Legitimately asking. In your opinion, what's the main difference between a stew and a soup

In my experience: stew liquid is thicker, there's less liquid in stew than there is in soup, and the liquid functions as more of a gravy than as a broth. It can be a bit arbitrary, though. Sometimes food language (& language in general, but we're talking about stew right now) is more about describing intent than it is about describing exact rigid physical characteristics, y'know? It's part of why I can't stand the whole "is x food a y?" schtick.
