Medievalists of Tumblr: what inaccuracies annoy you the most in movies set in the Middle Ages?
Mine is probably the ‘everyone was constantly caked in mud and only wore grey and brown’ aesthetic.

Me, before the Ahsoka premiere: "Ugh, they're making Sabine Force-sensitive after pretty much no indication in Rebels that she had any ability or aptitude that? That's kinda dumb."
Me, after watching the first two episodes: "Listen, give me mediocre at being a Jedi but still a Jedi Sabine Wren. She is Force-sensitive, she's just the worst at it you've ever seen. She can barely lift a pebble using the Force but, it's okay, she's got WESTAR-35s. We've had enough Jedi prodigies and geniuses, they can't all be talented. Give us mandalorianboss but jedifail Sabine, I crave it with my entire being. I've only had two episodes of not-very-Force-sensitive Sabine but if anything happens to her I will kill everyone in this galaxy and then myself."
One of the things that will always warm my heart is the genuine emotion that occurs between a sailor and a ship. I love it when it is depicted in any form of media.
Things like:
- The song Eight Bells by the Jolly Rogers
- the Millennium Falcon and all her pilots and captains
- the Black Pearl and both Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa. They always return to her in the series
- the crew of the Rocinante from the Expanse among others.
A world without trans people has never existed and it never will.

Seriously just search (Trans History).
Here are some examples:
"Sumerian and Akkadian texts from 4,500 years ago document priests known as gala who may have been transgender. In Ancient Greece, Phrygia, and Rome, there were galli priests that some scholars believe to have been trans women.
Roman emperor Elagabalus (d. 222 AD) preferred to be called a lady (rather than a lord) and sought sex reassignment surgery, and in the modern day has been seen as a trans figure.
Hijras on the Indian subcontinent and kathoeys in Thailand have formed trans-feminine third gender social and spiritual communities since ancient times, with their presence documented for thousands of years in texts which also mention trans male figures. Today, at least half a million hijras live in India and another half million in Bangladesh, legally recognized as a third gender, and many trans people are accepted in Thailand.
In Arabia, khanith today (like earlier mukhannathun) fulfill a third gender role attested since the AD 600s.
In Africa, many societies have traditional roles for trans women and trans men, some of which survive in the modern era.
In the Americas prior to European colonization, as well as in some contemporary North American Indigenous cultures, there are social and ceremonial roles for third gender people, or those whose gender expression transforms, such as the Navajo nádleehi or the Zuni lhamana."
In conclusion. Being trans is not a fad and it isn't going anywhere just because some crazy religious nut jobs say we don't fit into their abusive hateful world views. We are here and always will be. So get used to it. 👋😘
Like imagine if every LGBTQ+ person raised their flags and started singing hoist the colors simultaneously on the first day of Pride Month. Now that would be a great way to start.
someone please explain to me why sea shanties and traditional Irish songs aren’t more popular
I AM NOT JOKING THEY SLAP SO HARD I SERIOUSLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND
I also know a concerning amount of traditional Irish songs for someone who isn’t Irish and hasn’t lived in Ireland LMFAOOO
however I am going to blame that one on my dad because he plays the banjo every day while The Dubliners is playing in the background
