if you want an author to update a fic, here's an idea: leave a comment showing your support, saying you're enjoying the fic, what you love most about it, what it makes you feel, and that you hope the author is doing alright and that you're eager to read more of their writing

here's what not to do: demand an update, ask "update when?" say "it's been so long since you updated. did you abandon this fic?" say anything along the lines of "when are you gonna update" especially if you can't be bothered to say a single nice thing when demanding more content
