There are swarms of them, brutal and relentless. A king should be there to lead them, to make a stand with his people though it be their last. Yet he stands frozen at the window, tear tracks on his face and a crumpled missive from the front dangling from his natural hand. It would only take a breath to dislodge it. To dislodge him.
