It was a pretty boring day when you met him, to be honest. A regular patrol. You were on your own since your agency was still pretty small and you only had two sidekicks, who you didn’t want to be alone on the streets. You were a bit protective of them. You were a relatively young hero, but you knew that you could hold your own. You trusted them, but they were still just sidekicks. They were your responsibility, and you took that pretty seriously.

Mirio’s gaze turned to you, sky blue eyes stared at how you sipped on your drink. Your glossy, pink stained lips puckered around the straw. Was that a new shade? You had never put something like that on before. Probably tasted like strawberries or cherries, “Mirio!” your voice drove him out his thoughts. You stood in front of him, your hands at your hip, “What are you thinking about?” Mirio felt his cheek heat up.

‘I was thinking about you sucking my dick, do you mind?’

“Nothing, we should get going. Lunch’s bout’ to get over soon.” He grabs your wrist and pulls you towards the school building, you almost trip over your feet, “Hey! Slow down!” You bump into his chest, which was hard as a rock. “You’re a klutz,” he laughs. “It’s your fault!” he pats your head and continues laughing, he finds him self thinking how much smaller you are compared to him. His entire hand can literally cover your face, he can easily pick you and throw you over his shoulder.

What is stopping him? Seriously?

His smile drops when he catches you staring at him. The guy he beat up months ago and threatened him to stay out of your life. You were staring at him chatting away, giggling with some nameless girl. He studied your sully expression, how your eyes looked sad, and lip turned into a sad pout; he could tell you were upset and that pissed him off. Why did you still think about him? Why did you still care about that jerk? Didn’t you move on yet?

Mirio felt himself get riled up from the same rage he had felt the first time he had seen you with this man. The frustration, anger, and jealousy all came surging back to him as he realized that you obviously did not feel the same way about him as he did about you. Maybe he’ll have to do more than just be nice to get you to understand he’s the one for you, the one and only.

“Hey, what’s wrong? You coming?” His hand rested on your shoulder as gripped on it a little tighter. He would show you who you belong to. You will get what is coming.

Mirio walked into an empty classroom which echoed soft sobs and sniffles. You sat on your seat, your head resting on the desk as you cried. Mirio’s face dropped and he rushed to you wrapping his arms around you, pulling your upper half to his chest. He rubbed your head, “It’s okay now. I am here,” he whispered into your ear shushing you. “What happened?” he asked after you had calmed down. “Why are you still here?” “I came to get you, now, what happened?” you gulped before answering, you feel the lump in your throat rise as your voice cracked. “Why?”

Mirio was confused, what were you about? “Am I not good enough? Why did he leave me?” tears fell to your cheeks again as you breath hitched.

Of course, you were thinking about him. Mirio felt something in him snap. He pulled away from the hug and stood in front of you, grabbing your jaw squishing your cheeks. Your eyes widened in horror as he pulled your face closer to him, his elbows rested on the desk separating the two of you. He looked down on you, his eyes bored into yours with malice and anger, “Mirio you’re-” “Shut the fuck up.” he snapped. “Do you know why he left? Why did your precious little pretty boy leave you?” you were too scared to answer, you didn’t get to anyways, “Because. I fucking told him to stay away from you. Got it?” Your eyebrows knit together and tears pricked at the corner of your eyes, “I fucking beat him up. You know why I did that?” he asked again.

His voice was menacing, he was shouting at you and you were scared.

“Answer me! You fucking ungrateful bitch!” You started whimpering, Mirio had never talked to you this way before. A weak no left your trembling lips, “It’s because you’re mine.” he spat, he waited for you to say something but you were still trying to process his words. It was a lot to take in, you couldn’t believe that Mirio would ever do something like that. You wanted to think this was a joke but no, he was dead serious.

The ray of sunshine, the great hero to be, Mirio Togata was a scumbag, no, he was worse.

You started releasing the situation you were in, there was no doubt, he wouldn’t hesitate to hurt you too. The flight or fight instinct kicked in and you tried to free your face from his grasp, successfully freeing yourself from his chains you got up from the desk and made a run for the door. Mirio stared at you in disbelief, his eyes wide and lips curled upwards he internally laughed at your foolishness. Wasting no time, he quickly got behind you capturing your wrist and pulling you back to his chest. A large hand wrapped around your waist, keeping you securely pinned to his torso.

You are so stupid. Did you seriously think you could get away from him? He is twice your size.

“What are you doing out here?” You squinted in the bright midday light, the sun reflecting off the snow.

Yona smiled up at you as you joined her and Jacob on the hill. From there you could see the cave, see everything. Rolling hills of white. Had they both been here for the last couple of days?

“Is this where you two have been?” You’d stayed with Rachel and Harvey the last few days, looking after Eva. You’d noticed that Yona and Jacob hadn’t been around much the last couple of days.

None of you had been entirely sure the girl would survive the poisoning. Harvey never left his daughter’s side and neither did Timmy. You and Rachel took turns staying with them, getting them whatever they needed and sleeping in turns.

“How is Eva?” Jacob asked, hazel eyes peering up at you from under the hood of his parka.

Sitting next to Yona, you smiled. “Better. Rachel made an egg for her and she’s actually hungry.”

“Thank God,” Jacob muttered. “Curtis is in enough of a snit.”

Caring for Eva had given you an excuse to put some distance between yourself and Curtis. And you needed it. Your mind played a constant loop of what Curtis had told you, what you Rachel and Jacob had told you. What Nick told you. And Leo…

Your heart hurt because it was difficult to reconcile the man you knew now and who Curtis must have been those early days on the train. Rachel and Jacob had told you how bleak the situation had been those first days. David and Rachel’s daughter had died when her medication was taken. None of them had been given food or water. Fear and panic reigned in the tail-section, the strongest taking what they needed to survive. Taking from each other. Killing and consuming each other.

Even the babies.

You hand drifted to your swelling tummy, the thought that anyone could be pushed to such an act chilling you. The fear Edgar’s mother must have felt…
