⤑ in this scenario, i imagine it’s a lot of you pursuing kakashi rather than him pursuing you. not because he isn’t into you, but kakashi is like highkey shy? about romance and dating and other things. he can handle some flirting if he doesn’t acc have feelings for his subject, but other than that - it’s a no go for him.

⤑ so, kakashi is well aware what you’re like when he agrees to go out with you. he’s always liked people who wear their heart on their sleeve and are open with their emotions but still resilient. it’s always been people like that who guided him down the right path

⤑ it’s no ones fault really. kakashi isn’t very talkative in general, but you just happen to be. so sometimes it can feel like you’re talking to a wall or that he’s not listening because he doesn’t seem engaged. he just seems.. bored?

⤑ you try not to take it to heart at first, because you also know that kakashi isn’t that kind of guy but i mean.. it gets difficult you know? you know kakashi loves you, of course. but does he find you annoying? does it bother him that you’re always talking his ear off.

⤑ so, you try your hardest to talk just a little less. you always have so much to say, but slowly your sentences get shorter. your stories have less detail. you’re less animated when you talk - not using hand gestures or being expressive and just getting to the point.

⤑ kakashi isn’t the best about expressing himself. it’s really so hard for him. but, he cares so deeply so he 1000% notices and he defintely also gets really mopey about it. he tries, to get you to engage like before in subtle ways but he’s just not good at it. he ends up consulting gai - who also has no idea what to do.

⤑ kakashi is a perceptive guy, truly. sometimes he has his moments but he knows you like the back of his hand - so he decides to be upfront about it. he picks you up some apology flowers from the yamanka flower-shop and your favorite sweets.

⤑ he finds you sleeping on the couch, so he takes to putting the flowers in a vase first, then putting the sweet on the counter. he kneels in front you, kissing your sleeping face until you stir.

⤑ “oh, hey kaashi. what’re you up to?,”

⤑ “i missed your voice. i wanna hear about your day in full detail - no leaving anything out,” he says with an apologetic smile. it takes you by surprise, but makes you emotional. you really thought he didn’t care but he really did. especially since you hadn’t mentioned it.

⤑ “okay,” you say with a soft smile. he just leans in to press a few kisses to your face again, grateful that you really get each other.
