Cross worms

hi i made a pony infection Preface: This is based on an AU where magic is a finite resource extracted from the lifeforce of other organisms. Although magic can be moderately practiced using ones own lifeforce, it is a common practice among high-ranked unicorns and alicorns to use the lifeforce of others across other timelines to access more powerful magic. About the Cross worm: 5th dimensional parasite, aims to restore the balance of magic across timelines. Alicorns and unicorns are the most susceptible to becoming a host. 99%+ of earth ponies and 80%+ pegasi recover at stage 2.

Cross Worms

> STAGE 1 - Parasite is dormant for 1 - 3 days. Patient is normally infected by a contaminated water source, but can spread from patient to patient. > STAGE 2 - Red rash appears around the throat, wings, and horn and spreads to the rest of the body. The skin is clammy and pale. 90% of patients improve after this stage. If this is the case, patient experiences episodes of severe irritation in one of their eyes, which leads to the worm being expelled. > STAGE 3a - Rash becomes infected. Yellow cysts cover the previous rash, and the eye cornea fills with pus. Body is stiff with a noticeable tremor, and skin is extremely pale. Host is unable to verbally respond, but pupils seem to be drawn to movement. Hydrophilic tendencies develop around this stage, and the host will often orient themselves towards a water source. > STAGE 3b - Cysts burst. The host often becomes more agitated between 3b and 4a. > STAGE 4a - The wounds from the burst cysts become infected. The lack of energy left in the host's body keeps the wounds from healing. > STAGE 4b - Horn, wings, and large pieces of flesh begin to fall off. The host struggles with basic movement. DECAY - Death of the host. Often due to being unable to find a water source or dying from sepsis.

OR > RECOVERY 5a - Host submerges themselves in water. A cocoon forms around the body and anchors itself to the floor. > RECOVERY 5b - After about two or three weeks, the pony emerges from the cocoon. If a pony makes it to this stage, their body heals without their horn and/or wings. They can no longer generate or access magic (all magic: flying, unicorn magic, earth pony magic, magic from artifacts) Their body is covered in scars and there is some discoloration in their mane. They often feel extremely lethargic, which may be due to adjusting from magic-aided movement to a fully muscular support. There is not adequate research on the quality of life of ponies who have reached 5b.
