About The New Camp Camp Episode
About the new Camp Camp episode
Honestly, I think this is one of the best episodes of Camp Camp. It’s a well crafted character study, which, up until this point, really didn’t have that many minus the season finales. David has always been the positive one in many situations, but seeing how much pain he can endure and still be able to show kindness is INCREDIBLE.
For those of you all theorizing this has something to do with Jasper, Camp Camp has never really embedded such heavy metaphors into the show. It’s always much more straightforward with its messages and themes. While I don’t dispute the argument, I believe the whole “underlying story” really is not needed. This WASN’T an episode revolving around anything except for David’s struggles. Not everything involving David has to revolve around Jasper, which I’ve been noticing the fan base has been doing a lot. The purpose of “The Forest” is to show how he can find the good in anything. (I.e the stars when he first climbed to the mountain top and the note left by Max).
This episode is NOT torture porn of David. It’s similar to the episode of Samurai Jack where Jack is hiding in a cave with a wolf while mending an almost fatal wound. It’s a character study, showing how strong someone is by being able to SURVIVE. It’s a powerful message. I’ve seen a lot of people saying that this episode had no point, or that it is useless in the grand scheme of things. To that I say bullshit. Was Attack of the Nurfs necessary? There has been an entire episode about discovering who peed in a lake. Did that help the story immensely. Not every episode is going to be a Parent’s Day. This season seems to be focusing on either one or a select few characters at a time. This episode is no exception.
I really don’t know what everyone was expecting from this episode. It’s an episode showcasing David’s ability to survive and still be kind. It’s beautiful. The animation is spectacular, and the emotion Miles Luna gives to the role is...incredible. Be gracious to this episode. It was never supposed to be a big fiasco that heavily influenced the story. I think the best way to summarize how I feel about most of the vapid arguments I’ve seen so far, I have to quote a certain episode’s ending where Bigfoot gives Max a sandwich and says “Something tells me, that’s not really the point.”
Sorry for the rant I just find this episode to be up there with Parent’s Day and Order of the Sparrow.

YES. THANK YOU.
“What was the POINT in putting David in so much pain?”
The point was to push him to his limit and see whether or not his morals would bend or break at such treatment, and even then, at his lowest, they did not.
“But we’ve seen this before with Max-” Not quite like this. David was a lot more restrained and composed with Max, because he’s a literal child. Not a wild animal trying to kill him.
“But it was just mindless torture porn-” Stop using this word, none of you know what it means. Torture porn usually doesn’t have a happy/bittersweet ending and is usually just NONSTOP torture.
And after David was pushed to his limit, the only other bad thing to happen to him was Wolfy’s death, which actually did have a point. In that ‘sometimes if you’re kind to others, that kindness can come back around’. And in the end, David was, despite still being sad over what happened, back to himself and we’re left with is, like I said before, a bittersweet but overall still very nice feeling.
It wasn’t pointless. It was emotional and intense, but it wasn’t pointless and it wasn’t mindless torture porn. You don’t have to like it, or even like the fact that the crew wasn’t as good with warnings as they should’ve been, but don’t undermine what the episode was just because of that.
It’s factual
That’s it. That’s the whole show.
I only just got into Camp Camp the week before season 4 started, and all I’ve learned is it’s a show where it’s usually just wacky, sometimes vaguely inappropriate humor, and a lot of “what the hell is going on” moments, then sometimes there’s just this episode where it’s gets real and hits you like a train out of absolutely no where
and i love it so much
full offense but as someone who's watched nearly every single pewdiepie upload since about 2014, i know what his content is like way more than someone who's only read a few articles and seen a few clips. he's not a nazi. i wouldn't continue to watch and support a nazi after all these years.
