Dinner With The Divorced Couple
Dinner with the divorced couple
It was in December of that year (1809) that Napoleon stayed in these rooms for the first time, just after his divorce from Josephine. The daughter of his ex-wife, Queen Hortense, recalled a visit to the Emperor on Christmas Day: “[He] was moving to the Trianon Palace and made us promise to pay him a visit. I accompanied my mother. It was a touching encounter. The Emperor wanted her to stay for dinner. As usual, he took the seat opposite hers. It was as if nothing had changed […] A profound silence prevailed. My mother could not bear to eat, and looked to be on the brink of fainting. The Emperor dried his eyes two or three times without saying anything, and we left immediately after dinner. "

Or we could NOT blame Sophie. He still would have gone to Sarajevo. What if Rudolf hadn't killed himself? That's a better what if. Franz wouldn't have even been the heir to the Austro-Hungarian empire if Rudolf was alive.
“If Archduke Franz Ferdinand had married someone of equal rank and birth instead of marry Sophia Chotek for love, I wonder if world events would have turned out differently? Would they have still gone to Sarajevo and been assassinated? Would an assassinated take place elsewhere? Would WW1 or some other great war have happened? Would more European countries still have monarchs? Would Russia still have a revolution or murder the tsar and his family? So many what ifs.” - Submitted by Anonymous
The way Henriette looks so cute and Sophie is just GORGEOUS but this photograph was probably taken soon after Wilhelmine died, judging by their outfits and Henriette's age. 😭
I love Horrible Histories so much but in season 8 why are they so averse to showing women assassinated at 46?
It's that time of the year again
St. George slaying the dragon was one of Franz Ferdinand's personal motifs, and I think it's just almost painfully, tragically ironic how at the end of it all, he was the dragon - fiery, often deemed inhumane by his circles, a bit misunderstood if I may say so myself - slain, and Princip the martyr, the romantic hero, no matter how much he always saw himself, struggle after struggle, as the Saint.
Details if anyone's interested :-{/
Why is Vesna SO GOOD?! My sister's crown is awesome in itself, but then Dokola and Wolfrunners? They knocked it out of the park! ❤❤❤
