Here's Atlas for an AU I'm cooking up! (feat Astro for height ref and bc he's precious.) Atlas is 14 and Astro is 12 in here.

Still thinking about his story but I wanted to mix the 80's and 03 versions. He's almost as advanced as Astro, but doesn't look perfectly human.

…It would be a while before he could fully re-introduce himself to the world that was being built around him. A world built by Ochanomizu and Atom. However loudly the robot-fearing minority might bark, they couldn't hold a candle to the bright future those two promised.

Been working on this one for a while, finally done!

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

Ooooh that's a fun one! I think as Astro starts to wear clothes more often, he would be into pastel and cutesy aesthetics. Soft colors, floral themes, shirts with cute cats and teddy bears, maybe a ribbon sometimes, but nothing too extravagant. I also think he'd like to wear skirts and dresses! (and he keeps his boots like 90% of the time along with the clear colors.) But I think he'd like fall colors and flanels, too.

On a side note, I can see Uran going the exact opposite route, never wearing skirts and having an intense goth phase that may or may not last forever

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Hmmm I had to think a bit since I didn't have any song associated to him already - but I think Lysergide Daydream by Will Wood REALLY fits him!

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

Oh he seems like a lovely roomate! I'm very talkative and I like to hears other talk as well so I think we could get along!

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

I think I'll go with Tenma here. They seem like they would be very comfortable around each other, with Grimmer filling the silence and Tenma hearing him talk, and Tenma having the sensibility necessary to help Grimmer better understand his emotions. I do ship those men and I think they'd grow a strong friendship before start dating!

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

Started Monster hyped to see him because of you. When he showed up, I was like 🥺🥺🥺🥺 this for the whole episode, seeing him being so kind and gentle and nice. Now... oh I still think he's so kind and gentle and nice, even moreso because of how that kindness had to grow from rocks and dried land. He's SUCH and interesting character, my favorite character in Monster, and I want only the best for him.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Bro tbh I think all of Will Wood's discography fits him perfectly 💀 but the first that comes to mind is Against the Kitchen Floor, especially in a post-2003 sense Bonus: Science Ashbury Heights and you're to blame. That song fits him PERFECTLY. Bonus bonus: Phantasmagoria Ashbury Heights, I think it resonates a lot with his phase of grieving for Tobio and regretting creating Astro

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

I believe we would murder each other. And I will refrain from any comments that might suggest I'm extremely attracted to this man

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

This would be easier to answer if that wreck of a man didn't hate everyone but hmm. I think he could have a really strong relationship to Shadow, since Shadow quite literally knows him from the inside out. He has nothing to hide, so he can just be honest and open to him. And since he's changing for the better, I think Shadow would be willing to listen. I can see them making projects together and studying the heart of humans and robots, sharing their perspectives as such. And maybe Shadow could open up to him too as he developed his own sense of self but Tenma is still his blueprint. ...Wow, now I want to write about these two. Anyway, I think Tenma's closest friend since forever was always Ochan but since they're also dating I wanted to answer with someone else.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

Now that's a funny one, bc I spent 49 episodes of 2003 strictly thinking "oh he's a great antagonist, I can definitely see him having some sort of redemption but I don't think he'll ever go back to Astro and Ochan's life." Then episode 50 happenned and boom. Now I want him to have a 200k words redemption arc actually. Everyone needs to be a happy family. Like I FELT the clown makeup materializing in my face but what can I do man. That hug destroyed me

For the fandom ask, what’s your least favorite cannon thing about Atom?

Oh that's an interesting one, I think I never felt negative feelings abt the little guy before KJSJKSKJ genuinely love pretty much everything abt his character from the versions I've wacthed

Ok, this is very specific, but I kinda hate that episode in 2003 where there's a robot girl (Emily, I think) who wants to turn into a warrior to save her parents and Astro is all "no, she can't do it, she's just a girl!!"

And like, I GET it, I do understand that he hates fighting and will place all that burden on himself if needed. I love that abt him. But I kiiinda felt that the episode (and Astro by proxy) was leaning on the fact that Emily shouldn't fight because she's a girl?? not in the sense of being young, but being a woman?

Maybe I misintrerpreted it or something was lost in the subtitling process but as it stands, that was the moment I disliked Astro the most. Come on my guy. Tho I don't think abt it a lot bc I blame more the general writing than his character

Insane how Tezuka just sat down and wrote the greatest enemies to lovers old man yaoi this side of the galaxy and didn't even realize it

What made you ship it?

From the start I was like "haha wouldn't it be funny if they were exes" since the whole series is a custody battle and all. Then episode 50 happenned and I suddenly really wanted to explore the concept of Tenma becoming a better person and getting back to Astro and Ochan's life. I also wacthed some of Atom the Begginning and that thing is weird but I love their young versions' dynamic and the concept of them being old classmates and partners, so it only added to that

What are your favorite things about the ship?

There's a lot but I really really love their contrast... Tenma being such a cold, sharp person, and Ochan being this firm believer in peace and in the hearts of humans and robots. I love how similar Astro is to Ochan, how Tenma is silently proud from these people who are so much better than him (this isn't so much canon but is kinda there and I love to explore it in fic).

And they're so funny when they're just being a bickering couple and throwing hands. That episode of atb where they're basically having a divorce over A106 killed me.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I really don't know, I'm not sure what the popular opinions are... so I'll just throw a random headcanon: I think they're both ace, Tenma being gay-romantic and Ochan being bi

So yeah this is a post-2003 au, Astro and Sharaku are 12 or so and Sharaku is a new student in Astro's class, and they become buddies

This Sharaku was raised in a lab when he was a little kid, just like 2003 Rock, and rescued by Dr. Kenmochi who becomes his adoptive father (Wato is his adoptive sister here). Sharaku actually knows of his powers and remembers what happens when he uncovers his eye, so he's a lot more anxious and nervous, afraid that he'll hurt someone.

And yeah I think I'm shipping them and I'll call this ship Atomic Eye If this ship somehow exists already let me know I'll be surprised

So, there was once a crossover between Tezuka star system and Turma da Mônica (brazilian comic series), since Osamu Tezuka and Maurício de Sousa (the series' original author) were friends.

So naturally I'm throwing series protagonist Mônica in Astro boy 2003, making a few tweaks for her to fit there. She'd be Astro and Uran's cool older friend and I'm HERE for it
