All due respect, but I think you’re a little harsh on Cassandra in these salt posts. Don’t get me wrong some of the stuff she does is absolutely not okay. But it seems like you don’t really understand most points of her arc. The whole point of her villainy is that she herself doesn’t know what she wants. None of the resolutions in season 1 are actual resolutions because it doesn’t actually fix anything. Cass doesn’t really get what she wants. As for Zhan Tiri and Gothel, I’m not sure you really understand how abusive relationships work either. In a lot of cases, an abuser’s victim doesn’t really see them as the bad guy. Cass wasn’t ready to remember Gothel. Now along with that trauma being uncovered, she has to deal with the fact that her mother has been dead for years now. That messes a person up.

The very fact that Cassandra doesn't know what she wants is the problem though. Not giving your character a goal to work towards is bad writing because it denys that character agency.

Also as an abuse survivor myself, it's really fucking insulting to claim that Cassandra's past abuse excuses her actions because said abuse has fuck all to do with the present conflict. It's just slapped on there as a distraction from the fact that Cassandra has no real reason to do anything.

Abuse survivors aren't stupid. We aren't mindless waifs with no thoughts, goals, or agency of our own. Or that we can't ever be held accountable for what we do and must forever and always be the victim. And a personal fuck you for implying otherwise!
