âIâm sorry. You did what?â Sirius beseeched, walking into the living room from the kitchen and interrupting the points (arguments) you and Remus were each in the process of making. You gave him an unimpressed look, knowing he wasnât actually asking you to repeat yourself, he just couldnât believe what he had heard.
âShe gave Mary-Ella over a grand.â Remus muttered bitterly.
âI did not give Mary-Ella money, I loaned her money.â You were quick to correct.
Sirius just scoffed. âSure you did, dollface.â He sneered, making his usual pet-name burn to the touch. âYou are never going to see that money again.â
âWhat were you thinking?â Remus implored.
âI was thinking that my friend was in a bind and needed help. I hardly think thatâs a crime.âÂ
âYou didnât just loan a little bit of money, though. You loaned a lot of money to a friend who is not reliable in the slightest.â Remus asserted.
âWe have been working so hard trying to save up to move. To move closer to Diagon Alley so that Remus can be closer to work, and we can finally get out of my uncles flat.â Sirius added.
âI know weâve been working hard, Sirius. I know this because I too have been working hard. But Iâm not going to watch my friend struggle when thereâs something I could do to help!â
âThis choice impacted all of us. You had no right to make this decision on your own.â
It was your turn to scoff as you turned to glare at Remus incredulously. You had been trying to stay patient, knowing that this close to the moon, Remus was feeling extra sensitive. But him ganging-up on you with Sirius quickly found what little patience you had running thin. âI 'had no right' to make a decision about money that I made on my own?â
âYou have no ground to stand on, buttercup. Youâre now out more than a grand because of this choice; weâre all out more than a grand because of your choice.â Sirius growled, tone full of derision.
âIf the roles were reversed, Mary-Ella would help me out!â You tried to reason, only for Remus to bark a laugh.
âThat doesnât even matter, dove. Because youâd never be in her position and likewise, sheâd never be in yours. Sheâs irresponsible, unreliable, and a mooch.â
You tried to ignore the burning sensation in your sinuses as you spoke to the back of Remusâ head; he apparently had grown so disgusted with you that he couldnât even look at you anymore.Â
âI donât like you talking about my friends like that. I donât understand why weâre making such a big deal about this, I jus-â but you were cut off as Remus stood abruptly and turned on you.Â
âWeâre making this a big deal because it is a big deal!â he bellowed. âYou leave this apartment in the morning and itâs like Sirius and I donât exist anymore. You conduct yourself like some single woman with no responsibility to anyone else but herself.â
âYouâre being selfish. You canât possibly expect to drop a bomb on us like this and, what, expect us to just reply with âyes dearâ? You fucked up, Y/N.â Sirius added, arms crossed defensively over his chest and cold silver eyes glared daggers that permeated your entire being. Remus carried on, unperturbed by the effects this conversation was having on you.
You felt like you were seventeen again, like you were eleven, nine, six. You felt like a babe whose hand had been slapped for reasons beyond your comprehension.
Do you ever stop and think about the consequences, Y/N?
You were sitting at the dining room table as your father lashed you with his words, each sentence punctuated with the slamming of his fists on the table. You were standing on the platform having just reunited with your parents after the school year as your motherâs claws dug into your arms, warning you that punishment was to come later if you didnât smarten up. You were cowering in the backyard as your father screamed at you in front of the entire neighbourhood â a free show for all to enjoy.Â
You think crying will earn you any sympathy here? Youâre a manipulative little witch if you think that will work on me. Keep crying and Iâll give you something to cry about.Â
You felt naked â like your figurative clothes had been violently ripped from your body â and there you stood, stripped bare for all to leer at. Standing before two people...who were meant to love you unconditionally...as they laced their words with venom and spat vitriol at you.
You couldnât even hear the point Remus was trying to make anymore. It didnât matter anyway.
He hated you. You were hated. You were a disappointment, a burden, unwanted.
But you couldnât cry â could never cry. Youâd just be manipulating them. You were deceitful. Emotions were deceitful. The way you felt was wrong. And they were right.
Always right.Â
So, you did what you always did; you made it quiet.Â
You began layering rows of stones around your being. Protection. Space. Distance. Safety.
They couldnât hurt you from all the way in here, not from the other side of your wall. Youâd be safe here. Here in the quiet.
It was safe in the quiet.Â

Sirius felt disgraceful at how long it took him to notice the signs of you pulling away from the conversation. Away from them. Away from him.
Remus â always more sensitive than the two of you when it came to the likes of money, combined with feeling extra flustered with the upcoming full moon â had no reason to expect nor recognize signs of occlusion.Â
Suddenly, Sirius was fourteen again. Walburga was standing over him with her wand aimed at his chest, but all he could see was Regulus. He had prayed at the time that his brother could hear him begging in his mind:
Turn it off, Reg. Just turn it off. It canât hurt you if you turn it off.Â
Sirius himself sat in an almost constant state of occlusion during his fifth year, knowing somewhere deep in his gut that the beginning of the end of his life as the heir of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black (or the end of his life in general) was near.Â
Growing up wasnât a whole lot easier for you, it seemed. And he knew that when things got to be too much, you did what you needed to do to protect yourself.
He suddenly hated himself. You werenât supposed to need to protect yourself from him and Remus. It was their job to protect you; just like you always protected them.Â
How you protected Remus from wasting away on the days leading up to and recovering from the full moon. You never let him go hungry or thirsty, you always made sure the space was clean and tidy, and you never let him fall into his typical pre- and post-moon self-loathing.
And you protected Sirius from himself; from saying things that he wouldnât be able to take back, from being the worst version of himself, from losing you and Remus completely.Â
He didnât deserve you.
You didnât deserve this.
For fuckâs sake all you had been doing was being kind.
Being a good friend, someone that others could rely on, protecting people who meant so much to you.Â
All you were doing was being your kind, courteous, protective, generous self that Remus and Sirius had fallen in love with from the very start.
âMoony!â Sirius pleaded, causing the lycanthrope to pause in his tangent. You didnât even flinch at the sudden change in the atmosphere as Remus looked at Sirius bewilderedly.Â
âWeâve lost her.â Sirius murmured quietly, causing Remus to spin to observe you.Â
âWell...â Remus began, still struggling to shake off his anger and the need to argue. âBut I-â
âItâs enough, Remus.â Sirius hissed quietly, staring at Remus with a look he hoped conveyed no nonsense.
He apparently succeeded as Remus let out whatever breath heâd been holding as he turned again to face you.
âDove, Iâm sorry.â Remus whispered as he tried to move towards you, but you instinctively took a step back to maintain the distance between you; your arms wrapped around your middle protectively as if that was all that was holding you together.Â
Siriusâ heart felt like it split in two â and based off of the look on Remusâ face, he wasnât fairing any better.
âY/N?â Sirius tried. You didnât turn to look at him, but you hummed in quasi-acknowledgement.
âCan you look at me?â He tried quietly, but you shook your head no.Â
Remus made a pained sound as he tried to move towards you again, ducking his head down in an attempt to make eye contact with you. You didnât back away from him this time, but your arms tightened in their hold around your middle.
âSweetheart, Iâm sorry I...I shouldnât have spoken to you like that. Iâm...I was out of line.â
âCome back?â Sirius pleaded. âPlease.â
You took a deep breath and turned your face towards your boyfriends, but Sirius could tell your eyes were still foggy â you were still hiding.
âWe wonât talk about it anymore. That conversation is done.â Sirius said.
âBut-â you started, voice grating from the tightness in your throat, but he cut you off.
âThe conversation is done. You did what you thought was right, you were being your kind lovely self, helping your friend when they needed you. We shouldnât have yelled at you, sweets. Iâm sorry.â
Remus made another pained sound and moved closer to you again.
âDovey, Iâm so sorry. Please, can I- would you like a hug?â
Sirius watched as you looked at Remus, seeming to weigh your options before you nodded once at him. Remus neednât any more invitation and quickly (though gently) made for you, enveloping you in his arms.Â
The three of you stayed like that â Remus with his arms around you, you with your arms around yourself and your face pushed into his chest, and Sirius standing helplessly at the side â before Sirius started to notice some tension leaving your shoulders.
âWhyâd you go?â He asked you quietly, gently placing a hand in the middle of your shoulder blades and rubbing in a way he hoped was soothing.
âI didnât want to cry.â You admitted into Remusâ chest, neither boy missing how tight your voice seemed to be, even as your voice barely raised above a whisper.Â
âOh, dolly. Just cry. Cry, okay? Make us feel like tossers, but donât leave.â Sirius said.
âI didnât want you to feel bad.â You muttered wetly, finally turning so Sirius could see your red and wet face.Â
âBut we deserved it. Oh, my love.â Remus cooed as he all but picked you up and locked your legs around his hips, forcing you to move your grip from around yourself to around him.
âIâm not sâposed to make you cry. Iâm sâposed to make you smile.â He muttered pitifully, pressing his lips into your hair.
âAnd cum.â Sirius spoke in the same pitiful tone, brushing a strand of hair from your forehead.
You laughed wetly and the last of your occlusion appeared to slip away which was what Sirius had been aiming for. It didnât make him feel all that much better though.
âOh, my girl. Iâm so sorry, Pads is right. You were just being your lovely self, and Iâm a bastard.â
Sirius watched as your brows furrowed. âYouâre not a bastard.â
âNo,â Sirius agreed readily, âhe was just being a bastard. Both of us were. Do you think you can forgive us?â
You nodded quickly but Remus tsked in response.
âDonât let us off so easily, dovey. Make us pay for it. What do you need? Do you need a foot rub? You want cake? Ice cream? What about a kitten? Youâve always wanted a kitten.â
You had been shaking your head at everything Remus said until the last one, your curiosity obviously piqued.
Fuckinâ hells, Sirius thought, if she gets a kitten everytime one of us acts like an arse, weâre going to be overrun with cats by next month.Â

Five sighs, leaning on the table as you take a seat next to him.
âReally embracing the old man, huh?â You said, referring to his unusual outfit. Instead of the academy uniform, heâd opted for a vest, flannel, and fedora combination. You honestly wondered where he found it.
Five hums. âYes, I am. Itâs called retirement.â
You just laugh at him, unwrapping one of your Werther's caramel coffee candies. Five wrinkles his nose in disgust as you hand one towards him. âWant one?â
âIâd rather save the world again. Naked,â He sassily replied.
âI wouldnât say that if I were you,â You tease, popping the candy into your mouth and sighing at this sweet-bitter flavor.
âWhy donât you just drink regular coffee?â He asked. âLike a sane person?â
âBecause coffee is nasty,â You said, sticking your tongue out at him and displaying the small candy. âThese are better.â
âTheyâre not even close to the same thing,â He grumbled.
You raise a brow at him. âAnd how would you know? Youâve never had one.â
âYeah, whatever,â he dismisses, getting up and inspecting the hotel buffet. You follow after him, popping another candy in your mouth.
âSo, what are you thinking of doing since youâre retired?â
Five grabs a cup and fills it with coffee. âI donât know. Traveling? Isnât that what people do nowadays?â
You scoff, âYeah, people who donât look barely eighteen.â
He swats at you, returning to your seats. âIâll drive.â
He pours some syrup over his pancakes, and you pout. âIf you like that much syrup, youâd love the candies just as much.â
âCoffee is supposed to taste bitter, not filled with artificial flavoring.â
âYou donât know till you try.â
âI do know, and Iâm telling you now, that is shit,â He points at your mouth with his knife.
You frown, suckling on the candy and its sweet flavor. You were lucky to have found them back in 1963, and now you just kept a handful in your pocket at all times.
âYou didnât like me at first, and nowâŠâ
âThatâs completely different,â He defends.
You laugh. âReally? Cause youâre a bitter old man, and Iâm the sweetest person ever.â
âYou are far from the sweetest person ever.â
âThatâs not the point, Five,â You huff.
He smiles at you. âIsnât it, darling?â
âJust try one,â You urged, tossing the wrapped candy at his face. âPlease.â
"Try a cup of coffee, and Iâll consider it.â
âI have tried a cup of coffee.â
âWhen?â
You roll your eyes. âPrior to when we met.â
âThen, I tried your coffee-flavored candy⊠prior to when we met.â
You glare at Five, and he just smirks, taking a bite of his pancakes.
âPlease,â You beg.
âNo.â
âButââ
âNo.â
âTheyâreââ
âNo.â
âFive.â
âNo.â
You click your tongue, still rolling the candy in your mouth when a thought occurs to you. Five notices the mischievous look on your face, and his eyebrows furrow together.
â(Y/N)ââ
Heâs cut off when you grab the back of his neck and smash your lips together. His hands fly to cup your cheeks as the taste of the candy invades his mouth. And holy shit, he loves it. His lips press harder against yours, almost making you fall off the seat as he chases the flavor.
And then, before you know it, he slips his tongue in and relishes the sweet flavor. His tongue explores every inch of your mouth, trying to seek the sugary treat he so desires. You let out a quiet whine, brain fuzzy at the action. Five groans as you tug on his hair, tongue invading your mouth, and then he pulls back.
Youâre stunned, blinking as your lips smack together. And then you notice something missing and gasp.
Five grins, sticking his tongue to display your coffee-flavored caramel proudly on his tongue.
âYou littleââ

"Do you regret it?" | Five Hargreaves
Summary: Y/n and Five, drunk at the end of the world .
Pairing: Five Hargreaves X Fem!Reader
A/n: Is this small? Yes, but I decided to post it to ease our broken hearts for five now

"Do you regret it?" Y/n says with her head resting on Five's shoulder.
He was drunk, but not as drunk as she was.
"Of what?" He says trying to sober up so he can understand her.
"Of meeting me." Y/n says and Five laughs at the thought, they grew up together, and after everything they've been through, she asks that kind of question.
"Do you want to know what I regret?" Five says, taking her hand.
"I regret not making you happier, not marrying you, and our retirement not working out." He says and laughs at the end. Y/n lifts her head from Five's shoulder and looks at her upset.
"But you make me happy!" She says with him words a little jumbled and Five smiles softly.
"No, I don't make , I just drag you into every mess I get myself into I'm terrible, grumpy, and I don't understand anything about feelings, I'm sorry." Five says taking Y/n's hand and intertwining his fingers with hers.
"Five?"
"Yes dear?"
"I wish I had married you." She speaks softly and Five smiles closing his eyes.
"I would also love to see you in a white dress." He says imagining her in a beautiful white dress.
"But maybe in another universe... we got married, right?"
"Or maybe you found someone better for you." He says it jokingly, but it hurts to think about love with someone else.
"As if anyone else would put up with me like this."
"You say that as if you weren't the most incredible woman in the world." He gives her a little kiss on the head and keeps his mouth there with his eyes closed.
"Maybe in another universe you would end up with Lila." She says this, and Five frowns.
"I'd rather be killed."
"But if I wasn't in this universe?"
"Well, then my life would be nothing but sadness." Five can't even think about the possibility of living a life without his Y/n by his side, and if there is such a universe, where his Y/n isn't there, he wants to stay far away from it.
They were silent for a while, and Five couldn't help but imagine their wedding, it would be just the way she wanted it.
"Would you prefer to get married in the church or outdoors?" Y/n asks and Five smiles
"She was imagining that too."
"Which do you prefer?" He asks, squeezing her hand tighter.
"I'm not sure."
"Well, I would like it to be just the way you dreamed."
"What's your dream wedding Five?" Y/n says with and Five's smile widens.
"One where you're the bride and I'm the groom."
rockstar!sirius where he's on tour and reader calls from home and just mentions she's been a bit sick and he drops everything to come home and take care of her and she's just beyond surprised <3333333
You should've guessed from how sweet he was over the phone that Sirius was up to something. He is sweet, and when you're sick he's a ball of secret worries, but usually there's at least some sort of plaguing, badly timed jokes. He likes to poke fun and you like to let him, but he doesn't. There's no comment on your snotty-nosed voice all stuffed up and full of sniffles, or your hacking cough that he's remarked before as sounding like a dragon mid heart attack.
He hangs up murmuring sorries and love yous, promising to make it up to you when he gets home in two weeks time. The last thing you expect to wake up to the next day is a key in the lock, or footsteps up the stairs. Frankly, it freaks you out, worried a murderers approaching and you'll be too bedbound to fight them off.
But there Sirius appears in the door, a brilliant, beaming smile on his face. "My girl," he coos, like you're the prettiest thing he's ever seen.
You're maybe not. Hands to your neck, heart a riot in your mouth and your hands, used up tissues dotting the bed like snow drifts that tumble off of the bed when you flinch, you look perturbed. And poorly.
"Sirius," you say weakly, tears fast at the back of your eyes, your body reacting to his appearance even when your mind hasn't clocked him yet, "what-"
"Didn't think I was gonna leave you here all by yourself did you? Like this?" he asks, sitting by your hip, hands quick to cover your own. He pulls them to his thigh.
"You scared me, I thought you were a burglar."
He moves in slowly. "I'm sorry," he says, face inching toward your neck, lips to the soft flesh under your jaw. "Sorry." It vibrates through your skin. He kisses you gently.
"Don't, baby, don't stay too close. I'll make you sick," you croak.
"I'm taking your temperature," he jokes.
He pulls back. His hair is scraped back into a short pony tail, too many earrings to count swinging in his ears and bouncing the light of your bedside lamp. His dark lashes flutter as he takes in your appearance, and his lips fall into a concerned frown. "Poor girl," he says, back of his hand stroking your cheek for a blessed, swift split-second. He collects himself, puts on a front for your sake. "Soup?"
You let yourself relax into the headboard behind you. "Soup would be nice. But... can you stay here for a bit? I missed you."
He compromises, wrapping you up and half dragging you down to the kitchen. For a while, you worry your sick brain has conjured him up, desperate to be taken care, desperate to be with him while he's away. Then the soup spits at him and he swears, and solidifies himself in your head completely. There's your superstar, defeated by bubble and squeak.
Can you pretty pleaaassse write for regulus black x reader angst
Where they were friends and got along really well and because they're both pureblooded there families arranged marriage for them. But then regulus gets paranoid and starts to think badly of you and thinks that you were only ever nice to him so that your parents would arrange marriage. And he thinks that you hold the same awful pureblood beliefs as both of your parents and he is afraid to say anything about it incase you tell his family that he doesn't really believe that muggles are lesser. Then regulus is quite distant and mean in your marriage and he eventually comes to his senses when he realises how upset you are and how much his distance hurts you and he can hear you crying yourself to sleep
pairing: regulus black x fem!reader
warning: angst, regulus is a bit of a dick but he comes around ! miscommunication (iâm sorryâ)
summary: request above
authors note: hi! sorry this took forever, iâm really bad at keeping up with requests but i hope you enjoy this, i always say im hoping to get back into writing but itâs always touch and go, my mental health isnât great a lot of the time and uni just piles on so much more, hopefully you guys understand ! đ«¶đ©·
regulus wasnât used to people sticking around, he had been abandoned by the only person he ever truly cared about and left to fend for himself. which was why he assumed when news of his engagement to you was announced by his parents, at a shared dinner party for the sacred 28, you two would simplyâŠco-exist. never fully acknowledging the others presence yet acquaintances at best.
what a shock to his system it was when he grew to know what a wonderful person you were, never abrasive or hostile like his parents, never boastful like most of the pureblood families he knew, instead you were the embodiment of everything he never knew he wanted, a calm to the raging angst inside of him he couldnât quell after sirius had left, and that alone left him scared more than any of his parents threats to present him to the dark lord as a servant.
you two had formed a quick friendship due to the circumstances surrounding your fast paced engagement, you were set to marry next august and your engagement had only been announced in april. regulus had no problem performing his duties to his family, however this one came with little to no reluctance from either of you as feelings of love and respect blossomed from the friendship you two shared.
however, as time passed, regulus could slowly but surely feel his walls he had fought so hard to build up, crack. he couldnât fathom why someone like you would feel so comfortable around him, how you somehow managed to worm your way under his skin like no one ever could, not even sirius.
except as time flew by, he had somehow found some of that âgryffindor courageâ as james potter always declared, to tell you about his feelings, emphasizing that if you wished, he would never bring up again if you did not reciprocate and you two would still move forward together into marriage as friends.
to his surprise, you were much more welcoming to his feelings than expected, you two had shared a small kiss as you leant your forehead against his and claimed âi was just waiting for you to see me.â
since you two were already a couple in the eyes of the public, the only people he had really had to tell was your shared friends. as expected, they all reacted joyfully to the news and you both carried through the rest of your year no longer pretending to be in love, but actually falling into it.
however, at the beginning of your 6th year, you could tell something had shifted between yours and regulusâ dynamic. no longer was he patient and comforting, instead he was judgmental and fast to anger. some part of you knew it had to do with his parents but you didnât have the heart to push your questions onto him.
as time passed you watched as he distanced himself from you, pushing away your touches, rejecting your offers to hang out, blowing you off when he would eventually agree. you could only handle so much of his behavior before you eventually broke when telling your friends.
âi donât know what to do anymore, itâs like walking on eggshells whenever heâs around because im scared of him snapping at me for breathing too loudâ you vent to your friends as you place your hands on your eyes to try keep the tears at bay.
âhow longs this been going on y/n?â pandora asks softly as she shares a concerned look with lily. you blubber out as answer that sounds like âa couple of monthsâ as tears leak past your palms.
âi canât keep doing thisâ you emphasize to them both, âand you know i canât break up with him because we still have to get married-â
âbreak up?!â lily questions surprised, âyou canât be serious y/n.â she says as she places a hand on your shoulder.
âi think you need to talk to himâ pandora says again as she smiles softly at you as you look at her with tear filled eyes.
ââŠwhat if he doesnât want me anymore?â you whisper, too afraid to say it out loud in fear of it coming true.
âoh loveâ lily coos as she drags you into a small cuddle with her and pandora, âyouâre gonna need to ask him to know that y/nâ she whispers as she rubs your back.
you sigh heavily and nod before looking at the both of them. âokayâ you concede as you try and form some sort of a plan to confront regulus, your anxiety spikes at the thought of him not wanting your relationship anymore, you couldnât imagine a marriage with the man you loved where his feelings werenât reciprocated.
the next day, you planned to corner regulus at the library before dinner but as you walked up to his table, you heard the voice of not only regulus, but barty as well.
âreg, you know youâre hurting her by ignoring herâ barty says with a sigh as you pause behind a bookshelf near the table to eavesdrop.
âyou know better than i, that i can never be with someone who thinks the way she doesâŠits disgustingâ regulus says with a sneer but you can hear how disappointed he is by the statement.
disgusting? he thinks iâmâŠdisgusting? what is he even talking about? you donât think youâve ever done anything remotely bad enough to be called disgusting.
âhow do you know she thinks like them?â barty implores and you hear regulus sigh, âyouâve seen how she acts when the sacred 28 talks about the mugglesâ he says and you frown, part of being a child of one of the sacred 28 meant you had to act your part, regulus knew that better than anyone else. so why was he suddenly judging you and telling barty about your issues when he couldnât even give you the time of day?
âi donât know if i can marry someone like herâ regulus says again and your heart drops. someone like her, you repeat in your head, every insecurity you ever worked through, comes back in tenfold from that sentence alone. you stumble on your feet from the flashes of tears and heartache from all your deepest points of sorrow.
you shake your head and straighten your back before reminding yourself, if he wants a true pureblood wife, thatâs what iâll be. quiet, docile,âŠperfect.
your wedding approaches faster than you can imagine, dress fittings, bridal party dresses and events all pass with a blur. never fully there, you encompass a state of numbness.
regulus and all your friends notice how you slowly fall into the facade you usually have in front of your parents, instead this time, it never breaks in front of them.
regulus waits for you to come to him, to seek his comfort like you have so many times before, but it never comes.
he spends his nights worrying about you, questioning if itâs something heâs done, youâre still sweet and loving to him, justâŠmore hollow than you were before.
you embody the perfect pureblood princess and he couldnât hate it more, he hears from people around you how youâre not sleeping, always coming to class in a perfect face of makeup everyday when you usually only used skincare, in beautiful dresses for hogsmead days when you used to use comfortable clothes.
he tries to talk to you, to question why youâve somehow flipped the switch out of nowhere, but they go unanswered.
the day of your wedding, he can see past the makeup, your sunken in eyes and red eyes. he still places a soft smile on his face as you stare passively into the distance, never making eye contact with him while saying your vows.
the distance between the both of you grows larger as he starts to believe that this was the life you truly wanted, a prince and princess, a couple born out of need not out of love, arranged perfectly to fit the narrative of pureblood royalty.
however, one night he falls asleep later than usual and hears you cry into your pillow, small pleas of being good enough for him as your body shakes with small sobs. he resists the urge to reach out to you in fear of you not recieving his touch well.
he lies awake as he hears you say, âiâm not like i was before, please let him love me now, oh merlin pleaseâ you whisper with clenched hands and eyes that leak tears. his heart breaks at the thought of you existing to please him.
he had seen how his mother had done the same for his father, how she turned cold and abusive with no comfort and love from her partner, how she pushed her self hatred onto her children. how that pushed her eldest son to run away.
he spends the next week racking his brain for what he couldâve done for you to think that way before he realises that the summer after his 5th year, his parents had implored him never to give you anything more than the bare minimum because nobody could be trusted. he remembers pulling away from you and pushing you away in fear of you using him for his fortune.
the idea that his parents had made him internalize that you would never love him just for him, you were moving into this marriage not because of your shared love but because of necessity. his heart drops out of his chest as he realizes all of this must have translated to you and that he now had a lot to make up for.
he plans out meticulously how to get his wife back and slowly but surely, he does. it starts with small things, a single flower that you had told him once you liked the smell of on your nightstand, a pair of earrings you remarked look beautiful when window shopping. a handwritten letter telling you goodmorning and his favorite things about you in your bag before class.
your initial confusion morphs to anger at the thought of changing yourself all for him to want you to go back to the self he called repulsive. you donât respond to his initial attempts to woo you, but as weeks and months pass, he doesnât give up.
he speaks to you, really speaks to you, asking you about your day, how he can help you when youâre not feeling well, what you need whenever he leaves the house, small compliments about your cooking or how the colour of your dress matches your eyes.
you two start sharing small good mornings and good nights when going to bed, which then translates to small hand holding or shared touches between each other. the ice around your heart slowly but surely starts melting whenever heâs around, you quickly become accustomed to his quick kisses on the cheek whenever he leaves the room or house.
he holds you at night as he whispers sweet promises of never letting you down again, grasping your face to look into your eyes whenever he compliments you to let you know how much you mean to him.
your heart is now warm and full at the thought of his presence, no longer a shell of yourself, slowly but surely healing with his sweet actions.
