Started following you for no rules in breakable heaven it's so fucking good I can't even -

Ohhh! My forgotten child, August Walker 😹 oki, I’m going to post my unedited scene here just bcos u reminded me how much thrilling it was to write him and all his complexities (even tho the interaction in that story was so low that it made me seriously question if what I’m writing is good ahuhu)

NRIBH snippet below 🌸

Started Following You For No Rules In Breakable Heaven It's So Fucking Good I Can't Even -

“Go on, princess,” he drawled, swirling the almost finished and contaminated glass of whiskey in his large hand. The signet ring you gave him twinkling from the light shining on the chandelier. “Ask me your questions.”

“Y-you knew?”

“I do.”

“Then why did you still drink it?”

“Because,” he started before looking at you intensely, “You have my heart at the palm of your hands. And I want you to accept it.”

You frowned as you watched him gulped the remaining liquid as he remained eye contact with you. He smirked at your astonished expression before lowering with a thud the glass on the table.

“Ask me, my princess. You won’t get another chance to poison me.”

“How many times did you try to kill me?”

“Four times.”

You quietly walked out of the kitchen, dressed in your Halloween costume and ready for that afternoon’s party. After so much time apart, you decided that you had to celebrate your husband’s return from his business trip and Dick’s visit from the university in Bludhaven with a family party for this representative holiday of your family. It was sad for you that Alfred, who was a fundamental part of your family, could not participate in the festivity, but it was better that way, nothing could ruin that day. You were so calm and concentrated in your thoughts that you didn’t notice your youngest son and his red-haired friend hiding behind the sofa out of your sight.

“BOO!!” yelled both teens singing to show you just as you walked past the couch.

“AHH!!” you screamed in fright, making sure that both your eldest son and your husband heard you.

The scent of ink and wood carried through the library, the yellow lights were dim, and Lucienne was at peace. Her study was organized, her quill was perfect, and she was ready to get a heap amount of work done.

Her quill had just touched the paper when she heard the sound of vaguely familiar laughter nearing.

Sighing, the librarian put down her quill and looked at her large, wooden doors expectedly.

Loud voices pushed her doors wide open, three culprits standing before her, all indulged in their own conversation. A reluctant smile pulled at Lucienne’s lips at the sight of Mervyn laughing, his wooden shoulders shook and his head was tipped back.

No Rules in Breakable Heaven: Beginning, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, End

“He found me,” you said over the phone you were clutching on your small hand.

You were shaking uncontrollably, your lips quivering. You placed your palm on your lips, shocked written all over your face. You could not believe this- he found you. The whole apartment smelled of sweet rose, but above it all was the distinct smell of his you had always loved. There was no denying the fact that August was only bidding his time before he took you. For what you weren’t sure. Was he here lurking around waiting to kill you? Was he toying with you before he ended your life once and for all? You did not have the answer.

You looked around, your eyes wandered on the small note beside the ring he left. You did not want to know what was in the note, this whole thing was making you dizzy.

“What? Where are the security?” Earl George asked, his voice laced with worry. “Please tell me they are with you.”

Nodding your head, you looked behind you to see the security who was sweeping the apartment as you spoke with the earl. They had not left your side since the moment you found out he knew where you were. You squeezed your eyes shut before mustering the courage to pick up the note he left you.

‘Just a little longer, my princess.’

“I’m scared,” you admitted shakily. You now knew who he really was after a month of untangling from his web of lies, you were no longer naive from his true identity. To put it simply, August Walker was the most dangerous man you had ever met, or anyone had ever met. He was the devil personified, and unfortunately, the villain set his eyes on you. You didn’t know what you did to deserve this horror, this hiding away from someone you used to put your whole trust to, someone who you felt deep things with that you never felt with anyone else. How could fate be so cruel to you?

Earl George was silent for a moment that you thought you lost him. He would not let anything happen to you, not now when you needed him the most. And this time, he would not let someone take you away from him again. This time, he would finally be honest with you.

“Stay somewhere safe. I’m coming to get you.”

And he wasted no time. In just mere hours, he was whisking you away in his private jet.

“I can’t keep running away. This is not the life I want for myself,” you said out loud, realization dawning over you. Having been hiding for more than a month had taken its toll on you. You were exhausted from running away from him. “I don’t want to run anymore.”

George regarded you over his lashes for a moment, taking you in as the wheels of his mind turned. He knew that hiding you away was not a good solution in the long run. He had been toying with this idea, had decided long ago that you would make a great partner in life. He only just needed you to see him that way.

He cleared his throat, making you lift your eyes to him from the window view of the jet. “Marry me.”

Did you hear him correctly? It took you a moment before you could voice out your confusion.

“What?”

“Marry me. That way, the palace will have to protect you too against him. Once you are officially part of the royal family, he will find it more difficult to locate you, lest hurt you,” he stated confidently, so serious that you could not say no outright. You had to admit his plan had its own merits. But still, he was your oldest friend. He was an Earl. And above all, you cared about him and his happiness. You couldn’t take away his single status, not when there were more deserving woman out there for him than you.

Smiling sadly at him, your pursed your lips before voicing out your concern. “George,” you placed your small hand on his, “I appreciate the offer. But I could never do that to you. You should marry for love, not just because of my problem.”

But he did love you. He wanted to say he loved you, he wanted to admit what he felt for the longest time. But the look on your face prevented him from doing so. Maybe, this was not the time to tell you about the way you made him happy from the simplest look you threw his way, the smallest smile you gave him, the sweetest sound you made when you utter his name. Maybe this was not the time to admit that you brought warm in his dreary life everytime you were near.

“Just think about it, hmm?” He offered you a reassuring smile. “If you find someone you truly love, we will divorce. This is only for the meantime… just until we can stop him- for good.”

The preparation for the wedding was chaotic, but George made sure that it would be smooth and you would not be stressed. The news of your pending nuptials spread like a wildfire, people showing their support and love for the two of you, and the media ate the news with so much gusto. Your life out in the open, and the feedback from the people were all good and warm. Everything was in place- well, almost. You were still on the fence with how your life was turning out to be. You never thought you would be in this situation, never thought you would be fitting a wedding gown for a man you were not in love with.

Your eyes went over your reflection in the mirror, you dress fit for that of a princess- your hair was tied in a bun to better see the fitting. Your hands ran over the material of the skirt, you bit your lip as you flashed yourself a sad smile. Your thoughts went to him, always to him. His betrayal broke you- but that was what was funny with emotions. Someone could break you into a thousand pieces you no longer knew how to fix and still found yourself wondering how they were, or missing how they smelled, how their hands fit so well with yours, and how he looked at you as if you were the only star in the sky, guiding him to the right direction.

You could still have a place for someone in your heart, and never want to see them ever again.

A knock woke you from your reverie, before the dressing room opened. You paid no mind to the woman assisting you, muttering a small thank you before facing the mirror once again. Your brows furrowed, your eyes following the reflection of the woman behind you as she placed the veil on your hair, trying to see if that was the perfect one. It was a while before she met your eyes, it was even later when her red lips turned up, smiling coldly at you.

“Y-you-“

“Yes, dear. Me,” she said, her accent thick as she arranged your veil. “I thought I warned you, dear.”

Your whole body froze. How did she find you? And if she could find you, then he could find you as well. You knew she was one of his accomplices. You knew she was not a normal woman. “What do you want?”

She smirked before she stared at your eyes from the reflection, her eyes held the same amusement you saw back then.

“Let me tell you a story-“

“I don’t want to hear it,” you stated seriously. You were so tired of her cryptic messages, of his deviousness, of your quiet life being turned upside down when you all you just wanted to do was to make the world a better place to live in.

“Oh but you must,” her hands tightened on your arms, preventing you from moving, just tight enough to know that if she wanted to hurt you, she would already have. “You must know of the story of how a beautiful princess made the devil fall in love for her. And unsurprisingly, when she found out that he was the devil incarnate himself, she left him. And what a foolish girl- thinking that she could just up and leave.”

“Then maybe the devil should not fooled her in the first place-“

“And here she was, thinking she could just marry anyone other than him,” her sweet and heavy voice whispered in her ear before she stepped back after arranging the tiara on top of her head.

You finally faced her, your jaw clenched with madness, “Why are you telling me this?”

“Because dear,” she started, her smile slipping from her face. She was now an epitome of seriousness. “If he can’t have you, he will burn this whole world to ashes. Consider this my last warning.” She turned her back on you, her heels click-clacking against the marble flooring. Her hand was on the door knob when she stopped. “Oh, it almost slipped my mind,” she mused before placing a small bottle on the table. She smirked at you, her eyes twinkling as if she found this all amusing. “If you ever want to find out the truth.”

“The whole place is secured,” Earl George assured you for the nth time as you walked back and forth in front of him, his eyes following you as your expressed your fear that your wedding tomorrow would be an unsafe one, not only to you but to your dear guests. “I promise, sweetheart, that the best of the best security is ready for anything that might happen tomorrow.”

You stopped walking, your eyes looking out the window of the manor you were staying in. Worry apparent in your face, “But what if she was right? What if-“

“Will you really let him ruin your life?” He asked solemnly. The last time you physically saw August Walker was almost three months ago, his footsteps could not be traced even by the best authority. He just vanished in the thin air, like he never really existed. But the threat you had been feeling for the last couple of days were real. You felt as if someone was watching your every move, just bidding their time, just waiting for the right opportunity. Earl George brushed over the huge engagement ring he gave you, one that was passed generation through generation. It was beautiful, it was elegant, and it weighed you down as if the responsibility of being his wife was now on your shoulder even though you would be married tomorrow. Your fingers touched the small vial she left you- it never left your person ever since she gave it to you. The small bottle made you feel somewhat protected, as if you have an ace in your cards.

“You looked absolutely beautiful, Miss,” your trusty assistant said over your shoulder, her eyes tearing up as she took you in, your gown fit that of a royalty, your face glowing as one of the highest paid makeup artist assisted you on your special day. You offered her a smile. She was happy that after everything you had been through in the last couple of months, you were getting your happily ever after, with the one who deserved you the most. She had been with you through it all, and she knew you of all the people deserved to be happy and at peace.

Assisting you to the vintage car that would bring you to the church, she said her goodbyes to you and a promise to meet you there. You looked out the window, the scenery was that of the country. The leaves falling as the vehicle speed up, the view outstanding and you were lost in your own, little world when the car slowed down. You didn’t think much of it, not until the driver made a distressed sound, but it was already too late. Someone pulled him from the seat, quickly replaced him. It all happened to fast, you didn’t even have the chance to react when your door opened- and lo and behold, August Walker himself stepped in the vehicle calmly, closed the door, and then the car lurched forward.

You plastered yourself on the door, your back against it as you created the much-needed space from this dangerous man beside you who had yet to bring his eyes on you. He was, like always, wearing his immaculate suit. He was even more muscular than before. You were shell-shocked by the way the events were unfolding. You were supposed to meet the Earl in the church, and now you were with August.

“Let me out.” You heard your small voice despite the fear you felt. Your eyes ran over his form, he was the same August. In his finger was the signet ring you gifted him. He was still wearing it.

He gave out a chuckle as if the mere thought of letting you slipped away from him again was hilarious, as if that was ever a possibility now that you were beside him again, where you belonged.

“You looked beautiful, my princess,” his baritone voice finally addressed you, his voice strong and commanding like always. His cold, blue eyes finally landed on you, and then the ring you had on your finger. “I see you got confused as to who you are going to marry. No matter, it’s their fault for poisoning your mind, my princess.”

You looked at him as if he was crazy, as if what he was saying made no sense at all. Because it did not, no one poisoned your mind. They merely told you the truth.

“You need to let me leave.”

He leaned in to you, his movement swift and calm as his lips touched yours. He was not soft, he was doing it as if he was a starved man, as if he had not had water for days and only you could quenched his thirst. You felt a need pricked your skin. Pushing him away, you looked down at the syringe he held in his large hand. Your hand automatically went to your neck, and before you knew it, your vision was doubling. Everything seemed so…hazy and unclear.

“What did you do?” You heard your whisper, and it was echoing. As if you were in a trance, as if you were dreaming.

August guided your head as it lolled down, making you leaned into his muscular chest. His huge and muscular arm wrapped around your bare shoulder, as if you were merely a distressed lover in need of comfort.

“What I should have done months ago.” And that was the last thing you heard before the darkness consumed you.

Slowly, you opened your unfocused eyes. You looked up at the unfamiliar ceiling. Frowning, your head turned to the bed and the pillow you were in- this wasn’t your room. You sat up- now feeling the panic that you felt before losing consciousness when your eyes met the calm and seated August near the bed. He was watching you through hooded eyes, his powerful thighs crossed over the other.

How long had he been watching you sleep?

“You kidnapped me,” you finally remembered, frowning as the memories assaulted your hazy mind. “You drugged me.”

His eyes didn’t stray from yours, “You were going to marry someone else, princess,” he reasoned, as if what he did was normal. “I could never let you do that.”
