ok the harpy hare tiktok trend is actually so cool from a folklore perspective? so, "harpy hare" is yaelokre's original song. it's in a folk style, but that doesn't automatically make it folklore; to become folklore, it has to be adapted into a community, who naturally create variations on the same idea. by making it into a trend, tiktok users have effectively turned it into a piece of folklore. they've added a hand-clapping game to the song, and created variations on the motions. tiktokers are using the internet to not only create folklore, but to syncretize an older form of folklore (hand clapping games) with more modern ones (cosplaying, tiktok trends).
the same can be said for any tiktok trend being folklore. but "harpy hare" is really interesting to me because it was an original song written in a folk style, but was then adapted into folklore by the internet
a lot of the people you guys are calling narcissists could easily be replaced with the word “asshole”
btw the Sudanese army were successfully able to free Khartoum from the RSF's occupation yesterday (27-09-2024) so Sudanese ppl i follow have been celebrating and hope for more victories soon!!
