I got the banter where Lae’zel says something overly intense like normal and Karlach is like “you can take a day off every once and a while” and Lae’zel is like “I do not take days off!”

and I’m laughing remembering romancing Lae’zel and in the epilogue you can be like “let’s take some time off after this” and Lae’zel is like “Of course 🥰 I have vacation plans that will please you my joy 😘 we will have a well deserved time off”

Reading through the datamine looking for something and I came across this in the file where a spawn Astarion gets burned by the sun at the end of the game.

If Astarion is not the player (i.e. he has run away already):

Nightwarden Minthara: Astarion is cursed to flee the sun as I am cursed to walk in it. Do not belittle him with pity - he is a survivor, and will thrive upon what bounty the darkness provides. There is life in him yet.

If Astarion is the player (i.e. she is talking to him):

Nightwarden Minthara: You are beginning to blister, spawn. Best scurry back to the shadows.

She's two faced in the exact opposite way that people usually mean when they use that word. She may be nice to you behind your back, but by god will she never let that slip to your face (unless you are her partner).

Nightwarden Minthara: I was taught that any man who spoke out of line, or above his lowly station, should be punished. I called that justice. I do not think there is such a thing as justice anymore, and I do not find my comfort at either end of a blade.

3>Player(Wyll):  I'm a protector, not a killer.

Nightwarden Minthara: In this world, the two roles go hand in hand more often than not. Call yourself a slayer of monsters and be proud, for that is what you are.

This is such a nice take why it can be interesting to have Minthara in a good playthrough.

To add, I never really understood the problem with Minthara joining you without raiding the grove - she would have zero interest in the grove herself, she was literally mind controlled to raid it. Sure, Minthara approves of evil choices, but she is also a very pragmatic person. When you save her, she doesn't really care if your character is good or evil, what she cares about is the reasoning behind your decisions, and she can approve different approaches as long as they are rational to her. If you kill the tieflings, she also questions it, and will even disapprove if you say you did it just for fun.

This might get me some hate, but I really wish they didn't allow good playthrough only players to have Minthara as a companion. If we can't have Karlach and Wyll legitimately in the raid the grove part of the game, yall shouldn't have Minthara. I will never understand why they added that, and Minthara is bugged out because of it if you knock her out.

I do love the tieflings, I understand where people are coming from, but like, she isn't a good person????? Lae'zel and Astarion will also leave your party if you do too many good things while they are in the active party layout. Idk I have so many thoughts on this. AND you are locked out of having Halsin too in the raid the grove route. I'm just in a ranty mood tonight before bed lol. I'm sort of salty about it, but not really. Anyways I'm going to bed 🫠

I really don't hear enough people talk about the fact that Shadowheart was not only brainwashed as a child, but had her memories repeatedly wiped. This isn't just your run of the mill reeducation. Like we're talking about having your brain literally tampered with by magic on a metaphysical level which is so incredibly violating and just on a completely different level than the typical indoctrination you see an average cultist goes through.

Your memories and lived experience is fundamentally responsible for shaping the kind of person you are. We see how important memories are with Durge because once they lost their memories, they were no longer the same person and became someone entirely new. Shadowheart was frequently subjected to memory wipes since she was kidnapped as a child, forced to adopt Sharran dogma, and every time she started remembering things about her past or strayed from their teachings, they'd take her memories away again. Imagine the only memories you're allowed to keep are the ones your abusers let you, as they continue to alter your perception of reality in order for you to stay obedient to their control. This is gaslighting on a level we have literally never seen before irl.

It's no wonder Shadowheart says the things she says, and yet, somehow, against the strict doctrines and manipulation that's been hammered into her for decades, she always ends up reverting back to her true self. From Viconia's journal:

No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't erase the good in her. It's honestly impressive Shadowheart is able to fight the brainwashing to this extent. And when she's left alone for once with people who are patient with her and make her feel safe, when she's given enough time to find herself again without being reset back to square one every time she gained an inch? I wish the post-Araj dialogue wasn't a confession at all. Depending on the dialogue choices you make, with the post Yurgir confession the topic of his autonomy and not wanting to have sex is barely touched, and it feels like the parts of the story arc are missing, but as a confession it makes a lot more sence. Having both dialogues would feel a lot more complete

I know people prefer the post Yurgir confession. It feels more genuine yes. But there is something to be said about this confession. It's not about us, it's about him. He's realising he has full autonomy. He doesn't have to perform or force himself to do things he doesn't want to do anymore. And he's also realising he did the same thing with us. But doesn't want to do that anymore. He does want something real. He does still feel awful about what he did. He still thinks we're incredible, all the sentiments from the other confession are there. But this confession is about him rediscovering himself and what he wants. I think that's very important. I wish we could talk to him about Araj even if we got the other confession already.

I love the “tell the one about the man who married a drider!” line you get when volunteering Minthara at the circus, because she immediately gives the punchline “it was a beautiful webbing” and just accepts the fact that she is the funniest person you know

But not only that, the way it’s phrased with you referencing a specific joke and her immediately knowing what joke you’re referencing and the punchlines indicates that she had told you this joke at least once before.

It’s not just a random common joke, the way it’s phrased indicates that you both have some shared context for this joke and Minthara thinks it’s worth sharing.

So what this means is that Minthara likes to tell you bad drow puns/jokes during moments the game doesn’t show

So I’m imagining how many times Minthara has done something like sat down with the camp at night while eating a meal of 26 loaves of bread and 3 rotten apples, and begins telling an elaborate dark and twisted story about some fallen drow male who became infatuated with one of Lolth’s abominations, just to dead pan end it with “it was a beautiful webbing”

100% agree with this, but also, if someone doesn't want to choose that sex scene, why is noone talking about the "let's just stay here for a bit" option???

I feel like it is so underrated, while being also a very intimate moment for them, which is confirmed by Astarion's "that.. that would mean a lot" in a soft, happy voice
