But… you don’t even look like her…..”
“I’ve changed a lot since I was 9. Stopped wearing dresses that looked like they were made for dolls for one thing.”
“I...I’m so sorry….”
“For what? Their deaths or the fact that they were dicks? Because either way, don’t be.”
“But… They were your parents? You aren't upset that they died ?”
“It’s better just to leave sometimes, this was one of the times.” Illy just looks at me, “If it helps, I doubt they were ever actually in love, they just figured it out when I was born.”
“...So what are you going to do?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like…. With the grave?”
“You’ll see!” I’d been planning this for the entire time I had been in the graveyard. The internet is such a wonderful thing and Oceana, Ava, had alway loved flowers… I hope Illy enjoys it as much as I do. The ceremony finally comes to a close, and the coffins are lowered into the ground. The crowd disperses pretty quickly after that, leaving just me and Illy. I make my way towards the graves and Illy follows, I’m pretty sure she's worried that I’m going to do something to them but whatever. I stop in front of the graves, Illy stops right behind me but doesn’t do anything to try and stop me. It’s been a while since I’ve called upon anything other than shadows but those are rather bad for making discernible shapes, add a little light though… A flower flows into each of my hands, my attempt at an orange lily. I lay them on each of the graves and turn to look at Illy. “I’m sure Lady Illusion” I say, the title slightly mocking, “Could do much better, but there’s only so much you can do without color.”
“Lilies? Why?”
“Orange lilies to be specific. They symbolise hate and disdain.” Understanding flashes through Illy’s eyes. We stand there for a few minutes in silence. When suddenly something changes in Illy’s stance.
“I- I’ve got to go, I have a lot of homework a-and I told my roommate I would be back by now. Seeyousoon bye.” She says quickly then runs off. I stand there in shock.
“Well that’s new…” I turn away from where Illy had been standing only a minute prior and begin my walk back to my car. Homework waits for no one and with Illy gone there isn’t really a point to staying in the graveyard.

Reblog if you genuinely support asexuals
It terrifies me that there’s so much raging passion in the lgbt+ community that insist on marginalizing asexuals and implying that asexuals don’t deserve to have safe spaces. There’s still so much acephobia so I just wanna know which blogs are genuinely supportive and a safe space for asexuals
This has happened many times before, it will happen many times again. Janus is just used to it.

So! Looks like I’m one of the first people to post anything substantial regarding the new Sanders Sides episodes! Thanks weekend and my youtube addiction!
Having said that: SPOILERS FOR THE NEWEST SANDERS SIDES EPISODE! Have I Grown? - Five Years Later | A Sanders Sides Special
Now I don’t actually know if this episode is considered canon for the wider universe. I could totally see it going either way but for the sake of this post I’m gonna say that it’s canon. If someone has evidence to prove whether it’s canon or not please tell me. I’d really appreciate it.
So somewhere in the episode (I’m to lazy to check) the topic of Nico was brought up. Roman was excited, Logan was intrigued, everyone had pretty normal reactions. Except for Patton, it wasn’t even a “I don’t like this person” normal Patton reaction, it was just... weird. (I have now checked, the discussion of Nico starts at 9:51 and Patton is at 10:20) So Patton says “He seems.... nice” Which is a weird way for him to say it, especially because at this point he’s not being impersonated by Janus (I think? Honestly that would explain this but I’m pretty sure he isn’t at that specific moment) Also I’m pretty sure that Patton has had a pretty positive reaction to Nico so far so this doesn’t really make any sense. I don’t really have a theory or anything to explain this just the question of why? If someone has figured something out about this I’d love to hear it.
-Signing off, Althea
Edit: There was basically nothing about the new episode when I started writing this.
The Real Story of Little Red Riding Hood
The Story of Aria Xecha and Lily Blakesley
It had been a lovely Saturday morning so far, Aria was visiting her Grandma today, but this was no normal weekend visit, Aria was going to introduce her Grandma Carrie to her girlfriend, Lily Blakesley. Aria was nervous, but excited, she just knew that her Grandma would accept her for who she was. Lily was less certain. They had spent the morning messing around in the woods surrounding the village that Aria lived in but now it was time to visit Aria’s only remaining family, her Grandmother.
“It will be fine Lily,” Aria said, exasperated, she loved her girlfriend but Lily had backed out of meeting her Grandma for months, Aria wasn't going to let her back out of it again, Grandma Carrie was getting older and older and Aria needed her to know.
“I just have a bad feeling…” Lily mumbled, looking down at her feet, normally Aria would trust Lily’s instincts, after all Lily was a Likotsu and if she had a bad feeling about something she was generally right, but in this case Lily had used that excuse every weekend Aria had visited her Grandma for the last three months.
“I don’t care,” Aria argued, “You are meeting my Grandma and you are meeting her today, I have a basket of pastries prepared for her, she loves sweets so it should butter her up enough that she won’t mind that you’re a girl.”
“But what if she cares that I’m a Likotsu?” Lily asked, clearly worried, Likotsu’s didn't have the best reputation simply because wolves didn't have the best reputation, humans could never tell whether it was an actual wolf or just a Likotsu in wolf form, Likotsu were also rumored to have mind control powers, they don’t and never have, but people who learn that a human is friends, or even in love with a Likotsu think that the person simply must be under some sort of spell or mind control, when, in reality, they genuinely like the Likotsu.
“Grandma Carrie will be fine with it, you make me happy and that will be all that matters to her,” Aria reassured Lily, she would normally just say that they didn't have to tell her Grandma about Lily being a Likotsu but her Grandma would find out eventually and if Aria didn't tell her when she introduced Lily Grandma Carrie would be furious.
“If you say so,” Lily trailed off, Aria knew that Lily really didn’t want to do this but nothing bad was going to happen, it would be fine! “How about we get some flowers for her? We pass a clearing full of flowers on the way to your Grandma’s house.” Lily had walked Aria to her Grandma Carrie’s cottage many, many, times, although Lily never went closer than the beginning of the walkway up to the house.
“Sure!” Aria said, happy that Lily wasn't fighting her about visiting her Grandma anymore, “Let’s start walking!” The girls walked deeper into the forest, Aria’s Grandmother’s house was directly in the middle of the large forest. Nobody in Aria’s village had ever passed the woods surrounding the village, Lily said that one of her cousins had traveled out of the woods and when he came back told them stories of castles and pigs that talk but he had always been a jokester so Lily was pretty sure he was lying. Lily and Aria continued down the path, Aria in her red cloak that was the last remaining possession that she had from the house fire that killed her parents, everytime she grew taller her Grandmother would have to add even more fabric to the cloak. Around Lily’s neck was a locket that had a blue sapphire on it, the exact same color as Lily’s eyes, her eldest sister had brought it back from when she went to the place beyond the woods, it had a lock of her eldest sister’s hair in it to remind Lily of her because her eldest sister had decided to stay out of the woods and live in one of the villages out in the rest of the world. They jumped over a small brook that showed that they were almost there, finally they reached the clearing that was full of beautiful flowers, Lily and Aria picked the most beautiful ones they could find, then Aria pulled the blue ribbon that was holding her braid together out of her dark brown hair and tied it around the flowers in a beautiful bow. Aria put the bouquet of flowers into her basket and the girls started back down the path. They eventually reached the beginning of the stone walkway and Lily paused. Once Aria realized that Lily wasn't next to her Aria stopped too.
“Come on, it’s just my Grandma, it’ll be fine,” Aria tried to convince Lily.
“I know,” Lily mumbled, looking down at her feet, “Just give me a minute,”
“Alright,” Aria agreed, she was just happy that Lily was coming at all. A minute passed and Lily began walking again, Aria fell into place next to her. They walked up the walkway, once they reached the door Aria reached out her free hand that wasn't holding the basket and knocked on the wooden door. The girls waited a few seconds and the door was pulled open by a frail looking old woman, the woman was wearing a blood-colored dress that reached down below her knees and a red shawl with a pattern of small white flowers on it. This was Grandma Carrie.
“Aria my dear! It’s so kind of you to visit me!,” Grandma Carrie said sweetly, “And who is your young friend?”
“This is Lily,” Aria said fiddling with the handle of her basket.
“Well come in you two,” Grandma Carrie said, holding the door open and gesturing for them to enter. Lily and Aria walked into the cottage and sat down on the couch in the living room. Aria placed the basket full of pastries and flowers gently on the table then Grandma Carrie said, “Oh did you bring me gifts? Thank you girls!”
“You’re welcome Grandma,” Aria said as her Grandma opened the basket and pulled out a freshly baked chocolate croissant. Then Grandma Carrie sat down on the armchair across from the couch. They made small talk for a few minutes but Aria knew she had to tell her Grandma about her and Lily, so she worked up the courage and nervously said:
“Grandma, Lily and I are dating,”
“Oh I know.” Grandma Carrie said, her expression shifting into a cruel smile, “You’re dating a filthy Likotsu,”
“Grandma?” Aria asked confused and terrified, “You don’t really mean that?”
“Oh but I do,” Grandma Carrie replied, “I wouldn't mind if you were dating a nice HUMAN girl, but a Likotsu! You must be under her mind control!”
“Likotsu don’t have mind control, it’s just a myth Grandma,” Aria said, voice trembling, “Lily hasn't done anything!”
While the two had been arguing Lily had been fighting with herself, on one hand she had always been taught to flee if anyone found out she was a Likotsu and reacted badly but on the other she had to protect Aria. Finally she made a decision. Quickly shifting into her wolf form Lily jumped between Aria and Aria’s grandmother just as Aria’s Grandma pulled an axe off the wall. Lily was a rather big wolf so Aria was able to comfortably jump onto Lily’s back without hurting Lily. As soon as Aria was on her back Lily ran out of the house and into the forest. She ran towards the borders of the forest hoping that Aria would be ok starting a new life beyond the woods. Aria was. Carrie Xecha on the other hand couldn't let go of her granddaughter's supposed betrayal, how do you think the story of Little Red Riding came into existence after all? Now you know the true story of Aria Xecha and Lily Blakesley.
