Back in my day the jasicos pericos and valangelos fought to the death. unless you shipped the ot3 then it was okay. the valangelos thought they had it in the bag until leo fucked off to calypso island. we were so certain of a jasico victory until the last 20 pages of boo. perico never stood a chance but they were stronger than any soldier. thalico became illegal overnight. the assault on them was merciless. the winner of the great nico ship wars was a guy we forgot existed since 4 books ago. nothing was ever the same.

How did Sophie know Elysian was a woman like… usually the narration is limited to Sophie’s knowledge and supposedly Elysian face isn’t visible. does Elysian just have like really big tiddies and Sophie was like “oh yes must be a gorl”

Elysian's tits entered before she did. she's got some serious honkers. a real set of badonkers. packin some dobonhonkeros. massive dohoonkabhankaloos. big old tonhongerekoogers.

Serious answer: I'm assuming this was done on Shannon's part, imparting that snippet of knowledge because it wasn't something she needed or wanted left to interpretation. Shannon knows Elysian's female, so she's telling us even if the characters wouldn't know for certain. It's possible the voice gave it away, as in keeper there's a pretty clear female/male society and it's rather limited, so in their system a certain tenor of voice=female.

I would say it's because Shannon needed a pronoun to use, but she has used they/them singular pronouns in one scene in the past, so if that was the case she could've used them again.

My assumption is this is another instance of limited gender expression and variation in the series that categorized Elysian into it quickly despite knowing very little about her. But big bonkhonagahoogs, humongous hungolomghnonoloughongous Elysian is a funnier explanation :)

Thinking about how Hades is the one who can hear the souls’ whispering the loudest and he’s constantly having an headache because of it, and when Maria finds out about it, she sings for him.

A lullaby, mostly. Sometimes ballads. Or tunes she comes up with herself. She knows a lot of songs.

It does help. A lot.

And when Nico and Bianca come, they sing for him too.

Maria doesn’t even teach them. Bianca picks it up after so much time listening to her mother’s singing or quiet humming. And then when Nico’s born, she holds his hand and teaches him the melody.

They would be sitting together, Nico in Hades’ lap, Bianca in his arm, both bouncing in childish excitement, chorusing Italian nursery rhymes and made-up songs loudly and definitely out of tune. At the end of their performance, they would cup Hades’ cold sunken cheeks in their four small hands and ask, “Do you feel better, Daddy?”

They are not, by any means, good singers, but their voices - which they definitely inherit from Maria - are so much softer and sweeter than the damned’ wailing, and it soothes Hades’ ache all the same.

And many years later, when the happiness is but a flickering flame compared to the blazing fireplace in their mansion back in Italy, Hades hears his son humming the notes he thought has been lost forever. He stops and stares, watching the kid tap his fingers along the familiar tunes, eyes closed and head slightly swinging.

Nico has started gaining back his memories, lately.
