I’ve always loved retro sci-fi and horror pulp covers and wanted to try my hand at replicating one. So I did a digital painting of The Murderbot Diaries in something like that style. I used a bunch of different pulp covers for reference and inspiration.

love in murderbot book 2 when they’re brainstorming ways to help MB blend in with humanity and MB’s having a crisis of conscience and selfhood over it like. if i LOOK human i might start thinking i AM human and i’m still several life lessons and about twelve chapters away from being comfortable with personhood human or otherwise, and anyway i already wrote myself a fidget code so i’m not standing around staring at the wall without moving all the time like is that not enough for you? what more do you want from me? and ART is like well i think you should be shorter. by like two inches hear me out it’ll alter your center of gravity and keep you off unit standard, so you won’t be as easy to spot, but more importantly i just feel like you should be a short king. and MB is like what the fuck are you talking about. and ART’s like also we need to get you some body hair. and MB is like what the fuck are you talking about. what’s wrong with you. this asshole research transport wants to turn me into some sort of a sasquartch. no no i wont stand for it. but ART is full makeover mode now going all queer eye on this poor robot it’s seen its favorite show three times in rapid order and is feeling the need to play dressup but it’s an asshole research transport, it doesn’t have a body so it’s gotta go with the next best thing, and that means it’s got to put some hair on MB’s chest and MB is losing its mind like please stop making suggestions what’s next do you want me to have a bussy (bot pussy) and ART is like…….well i mean . why shouldn’t you. i think it would be neat

no more posts about why aspec people belong at pride. no more threads explaining how aromanticism and asexuality are queer. we belong at pride because we do and we are queer because we are.
