Dsmp Phase Nuh Uh Its Actually My Dsmp Lifetime. This Story And Its Characters Will Always Be Part Of
“dsmp phase” nuh uh it’s actually my dsmp lifetime. this story and its characters will always be part of me, it’s fused with my soul at this point. there may come a day where i don’t think about it that often anymore but part of it will always linger behind in my heart

No one reblogs on tumblr anymore.
No one leaves comments on Ao3 anymore.
Seriously people the lack of fandom interaction these days makes me genuinely depressed, it never used to be like this, makes me wonder what's the point of coming online to do anything anymore.
Reblog a post so other people can see it.
Leave a comment so the author doesn't feel like giving up.
Fandom cannot live on Likes or Kudos alone.
Of course it's AI, i m getting to the point where I Hate AI

The above examples have been provided with the authors' permission to demonstrate what these look like.
Basic rundown:
They are all 3 sentences long
Perfect grammar, capitalization, and punctuation
Like absolutely flawless English teacher-style writing with only a single exclamation mark, ever
No mentions whatsoever of character names, settings, situations, or anything that could be tied to the story
The usernames may be identical to people who exist on ao3, but the name is not clickable, and no profile is associated with it EXCEPT when you directly search for that name. What this means: the comments come from an unregistered (not logged in) reader, bots scrape the site for real usernames, attach that to the comment, and post
Please spread the word about this so authors can filter comments and report them accordingly
There has been some speculation about why this is happening at all, and the best guess is that this is a feature that AI-training story-scraping tools are implementing to try and make their browsing traffic look legitimate
Uh… I found it?? It was never deleted?!?

I litteraly thought it got lost in the ao3 fic purge but nope, and I'm very happy it didn't
Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/26b7d36797df532f3f4165817edd5257/8f9578c3af69f3ec-65/s500x750/719b4ffec75338ee2c8e9066cc804515c503f387.png)
i feel like we are the fandom who needs this post the most any fandom has needed it ever.
all of these methods require you to know the title, author and/or link of the fic.
[disclaimer: the fic i am using as an example is not deleted, i just can't think of any other fics to use as an example right now.]
Method #1: Wayback Machine
this is my go to method that i always try first.
steps:
every fic on ao3 has a url of archiveofourown.org/[specific-numbers]. you're gonna need that url, doesn't matter if it doesn't work anymore.
eg.
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c454d305c7507cbf8276689b1f8ea8da/8f9578c3af69f3ec-82/s400x600/3781731d4e0b969332a65abc80619fda551e0fd1.png)
2. now you're gonna go to archive.org and enter your url in the search bar.
3. something like this will come up. it probably won't be saved as many times though, just once or twice.
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f1223b888df7380009bdcbdbb0a1b85d/8f9578c3af69f3ec-0a/s500x750/aa2f8869d175efd8e4d7ddb98cac45c213804cff.png)
just click any of the links now, either the dates marked blue on the calendar or the earliest/latest date. that's it.
drawbacks:
often, a problem arises when searching for fics rated mature or explicit.
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2bcbc96bf0b88f57eb6b8d2ca68168c8/8f9578c3af69f3ec-97/s500x750/31ea200a0f96360c9450038bf3503ff7b03c73cb.png)
the site will have archived this page but not the actual fic. though, maybe lady luck is on your side and clicking proceed will lead you to a saved version of the actual fic. but usually not. and not all fics are saved here. in those cases, i have some more methods.
Method #2: Search Engine Cache
search engines like google and yandex often save a cached version of sites, though yandex is much more reliable than google. i'll give you a tutorial for both.
steps (yandex):
the link isn't completely necessary, just the title and author of the fic will suffice.
go to yandex.com and search for your fic by either entering the url or entering the title and author as such.
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/40e69c8c9ce3684df5a02e15e67fec0b/8f9578c3af69f3ec-4f/s500x750/801f0138f47cc73e40b5136bbb3e43e44a98554b.png)
3. this will probably immediately come up.
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8c76c818fb399991652dcbb566f1da6b/8f9578c3af69f3ec-7d/s500x750/b2adc8a1e5c3a65a89259ab84ab0f2170c7823bc.png)
just enter the captcha and it should let you in on the first go but there's a glitch i've encountered where you could be entering the captcha completely correct but for some reason the site still won't let you in. for that, you just have to keep trying again and again until eventually the site lets you in. might take more than 10 tries.
4. once you're in, search results will pop up. directly clicking them will only lead you to the not found page. what you're gonna do is hover over the box of the search result and you'll see 3 dots pop up on the right.
![Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f4eb546faed3c9450097ea602f43171b/8f9578c3af69f3ec-a6/s500x750/44ced75a491c7a9266af2202e2ec5be92dcd0284.png)
click those and a dropdown menu will appear. click the first option 'saved copy'.
and thats it! this is a much more efficient method especially for explicit or mature fics.
drawbacks:
for some reason, when i open yandex in google chrome, i can't see the 3 dots. i can in firefox though. don't really know what thats all about.
i'll show you how to do it with google too just in case yandex doesn't work.
steps (google):
in the url bar, type cache:[link of fic]. that's pretty much it. google doesn't have a lot of fics saved though so you'll probably get a 404 page.
Method #3: Reddit
there's a subreddit called r/DeletedFanfiction that can probably help you out. either search for the fic as it may have already been posted or req it and someone will probably get you a google drive link soon enough. u/throwthisaway11112 is my lord and savior.
afaik it's still up and running fine despite the reddit protest thing (which i recommend taking a minute to look into).
Method #4: Archive.org Database
okay, now you're gonna need a lot of memory on computer for this one. i'm not gonna even bother and try to explain it, i'll just link you to the original post. thank you once again to the anon who sent me this method!
Method #5: Fandom
if absolutely none of those methods work, you can still just send me an ask and maybe my followers or i will have a saved copy. same for any other fandom, i recommend asking around in popular fandom spaces, someone is bound to have it.

Based on a post I saw about if totems of undying left golden scars
[ID: A digital illustration of Technoblade's Dream SMP character. He has short pink hair, pig ears and a white collared shirt. He is shown from the chest up glaring at the viewer. there is a long scar running diagonally across his face, going over his left eye, which is yellow and with black sclera. The scar has a golden color and a dim glow. The second image is a close-up of his face. End ID.]
PSA: It's normal for fics to only/mostly get comments when they're first posted! I've been posting fics on AO3 for several years, and the pattern is consistent: a bunch of kudos and some comments over the first few days, and then it slows down to a trickle of kudos and rarely any comments at all.
Let's look at one of my fics on an old account. It has close to 2,000 kudos as of today, and every comment is positive. Obviously, lots of people think this fic is great! Now, let's look at how the kudos/comment ratio plays out over time.
Over the first 2 days after posting this fic, I received about 200 kudos on it. I also received 8 comments. That is about 25 kudos per comment.
Over the next 9 days after that, I received about 200 more kudos. I also received 5 more comments. That is about 40 kudos per comment.
Over the next 4 years after that (there's no easy way to break it up further), I received about 1,600 more kudos. I also received 10 more comments. That is about 160 kudos per comment.
As you can see, people were about six times as likely to leave a comment with their kudos in the first two days after this fic was posted, versus leaving a comment once the fic was "old". This is just one example, but I've posted many fics over the years and it's very consistent: people might comment if they see a fic when you first post it, but if they see it later, they mostly just stick to the kudos button. It's obvious that they're reading the fic and enjoying it enough to let you know they appreciate it... but for whatever reason, they avoid the comment box.
Now, is this how it should be? No!! If you're reading this, please take this as your encouragement to leave comments regardless of the age of the fic. AO3 is not Instagram. Authors love getting comments, and if for some reason someone doesn't, AO3 gives us lots of ways to deal with that, including completely turning off the comment section. If the comment box is there, please take that as an request to leave a nice comment, no matter how old the fic is (yes, even if it's THAT old). Here is a great post that can help guide you.
But if you as an author are not getting comments anymore on your old fics, you're not doing anything wrong. That's just how it goes.
