Demons and daemons that look unearthly and strange and off-putting. Demons that didn't know to take humanoid forms when they first arrived on Elegy and terrified people. Demons that were the basis of biblical angel and demon myths alike. Demons that fell in love with humans but didn't know how not to break them, starve them, drown them. Demons that spawned every frightened whisper of the Fair Folk and the unseelie. Demons with eyes too sharp and limbs too quick and demons that sometimes forget to breathe and stand too still. Demons that stare too long and don't blink. Demons with thousand-year old faces that are hard to look at directly.

It's so fascinating how much of a façade she's putting up in meeting Darlin for the first time. It's almost crystal clear she's still so down bad for Sam. But because he wants nothing to do with her, she's suffering and lashing out like the spoiled selfish princess she's been for half a damn century.

The pause before she 'agrees' to stay away from Darlin cannot be accurately conveyed in text form. Tori did an AMAZING job charging that pause with unspoken true emotion and putting a wall back up.
