This Dragon Tail Has A Pattern That Was Based On An Emperor Dragonfly. The Base Color Is Red, With A

This dragon tail has a pattern that was based on an emperor dragonfly. The base color is red, with a black pattern down the spine and an underbelly of a very shiny pink. The leather spade tip was done in a custom double-diamond shape.
The pink used here is a “Bright Anodized” aluminum that I haven’t worked with before. It’s very reflective, and does look quite nice. It’s ten times as expensive as the standard aluminum scales, so I don’t think I’ll be stocking it, but I can order it for commissions. In fact, another commission currently on my queue also is going to be using these Bright Anodized scales, but in blue, and not hidden on the underside of the tail.
This tail was for a tall person. The tail itself measures in at 35 inches, which is my standard size, but the spade tip adds about 3.5 inches onto that length. It weighs in at 3 pounds 3 ounces.
Information about these tails I make is over here, though I’m currently not accepting new commissions until I finish up my current queue.

My submission for Magic Meat Week! It’s a Tumblr celebration of fantasy males in empowering outfits of the style that fantasy women get stuck wearing. I made this set of leather armor over the last week. The codpiece I had already designed, I just needed to make a new copy. The shoulder armor (spaulder), arm (bazuband) and thigh (cuisses I think?) are all new designs, though, and were designed and hand-cut this week. It was a busy week of designing, and it was great.
These things will be up for sale on my Etsy shop soon, but I’ll need to CAD up the patterns so I can make more with the laser cutter, and also take some photos with more clothes.

Some quick chainmail jewelry that I shipped out yesterday. I managed to snag these photos during a break in the rain and posed the pieces in my plants. The second one even has that nice Hipsterchat filter effect from it being so humid my lens was fogging up.
As always, you can find these designs for sale on my Etsy page!

Senpai noticed my Tsundere Shark costume!
This Halloween is brought to you by protracted Reddit jokes!
I’ll get more/nicer photos in a couple days. I also got some progress shots of making the shark fin, which I’ll post up. But for now, costume parties!

A hat band I made for a friend, which will be a gift to his father. Made of stainless steel rings in a European 4-in-1 pattern.

I posted this other Bowser-spiked collar the other day, and someone asked for one in a different color scheme. This one also doesn’t have the soft lining layer, so it took considerably less time to stitch together. The commissioner also wanted a D ring in the middle, which was pretty straightforward, and a locking buckle, which I happened to have a couple of on hand.
I also decided to use vinegaroon instead of black dye for the base. It’s a super cool and hilariously old-school chemistry process where you rust some steel wool into some vinegar, and when you put it on the leather it reacts with the tannins in the the leather and turns the leather black. Since it’s chemically bonded to the leather, it can’t rub off, which is pretty cool. (Though to be fair I’ve been very happy with the dyes I have, I have never noticed dye any transfer problems with them.) And it soaks all the way through the thickness of the leather, which is pretty cool.
The collar is currently sitting soaking up a last coat of neatsfoot oil on the spikes, which should even out the discoloration seen here at the base of the spikes. (That’s from the oil in the black strap, which I oiled before assembly, soaking up into the spikes.) Then it’ll ship out tomorrow.
