Elvin age gaps should work like human age gaps.

Five years is a big deal when you’re 12 and 17, but they don’t really matter once you’re 20 and 25, and they matter even less once you’re 35 and 40.

So like for elves it would be like, a 50 year age gap is huge when you’re 20 and 70, but not a big deal when you’re 250 and 300.

A 100 year age gap is a lot when you’re 40 and 140, but doesn’t even matter once you’re 310 and 410.

A 1000 year age gap is INSANE when you’re 200 and 1,200, but if you’re 2,500 and 3,500, nobody cares.

I feel like it shouldn’t just be “once they’re adults all gaps just kinda cease to exist” like ear pointiness being a thing does show that as people get very old there are visual reminders that the person is your elder and it feels like it doesn’t mean nothing

Kai sticks around because she has no friends, and she knows Maple has no friends, and they are mean to people together so it's okay if they are also mean to each other

Maple has an unrequited crush on their bestie — are there details! Why are they into Kai? (Kai wasn't on the list, but why does Kai stay?) Has Maple ever confessed or had plans to do so? Why are they into Kai? I don't know, they just are, I'm aroace so I can't explain crushes very well I don't even know what they're like. But I guess Kai was the only one who really tolerated being around them, and they gradually developed feelings.

They didn't really do anything to confess, they thought about it a few times, but decided it wasn't worth the risk of losing everything. They settled for keeping Kai all to themself, disapproving if she tried to make any other friends. In Universe 2, Kai started hanging out with Fitz and N, which made Maple upset, but instead of just following along, Kai actually argued back, and they got into a fight and stopped talking. But that's just Universe 2. Yep sorry this is confusing.

Maple is an empath, so they knew exactly how Kai felt, but just chalked it up to Kai being oblivious. They were kind of content with their friendship as it was, even though they sometimes wanted it to be more.
