Imagine that after the Blood of Olympus when Nico decides to stay at Camp Half-Blood everyone gets together to restore Nico’s Mythomagic collection. So, one morning after walking off a nightmare, he comes back to his cabin and it’s all laid out: every deck and figurine except one. All his friends are there so he knows they all pitched in. He doesn’t say anything, just reaches into his pocket and pulls the Hades figure out of his pocket. The paint is mostly scratched off and it’s kind of hard to tell that it belongs with the set but he puts it right in the middle with all the rest and a tear rolls down his cheek as he stares at the floor. Everyone is waiting anxiously to hear him say something, anything. When he does, it’s a simple, whispered thank you with tears in his eyes.

You ever grow up getting complimented by everybody and their mother for being "independent" and then get older and realize that's the only thing you ever learned to value about yourself because that was the only thing you ever got praised for and you realize the only reason you were "independent" is because your parents were always more focused on your other siblings so you had to learn to fend for yourself and now you have an extremely hard time asking people things or talking to people or y'know just generally functioning in society or is that just me?

so like. obviously it's an immensely tragic route to take but sometimes it's just so satisfying for a story to go "there's no happy ending this time. resistance is futile in this scenario. the 'good guys' can't win. this is a pointless last stand. so for their final act, our beloved characters are going to rock the antagonist's shit so fucking hard it makes you stare at a wall struggling to process what just happened and how you feel about it for hours afterwards."

Write what you want to.

It doesn't matter if you're writing your WIP, side WIP, a new WIP, a fanfic, or anything else. Just write. As long as you're writing something, it really doesn't matter what it is. It's okay if you need a break from your main project, it's okay if you write fanfiction, it's okay if you can't decide which project you like best, it's okay if you aren't happy with any of your projects. You'll keep learning and expanding your skills no matter what you write. That being said, write what you want to and don't let other people make you feel bad about it. If you enjoy writing it, that's good enough.
