I think I want to write an urban fantasy where the non-human characters are Just Like That. Like how there are tigers vs lions or fruit bats vs vampire bats. Like, there doesn't always have to be a demon who made a pact with a human and now we have vampires. What if they simply evolved like that? What if Werewolves just sorta happen sometimes, and it can be diluted in a bloodline, but its just a gene. Like, I would be down to create a set of chromosomes with the purpose of dictating whether or not you are a different type of human. Let science have a place in fantasy, especially urban fantasy.
