"Roaming Nessus"

Started this picture just over a week ago, spending at least a couple hours on it each day. It's drawn with Faber-Castell inks and Prismacolor pencils primarily.

While there are a few errors here and there, I'm very happy with how this came out. Each mistake was a lesson learned that will make future drawings even better.

For anyone is interested, from left to right the Guardians' names are Shiloh-4, Astra, and Camille.

My favorite animation in the entire series is this. I’ve captured it both in normal speed and slow motion. This is the very first time we’re introduced to Toshinori, and the animators went all out showing us his transformation. Every frame is meticulous. To date, I don’t think there’s a single example of Toshinori powering-up into All Might that’s drawn with so much detail. Normally we either see him pop into it immediately, obfuscated by a puff of steam, or the camera focuses on a single body part, like a hand, or his pectoral.   But I think this is what we’re “intended” to see every time he powers up. His muscles physically bulging around his bones, his hunched spine straightening, his clothes stretching as they grow increasingly unable to contain his mass.  I can see why it’s never been animated like this again. I’m completely mesmerized by how his bicep grows over his arm, or the shadows in his shirt as we see definition in his trapezius and deltoid appear. There’s an incredible amount of anatomical finesse displayed here. It’s particularly easy to see the contrast between his sick, skeletal true form, too. I dunno man I just love this. Japanese artists and animators really, really know their stuff. They’ve mastered blending realism with appeal.
