"It Seems, In The Matter Of Love, That The Two - The Archduke And The Duchess - Were The Wisest, Yet
"It seems, in the matter of love, that the two - the Archduke and the Duchess - were the wisest, yet the late Empress and the Archduchess Zita are more often held as the ideal, the pinnacle, as it were. But the romance of 'Sopherl' and 'Franzi', as they call each-other, is undoubtedly, even in such a subjective matter as affection, something that should be looked up to, perhaps even idealised."

thinking about how if gavrilo princip had shot sophie first he might not have shot franz at all. franz being shot isn't a human life to him it's an assignment of sorts. but sophie being shot? this wasn't supposed to happen. franz begging her to stay alive for the children, using his pet name for her, this is a human life. and if that had happened he might have been so shaken by it he 'chickened out', as it were, and didn't take that second shot
i have my mother's eyes
and her hair
and her sense of humour
but hair changes
and so do eyes and a sense of humour
all i have to connect her to me
is things that will change
like everything does
and i suppose that is natural
but it is also tragic
because she will not change
the dead cannot
but i will
i will not always be the eleven year old i was

Alexandra: I hate talking about myself.
Maria: Get over it. I talk about myself constantly. Everyone loves me for it. I really am amazing.

Alexandra: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
Irene: You're ill!
Alexandra: Mentally, yes, but I'm beautiful, which makes up for a lot.
Irene: I meant that you look like you're about to faint.
Alexandra: Ah. Right.
