I've seen a lot of dipshits saying that the widespread reach of pro-Israel propaganda in the government and media is "proof" of the classic antisemitic conspiracy that Jewish people control the media (and, by extension, the world) . And that is a ridiculous assertion, but too many people are falling for it. I'm not Jewish, but I have a baseline level of critical thinking skills, so let's think about this for a moment. Let's start by stating the obvious: Jewish people do not control the government or the media. If you actually want to have a conversation about the power of religious extremism in the United States government and media (I'm in the U.S., so that's what I'm going to focus on), then we should actually be talking about Christian extremists. The most powerful Zionists* in the United States government and media companies are Christians, many of whom believe that the migration of all Jewish people to Israel will trigger the end of the world. I'm not joking. As batshit as it sounds, they actually believe, or at least they say they believe, that once all Jewish people go to Israel, they'll all die in a glorious display (did I mention that these people are wildly antisemitic?) and that Jesus will return. So like, if we really want to talk about religious fanatics in government, we can, but it isn't lost on me how unwilling people are to actually criticize Christianity and its use as a tool of white supremacy and general fuckery.

We need to be so fucking for real right now. The United States is antisemitic as surely as it is racist, imperialist, and capitalist. The U.S. government doesn't give a flying fuck about Jewish people, and neither does the U.S. media. The same goes for media companies and governments elsewhere in the West, by the way. They do not care about Jewish people. And if those entities could guarantee their power and wealth by killing every single Jewish person in the world, they wouldn't even hesitate to try.

At the moment, Israel and those Jewish people who support Israel are politically and economically useful to the United States.** This is the ONLY reason why they're getting so much positive coverage in the media and so much "protection" by the U.S. government. I put "protection" in quotes because in reality, the U.S. government is putting Jewish people in harm's way by putting them into a position to be scapegoated for the U.S.'s own imperial ambitions in the Middle East. By working so hard to conflate Zionism with Judaism, by saying that Israel speaks for all Jewish people, by arguing that criticizing Israel is antisemitic, and therefore implying falsely that the empire-building, ethnic cleansing, and genocide taking place in Palestine is a fundamentally Jewish endeavor, what the U.S. (and the other western powers backing this) have done is turn Jewish people into their human shields. If this is a Jewish project, then Jewish people are the villains. If Jewish people are the villains, then the solution is to get rid of Jewish people. And if Jewish people are the villains, there's no need to look any further for the people behind all of this. Casting Jewish people as the masterminds behind this genocide allows the actual masterminds to get away with it unscathed. So let's not play into their hands, for fuck's sake

*When I refer to Zionism here, I'm talking specifically about the support for and defense of the settler-colonial project of Israel. And while some people have begun using the word "Zionists" as code for Jewish people, I mean people who support and defend Israel, whether Jewish or not.

**As soon as that stops being the case, the U.S. and other western countries will abandon them. They've done that shit before and there's nothing stopping them from doing that again. They're already doing it to anti-Zionist Jewish people whose support of Palestinians is deeply inconvenient for the narrative that the U.S. is trying to spin. Anyone whose Jewishness cannot be exploited to prop up U.S. interests is a liability. We know what the U.S. does to people who it considers to be a liability, right?
