This dragon tail has a custom pattern based on a diamondback rattlesnake. I was really happy with the design. I think I may push it as a standard option for the future.
The blue scales are a “bright anodized” aluminum. I had never made much using them before, and they are pretty fun. They’re super shiny. But they’re also an order of magnitude more expensive as the normal aluminum scales I use, so I don’t think I’ll stock them unless other people ask for them.
Summing up: 33 inches from tip to top of belt line, 3 pounds 5 ounces. Royal Blue bright anodized aluminum in a diamondback pattern over a standard black anodized aluminum background, with a standard aluminum underbelly. Full line of spikes down the spine.
I have a convention I’ll be vending at next weekend, but after that I’m planning on opening up for accepting new commissions again. Keep your eyes peeled, your ears perked, and your nose primed for that announcement. In the meantime, you can check out my tail ordering guide, though be forewarned that I may be adjusting the prices a bit before I take more orders.

I’m opening up for dragon tail commissions! As previously noted, this window to request a commission will be open for 24 hours, from now until midnight at the end of Saturday March 26 (Eastern US time). Of the respondents, I will be selecting 2 or 3 commissions to make. They will be completed by the end of April.
This is not a first-come-first-served situation. All who respond within this window will have an equal chance to get a commission. However, I will not be choosing entirely randomly. My choice of which projects to accept will be affected by, among other factors: how quickly I believe I can complete the specific request; availability of materials; whether the person has inquired about commissions in the past; and personal whims about what I want to work on. I will do my best to be fair, though.
To request a commission, first read my tail ordering guide here. Then, when you're ready, fill out this request form!
Assuming this round of commissions goes well, I expect to open up for another round sometime towards the end of April.

The second dragon tail I finished up today! (I’d gotten both mostly built in quick succession, but wasn’t able to do the spikes until just now. Here are some photos of it from earlier without the spikes.) This one has jagged red Vs on a black background, with a blue underbelly. Also a more dense pattern of spikes than I normally do, with large spikes on the red areas and small spikes on the black.
My friends are excellent, by the way.
This one measures in at 33 inches from tip to top of belt, and 3 pounds 1 ounce in weight.
Again, I’ll be opening up for new commissions for these in a week or so. I’ll be updating my tail commissioning guide before I do.

Two scale bracelets ordered last week from my Etsy shop. We got a 3-scale wide bronze one, and a 2-scale-wide rainbow anodized aluminum one. (The bronze one came close to cleaning me out of that material, that’s kind of embarrassing, I’m ordering more now.)
Also! After much delay, I’m opening up to accept a couple commissions for dragon tails! I’ll make a new post for that in just a moment.

I’m vending at a LARP convention this weekend. By my last count, in the last week I have laser-cut, stained, and formed 18 masks for it, including 3 new designs I made in that time. Also in that time I finished up and shipped out the last two dragon tails on my commission queue, plus made and shipped out a couple small piles of horned crowns from a big bulk order that someone ordered, with quite a few more on the way. In addition to my day job working for an architect, where we’re starting two new renovation projects and a furniture/cabinetry concept.
So yeah. I’ve been busy. Photo shows the masks that are currently done from this pile. The rest are drying overnight, all perched carefully in different scattered areas of my room. It’s a terrible mess, but I’m happy about it right now.
Now that I only have one confirmed project left on my commission queue, I plan to open up for new orders next week! Stay tuned!
