My thoughts on the 1980 Astro Boy series
(No major spoilers btw❤️)
I JUST got done watching the final episode and here are some of my thoughts!
The series was really enjoyable and the themes it had were amazing. It made me laugh it made me cry, it's both serious and on crack and i loved it. Honestly it's a series i can recommend. Though i do want to point out a few issues that really bugged me.
My main issue is that Tenma is NOWHERE to be found. Which is a shame, because he really seemed like he was one of the more kind and fatherly versions compared to the other ones. Like, after episode 2 he's just fucking gone, never to be seen again (well except for a mention in some later episodes but that's about it).
My other issue is that the first few episodes are bloody amazing and then the fillers come around. The first episodes really tugged on my heart strings, but then things taper off when the fillers happen. I'll be honest, the episodes where Atlas appears? Bloody amazing. They are the highlights of the series i feel. As for the fillers, they really do break the pace of the show, because one episode includes mass genocide of the human population, while the other is about Uran finding Jesus. Oh, speaking of which
Episode 44 should've been the climax of the series. Honestly, anything past that? You can just skip it. And that brings me to the main reason why i made this post.
THE LAST EPISODE
OF 1980 ASTRO BOY
IS ABOUT
THE REASON
WHY
ASTRO
HAS
FEMALE
FUCKING
FEET
Ok well it was also legs but you get me, right?
Btw sorry for the slight spoiler but i was legit livid after that episode
Aside from these 3 issues i took with the anime, it's still enjoyable. And despite the fillers, I found a lot of the moments in them quite humorous and the characters are what kept me going.
Next I'm planning on watching the 2003 series. I hope it'll be as good if not better than the 1980 series and that I'll enjoy it as much. It's safe to say I'll be in this fandom for a while.

Context: Whenever someone in the campaign says something important, i write it down in campaign notes. So while the BBEG is revealing their heinous plan, we joke that Skurk is just hunched over in the background, intensively typing on his macbook. And then i got the brilliant idea to draw Skurk looking like an absolute dad.
