This is the shapeshifter that haunts the Kalihari desert. As old as the hills, she is constantly shifting to air, sand, people and animals. She's the one that planted Midnight in Tshenga's father's possession, and who prophesied how Tsenga would unite the people. Unfortunately she is exceptionally hard to talk to because one minute she'll be a person - then the next she'll be a bush or a canoe.
My reference for this is a photo that was taken after a humongous hail storm in South Africa when I was small. It was bright and misty and dark and there were leaves all over the floor. These things were the size of golf balls and stripped the trees and destroyed crops and all that crazy stuff.
