They both deserved better

the fact that yelena was three years old when the mission in ohio started. the fact that yelena was twenty seven in black widow.

The Fact That Yelena Was Three Years Old When The Mission In Ohio Started. The Fact That Yelena Was Twenty

she was three and all she knew was life in ohio, whistling with her sister and forest stars and mac n cheese for dinner, and then in a plane ride, it was over. her mom and dad were gone and then nat was gone, and then she was alone and she wasn’t yelena anymore. i know that’s what the red room IS, but it’s still heartbreaking.

she’s twenty seven and hasn’t bought clothes before, hasn’t had a dog or had a sister or a family.

and seven years later, she buys her own clothes and owns a car and has a dog. but she doesn’t have sister.

this movie ripped my heart out and put it in a panini press.

Endgame and Post-Endgame: Natasha and Yelena

image

Whatever you do, do not think about Natasha Romanoff sacrificing herself on Vormir for Yelena after she blipped.

Don’t think about how she died so she could give her sister a chance. To make up for the mistake of leaving her in the Red Room. To let her experience a life full with free will.

image

And definitely don’t think about Yelena. Don’t think about Yelena coming back after the Blip and not realizing till two weeks later, where she’s staring in horror at a tv screen. A tv screen that read the words she had feared most her childhood.

Don’t think about Yelena being so mad. So mad at her sister for abandoning her yet again, even if it was to save her. So mad at Barton… who could’ve saved her.

image

Because it couldn’t have happened. She couldn’t have lost her sister just 2 years after getting her back. It wasn’t possible.

Don’t think about her being upset the Avengers never came to tell her.

Don’t think about her, in a blur of sadness, wandering back to Ohio, finding the forest with the fireflies, trying to ignore the fact that she doesn’t have a body to bury. And her grasping a nearby stone, and slowly taking out her knife. Don’t think about Yelena messily carving out her sisters name and a small quote: “She didn’t lose her heart”   Yelena picking some flowers and trying to make her mess of a headstone pretty. Her hearing a whistle of wind passes her, shifting her collection of flowers, and Yelena slowly whistling back as tears start streaming down her face.

image

This is the grave she hastily made for her sister, in a fit of anger and sadness and rage and helplessness. It’s the one no one but her knows about.

Ah what if

What’s your HC for if Scully got transferred to Utah anyways after the events of FTF?

1. He’s so depressed he gets angry, and he barely says goodbye.

2. He makes it six days. Then, in a drunken stupor almost forty-eight hours old, he gets in his car and drives. He’s in Pennsylvania—and only blessedly alive—before the tequila wears off. He’s all sweaty. What are you doing, man? he thinks. But then: he knows just what he’s doing. And he’s not going to stop. Fox Mulder is going to get his woman, and he is not resting until he reaches her.

Years later, when an astronaut drives 900 miles from Houston to Orlando to attack her romantic rival—wearing diapers so as not to stop—Scully will poke him in the chest and mouth, “You.”

3. In line for sunflower seeds and a water bottle at a gas station off I-80 in Nebraska, Mulder watches a little girl take her dog to pee on the grassy median. Soon her daddy comes to hold the leash. He remembers the part in When Harry Met Sally when Meg Ryan says “I spy a family.” Scully cried at that part. He tosses the seeds back on the nearest shelf and steals the water bottle. He doesn’t have time for the line. He has somewhere to be.

4. Back in the car, he hears his heartbeat in his ears, as if he left the window down on the highway. Buhbuhbuhbuh. Scully’s face in the rain. Her great crow of a laugh. Looming closer to him the hallway; closer; closer; closer.

Her hummingbird heartbeat against his palm in the Sno-Cat, how she’d shoved his hand into her coat to make him feel it. “See?” she’d slurred, and shot him this drunken smile. He remembers her cold breast.

A week later he’d called her a coward. He’d thought of her face in the hallway, how she’d almost swooned. He’d yelled at her, and he hadn’t said goodbye.

5. To reiterate, he smells. I mean, really, he reeks. This is what he’s doing—sniffing his own armpit in dismay—when he rear-ends Scully in her own parking lot.

“Mulder?” She’s out of her car pretty darn quick, standing on the asphalt with wide eyes, looking hurt. His seatbelt’s locked, and she seems to be deciding whether or not to help him out of it.

“Shit,” he calls, getting his bearings. “I’m sorry!”

Finally, he frees himself.

“S’this your new place?” he asks once standing, and swipes a hand through his hair.

Scully regards him from five feet away, arms crossed over her chest. She looks from Mulder to the sad stucco condo behind her and her chin starts to wobble.

“What are you doing here?”

He swallows, shrugs. “Came to getcha.”

She starts to cry.

“I’m sorry,” he whispers. She comes to him in a rush, closing the distance between them with a hug that knocks him off his balance. When he looks down at her frizzy head he sees her at twenty-eight.

He picks her up so she can put her head properly on his shoulder. So her little sneakers dangle inches from the ground. “You stink,” she sniffs.

He palms the back of her head. “I was in a hurry.”

“Why did you drive here?”

“I maxed out my credit cards,” he says—because he did, what with the private charter to Antarctica and the grand theft Sno-Cat—and when she laughs he feels liberated, at least a little, from the guilt that’s sickened him for days. “I’m so sorry,” he tells her again, for letting her go.

“S’okay,” she squeaks. She dissolves a little more and grips him tight, now with her legs around his middle. She grabs onto his ears and pulls back to look at him. “Don’t you ever drive drunk again,” she orders, and smacks him hard on the bicep.

Her face is teary and flushed.

He wipes her nose for her, then wipes that on his pants. He brushes her cheeks with the back of his hand. “I won’t,” he whispers. “I promise.”

“Will you come home with me?” he asks, and he means: be my wife, be anything, but quit the bureau and stay.

He thinks she’ll be a scientist. He thinks she’ll win the Nobel Prize.

She curls around his shoulders and nods against his neck.

Scully: “And I can’t imagine [my life] without you either. “

Mulder is floored, but would never show it.
