Tw : Murder , Femicide , Theriocide

I can’t believe that one year later I find myself in this position again. Why does this keep happening? Why are people so evil? Why do they kill like that? Why do they kill in general? AND FOR WHAT?
I write once more for the same reason I did last year: I need to get it out or I’ll burst. I can’t keep crying for stuff I can’t control. So I’m doing what I can control: write. Even if I can’t articulate my thoughts well enough, even if it’s all over the place, mushy and badly translated. One year later, I’m writing about another horrible case of femicide. I’m sorry Eleni, I’m sorry you weren’t the last one and I’m sorry that she had to be the next one…
A 20 year old girl, Caroline Crouch, was murdered a month ago in front of her baby, with her 32 year old husband claiming it was a robbery and that he was tied up and blindfolded so he couldn’t see the robbers… In Greece, in Athens, in the municipality of Glyka Nera.
Today, 40 days after Caroline’s death, her husband was arrested for her murder. He confessed. Caroline wanted to take her baby and leave. They fought over text messages from different floors in their house but he went up and strangled her with a pillow, then strangling and hanging their own dog in the yard, in an attempt to make this look like the “robbers” did it but didn’t want to be betrayed by the dog’s barking, then tied himself with duct tape, something he confessed just hours before I started writing this.
Caroline’s biometric watch recorded her quickened pulses before she died. The murderer’s phone showed “suspicious activity” at a time when he should be immobilized and semi-conscious from the “gag”. The security cameras had their memory cards removed and the time didn’t match his original testimony to the police.
All of the above were used as clues to accuse him of murdering Caroline. He claimed there was a break in. There was no break in, the window was opened from the inside. He claimed there was a car that left when “the robbers” left. Turns out, there was no car. A friend of his from work had his own house broken into some years ago and he claimed the supposed break in to be a copycat robbery. A little too convenient. Almost as convenient as saying you couldn’t see because of the blindfold but could call the police on your smartphone by writing the number with your nose. You know the smartphone I’m talking about, the one with the flat screen where you can’t really tell what you’re doing unless you are able to see what you are actually doing.
For more than a month people have been speculating. It was natural to think of the husband as the primal suspect but it was too cruel to say outright without the police even suggesting his involvement. You think about it, you see it makes sense but you still want to believe that this can’t happen, even if you don’t like the age gap, the gaps in the case, the fact that so many things seem wrong. Because how monstrous would it be to kill the person you claimed to love the most and in front of your own child as well?
We weren’t shocked because we didn’t believe he could be the killer. We were sad because we still clung to that one slimmer of hope that he would be innocent and Caroline wouldn’t have died like this.
Caroline wanted to leave him and take the baby with her so he killed her. He claimed he fabricated this whole story because he didn’t want to leave his child fatherless too. But he had no problem leaving it motherless in the first place.
He was in a relationship with Caroline since she was around 14… A child he could easily manipulate, gaslight, groom and mold to his own desire. When she showed that bit of agency, he felt he had no other choice but to murder her in cold blood.
Caroline regularly saw a psychologist, a “friend” (?) of her husband’s. He always escorted her and never left her alone with the one person she was supposed to be alone. When Caroline died, her psychologist went to every morning “talk show” to spill every single thing Caroline had confessed to her… So much for professionalism… Oh wait, here’s the best thing: she never was a psychologist to begin with. Her diploma has nothing to do with psychology, she attended some sort of therapist seminar and she called herself just that, then felt entitled to not only lure a young girl (with the aid of the husband as we conclude) but to disrespect her memory and privacy by telling every single person that watched tv what she had told her and by openly supporting the killer, saying how “in love” the couple was. Obviously. She now faces the court for committing such a fraud but it’s a small comfort. It’s not like Caroline will come back.
A pedo, a fraud and a young girl, away from her parents and people that can help, trapped and wanting an out and having to pay for it with her life.Â
Poetic, but it’s not like she actually got an out. She’s not free, she’s dead and buried. And it’s not like she will ever find justice, no matter how many years that bastard gets.

Know her name: Caroline Crouch
I know I keep talking to myself and shouting into the void that is tumblr, but really, how is it that a person with a bright future can suddenly be snatched away like that?
I’m sorry we couldn’t make it safer for you. I’m sorry you had to endure this and I’m sorry that your child won’t ever truly know what an amazing person you were. Farewell…
